has always worked for me! :) if you tell windows to use the headset as the default sound device then as long as there are no settings anywhere else that would force the sound out of the speakers, when you load SA it will default to the default sound device (as far as I can tell there are currently no options to change sound device in-game

Hi All, I've noticed a couple of issues with the server browser that I hope I can get some help with. When I try and join a server with 0 players on, I just get on the 'waiting for host' screen forever and end up having to push escape to get out of it, but then it won't let me join any servers at all. Also, When I refresh my server page It seems to take forever to query the servers, then it will only show me a list of about 5 or 6 servers and when I click on one of those to join it, the ping skyrockets from around 50-60ms up to anywhere between 200-500ms (on the server browser, not in the game). I've tried removing my <100 ping filter and get no results there either :(

The issue is not so much that you posted, it's more that, as was said, there are already countless posts about the same thing, each additional thread on the same subject adds to additional server load and clutters up the forum with new threads for the same issues and can potentially end up missing newer issues that aren't already being discussed. That being said, there's still no reason to be bashed for it, and at the same time, bashing back accomplishes nothing but incensing the same people who are already incensed enough to bash you for posting. No-one is saying "Don't Post", all they are saying is "reply to an already active thread about the same issue, rather than creating a brand new thread about it!

I'm using both wifi and a shared connection, I don't usually get the issue until I try and join a server with 0 players, then I am unable to connect to any server.

I had a similar problem when trying to play the mod directly through steam. For some reason, the dayz mod option in steam is broken (or it requires the Combined Ops pack, rather than A2 + OA). I solved it by completely deleting the dayz mod from steam, verifying the integrity of my arma2 game on steam (which caused it to download a file), running arma2 and exiting, running OA and exiting, updating OA to the beta patch, then using dayz commander, downloading all necessary updates from the install section of commander. This solved the problem for me.

hmm, do you have lots of addons and shizzle installed on chrome? I stopped using chrome when it became ridiculously clunky but every single addon/app you have installed on chrome runs in a seperate process on your computer, try removing any chrome addons that you are no longer using, or use a more streamlined browser if you are just using it for the map.

The issue is with the optimization of the game engine, no it doesn't go into details when you buy the game but there is a big warning that says DO NOT BUY THIS GAME YET, IT ISN'T READY (or words to that effect). I think that nearly everyone gets these problems to one extent or another (at least, the vast amount of similar posts in the forum would indicate that.) It is possible to tweak your settings to improve performance but I still very much doubt that you will get what you are looking for until a lot more optimization work is done in the future.

are you posting links/pictures in the email? some email programs will automatically block emails containing links or pictures from unknown recipients as spam

I have the same issue... the way around it is to set your headset to be the primary sound device. right-click your volume icon > Playback > right-click the headset > set as default device click OK. Then load up SA... it's an issue with the game not being able to switch sound devices once it's loaded up.

I was just about to post to say that DayZ SA and the mod are two completely seperate entities, you don't need to have arma2 + OPA + Mod installed in order to play SA, but you managed to solve the problem. As for the wasting peoples time.... I can't speak for anyone else but personally I love it when someone manages to solve their own problem and bothers to reply in the thread to let people know they've solved it and what they did. It saves everyone a lot more time than people posting trying to help, only for the person to have solved the problem and not bothered to tell anyone :)

those first few screenshots are taken at night by the looks of it, as for the error message, that's something that slipped in in the last patch.

I am a friendly player, I have only killed once and that was when I was trying to patch up a friend who had been ko'd and someone else came in the room, we asked him to move into a corner of the room and he flipped us the bird so I killed him. Most of the time I will offer any spare food/water/clothes that I have to someone that is in need of it, most people are quite receptive, but I have had a few people attempt to kill me after I help them. Most of my deaths either come from super zombies or me being stupid and too trusting.

I did find that my weapon disappeared when I sprayed it with a spraycan, happened just as I was logging off for the night so figured i'd log off and go find a new one in the morning. Logged in the following day and it was back :D edit :- I realise this post was a bit off-topic from the OP but the conversation seemed to go off on a tangent somewhat.

Hi All,Having an issue with standalone and dual monitors. I have 2 monitors, 1 for playing games on and 1 that I watch youtube/movies etc etc on. When playing standalone, I don't generally have anything running on the other monitor except maybe a webpage that i've been reading open. Every so often my second monitor appears to attempt to switch resolution, then my monitor that is running DayZ will go black for a couple of seconds before returning (everything then seems brighter in game). It's quite annoying as it starts happening more and more, the longer I play. It's not a case of my cursor moving to the second monitor and clicking (because that causes the game to minimize). Anyone had similar issues or know of a workaround that doesn't involve disabling my 2nd monitor (because in this day(z) and age I really shouldn't need to do that). Regards DR

the server isn't showing up in commander? Edit: it is now, I had to add the ip/port via the favourites menu.
