How do you feel about donation bonuses?
dhorseven replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've been on public servers where donations can get you a heli and high powered sniper rifle upon SPAWN ffs lol. Can't stand that. edit: I think skins are okay because they don't offer much of an advantage in gameplay/ But spawning in with a DMR or AS50 is just ridiculous. -
Your vid would be easier to watch if it wasn't private.

DayZ Movie/Series - 18+ Only. Role-play - YouTube.
dhorseven replied to pr0phe7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This seems like a lot of fun. I'm just not quite sure I can be quite as dedicated as the paragraph seems to expect its members to be. But I really look forward to seeing your videos. -
I just realized I've been posting here without ever introducing myself... How rude of me. lol. My name is dhorseven. Generally I am friendly unless you are being suspicious or making me uncomfortable. I do not typically team up with people, except to help them repair stuff or trade when I meet a fellow drifter. I play on west coast servers mainly and have been enjoying origins and epoch as of late. I am almost always somewhere in the woods. because lone wolf represent. Cool, I play here often, we may cross paths eventually.

I retreat north, either northeast or northwest, doesn't really matter. Collecting tents and gear and storing various items all throughout the deep forgotten parts of the woods. I stay away from others. I've been stabbed in the back too many times, shot on sight too many times, and betrayed beyond belief too many times to give a shit about other players. Don't get me wrong, I won't kill on sight, and I won't leave a helpless wounded player for dead. But we aren't friends either.

I'm sorry, I thought you were asking for more epic firefight stories from the community. I thought your story was intriguing, it's always funny to troll people. Especially the people who sit in a pine tree picking off city stragglers. The amount of times I've been killed by a gillie guy making love to a pine, ugh.

I've only been in a true, truly epic firefight in DayZ one time. And my heart was POUNDING. See, I'm more of a lone wolf, you can find me or my camps deep, deep in the woods if you look hard enough. I don't like other people. So this moment lasted seemingly forever to my previously combat virgin eyes. Anyway, I had just spawned in, traveled to balota airfield and picked up not only an m16 with three stanag mags, two m67 frags, but also another friendly survivor who asked me to help him repair his humvee. After maybe 30 minutes of searching for wheels, we were off. Maybe almost half way to elektro we encountered a black SUV up ahead, that quickly banks left and stops, coming to a halt and blocking the road. The driver gets out from the passenger side to use his SUV as cover. My companion writes in vehicle chat "I hope he's friendly" - and I may be a new player, but I'm not that naive. I know when someone is preparing for a firefight by the looks of it. We banked our humvee in a similar fashion, off to the right, blocking the road, exiting our vehicle, creating the scene of a true pvp moment. All my companion had time to say over direct was "SUV guy" before he was shot. It all happened so fast, that SNAP SNAP SNAP, sound of rounds flying just inches away, I don't even know what kind of gun our enemy had. My companion was dead, I didn't know what to do. I kept hearing the shots, as if he was trying to provoke me, stress me out. SNAP SNAP. I leaned over from the back of our humvee and to try and get a shot off, and I took a bullet. Broken leg, bleeding out, great. Bandaged myself and threw one of my m67 grenades his way. He must have been able to get a shot off under the cars because soon, I heard the last sound my survivor would ever hear "SNAP SNAP" and dhorseven was killed. The grenade must have blown up his SUV because almost right after I died, I heard a boom and saw another name in the killfeed. The aftermath was one shot up humvee, and destroyed SUV and three dead bodies. I only wonder the thoughts of the future survivors passing by, thinking "what could have happened here.."

Greatest tent find ever on dayz?
dhorseven replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What do you mean? -
Nice. I just started playing Epoch last night, now I see I've been playing it wrong. lol. I was just playing it like normal DayZ, lone wolfing it in the woods.
-
Blood types would be a pretty interesting addition, what with the complications of receiving the wrong blood type and all. The process of taking blood would get a bit difficult after someone is dead though, as they no longer have a beating heart to pump the blood out for you. But for the sake of the game it would be interesting.

I've played on servers where you can change your wardrobe by scrolling the mouse wheel, with a one minute cooldown time. The rocket skin was one of them.

Loooord Sadler... This idea is awesome.

PICNIC TABLE-Veteran/Chernarus-Wheres all ma guns gone!!
dhorseven replied to fluxley's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Seems awesome. I'm going to start playing here, I really need a good solid server to "call home" Instead of losing my progress on 3 - 6 private hives lol. -
This was insane. Everyone in the server found themselves suddenly teleported into their own aircraft sent on a downward spiral to the earth just a few minutes before server restart. Somehow I managed to survive two crashes without even a scratch, even though blood was pouring out of my survivor, I never actually lost any blood from my blood meter. It all started when I said "Hey cake fly over me some more I'm getting some badass footage" - I got more than I bargained for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KLjKQkwjk

What exatly is the significance of certain sounds?
dhorseven posted a topic in New Player Discussion
I'm talking specifically about the sound of someone hitting a chainlink fence or the sound of something being knocked over, or birds fluttering away as if frightened. I've associated these sounds with other players and thus pack up my gear and get the hell out of there when I hear them, simply because every time so far that I've heard a chainlink fence I've been shot at soon after. So, are these sounds representative of enemy players or no? Do they hold any real significance that I should be listening out for? Also, the soundtrack. Is this just a random loop or does it mean something? I've noticed I can run for miles through the woods with no real soundtrack but the moment I start looting a city that heavy RE4 style thump beat starts up and makes me nervous. Same question there. I'm just curious. Sorry if this is a noob question. I'm a noob and didn't see this mentioned in any stickies. :) -
What exatly is the significance of certain sounds?
dhorseven replied to dhorseven's topic in New Player Discussion
Aw, that's too bad that it appears to be random. I was hoping there was some pvp significance or something. Hopefully in the standalone indeed though I think this would be awesome. Huh, interesting. I guess that would make sense since I only ever hear the chainlink fence when around Zs haha, yeah. I'm using my turtly beach 7.1 headset specifically for making sure I know which direction footsteps/gunshots are traveling/coming from. Saved my life a few times for sure when it comes to footsteps -
I was crawling along the outskirts of cherno with a broken leg when I met two guys, one of them was nice and offered me some painkillers amongst other supplies he had, and told me they were meeting friends and to hold tight. So I did. The guy came back to me and axed my face off, I guess they held a vote on whether to kill or save me :o (Excuse the obnoxious flash from my phone) I don't know where I am but I was bambi-ing along and found the vegetation border. lol.

Your Paranoia ISN'T uncalled for
dhorseven replied to Shrapnell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've only been playing since last night and have been killed on sight as the reason for my death each game. My second game I called over to a nearby survivor for bandages as I was about to bleed out, and he shot me. lol. I was unarmed, and won't make that mistake again. I even switched my survivor to female thinking maybe I'd get a bit of female bambi mercy, but nah. My role today has been to totally stay away from other players. I'll pick up as much loot as I can find when I spawn and then it's to the woods I go. Although last night I fired a round from my enfield to get a zombie off of my tits and had the entire damn city after me. Hilariously this guy in a red tractor comes by as I'm retreating to the woods honking his horn and successfully getting the zombies to follow him instead of me. I don't know if that was intentional but that was amazing. -
Watching your install tutorial currently, good stuff. I'm currently downloading Arma 2 OA and can't wait to start the actual installation of the mod. These forums have been awesome, been lurking for like 2 weeks. Hoping to get on some servers by tonight! :D
