To start, yes I have used the search function and read a great deal of other people's forum posts on this topic and I have tried all the possible options. The only one that I've read that has solved my problem is completely reinstalling windows is by no means a reasonable solution. That's like clearing a bug infestation with a nuke. My issue is that every time I click the Play button on Steam I get "preparing to launch DayZ Standalone". It does everything like it is about to launch the game and then the preparing to launch notification disapeers and nothing happens. This is an issue I had hoped would get patched but it's been several months and I'm still unable to play. What I have tried - I have verified that my specs are correct and capable of running the game (And I was able to for 15 hours before this issue reared it's ugly head. - tried using DX 9 - Tried a fresh install - went to local content and used the steam verification that everything is there. - updated my graphics card drivers - insured that my firewall was completely down - Ran it as an admin - Tried compatability mode I still am unable to run the game an have not been able to play the game. I have searched high and low for answer, all I seem to find are people offering suggestions that the individual who has posted tried but did not correct the issue. I wanted to create a new thread so that hopefully we can put this to rest or just bring it to the attention of the devs. I'd really like to figure out how to get it to play again because it's been so long since I've played it I'm starting to twitch. Has anyone who has had this issue figured out how to solve it or does anyone know of anything else I could try that isn't the nuclear option mentioned above?

I can't even get mine to run by doing that. I have no idea why it won't run! It's been months and this issue has still not been fixed. I don't know if this is a steam issue or a DayZ issue.

I'm not near my personal computer so I can't give my full spec at the moment but It's a windows 7 OS and it's specs are optimized enough to run the game and ARMA 3 on high graphics with no problem whatsoever. So i'm positive that is not the cause of the issue. As for deleting those folders in the documents section, I forgot to list it but I have tried that one and that did not solve my issue either. I'm not even getting into the game, I don't even get a black screen. On my bottom tab bar I don't even get a DayZ Icon pop up, I even tried bypassing steam and directly running the .exe and that also didn't fix it.

Hey, I'd like to know a little more before I throw my beans in with you all. What is your groups play style?

Alright, I'm really getting tired of being riddled full of holes everytime I see another person. Not to mention, surviving is mighty lonely. I'm 21 and really just enjoy surviving and ironically not riddling others full of holes. I'd like to join a group or if enough people are interested maybe form a band of survivors.

Hey! 21 from Louisiana. I don't know if i've played on BMRF before but i'm sure I could find it easily on DayZ commander. I'm a college student so I would probably be on most in the evenings during the week and mixed times on the weekends.
