For the millionth time magazines are NOT clips!
Kellas (DayZ) replied to DJKhaled's topic in New Player Discussion
It seems to mostly be those of us who are perfectionists about the little details and have some mild form of OCD who get irritated by improper usage of words. Like those marketing twits who started calling their foods "organic." That perfectionism and OCD is probably the reason why I aced Mathematics, in spite of hating math with a passion. I'm the kind of person who might have become a teacher. If I didn't hate teaching, and kids, and hated myself enough to go back into the US public education system. Our obsessive compulsive "know it all" natures may bother you from time to time, but we're the people behind the scenes, making sure your world doesn't fall apart one tiny detail at a time. Let me put it this way. Who would you rather have building your bridges and sky scrapers? ;) -

Rules of the Internet. 51. Internet denizens do not like to be educated. 52. Internet denizens will act like fools just to spite attempts to educate them. They know the terms, they just don't give a damn. Half the reason they do it is to piss you off. -
I haven't seen an AKS-74 Kobra or AKS-74U since 1.6.0

Got an AK-74 Kobra a few days ago in 1.7, but I tossed it for an M4 because I could actually find ammo for the M4. -
It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!

I wont play on a night server now. It's ridiculous. I've lived in some pretty remote places, and it does NOT get that dark. Like that little buttfuck town in the middle of nevada, barely big enough to have its own gas station. No street lights, barely any houses, and zilch light pollution at night. Sure, it got dark. But there was plenty of starlight to see by, and if the moon was out then it was practically daylight. I've also lived out in the middle of the Smoky Mountains, with some of the thickest forest still left in this country. It's pretty dark, in the woods. But once again, starlight and moonlight filter in through holes and clearings. The only time it's too dark to literally be unable to see your hand in front of your face is if it's completely overcast, raining, or you've wandered into a cave. Fact is, it's actually harder to see at night when there IS more light pollution. Your eyes adjust to the brightest lights and have difficulty making out anything in the darkness. Now, I know I have better lowlight vision than pretty much anyone I know, but these DayZ nights can't possibly be what the rest of you see when you walk outside at night. Your ancestors would surely have been eaten by something they couldn't see long ago, and thus you would not be here. Seems to me, the pitch black nights in DayZ are not here to be realistic. They're here to force people to use flashlights, flares, and glowsticks, which is completely counter-intuitive in a game that rewards stealth and punishes Public Displays of Existence. Staying alive in DayZ is an in depth study in How Not To Be Seen. Forcing you to broadcast your location if you even want to see whether or not you still indeed have feet, or hands, or a body at all, is a dick move. Real moonless nightime means I can't make out small details, colors, or similar shade gradients. I CAN see object profiles, large details, and contrasting shade gradients. -

YES Until a system is created to accurately mimic body language and facial expressions, we need SOME way of judging how trustworthy another player is. It's not the guy up on the hillside sniping you from 800 yards that you need to consider, it's the guy you just bumped into at the supermarket, rummaging through the leftover beans. -
I found a couple when I first started, had no idea they were rare. I drank them, and they were delicious.

I'm quite fond of the revolver. I've been using the Hydra and max weapon dead zone to play, so the trigger pull and recovery time of the revolver feel just right. And it's not a magnum. It's 45. ACP, which is weird but not unheard of. I think it's the Taurus Tracker m455, actually.
