  1. interesting to see that although some people feel this thread is a pointless crying session about better new controls, that we have a proper response from Viktor highlighting that what most of us saw as big issues with the changes were indeed infact bugs which were unintended as well as some which were. still i think the ability to walk/jog when crouched is not an ability only viable to military trained persons, that is catergorically not true, I am neither well trained or particularly fit, but i can sprint for quite a long period of time (and if someone shot at me but missed i can tell you i would sprint for as long as was needed until i felt safe my life was not in someones crosshairs). it feels a very whimsical argument to say that people would not be able to have a gun shouldered and move at the jog pace we had in 0.46 as a toggled feature. and yet we can still go to that pace anyway, with a counter intuitive idea of using the sprint buttons (whether we remap the controls or not) it is also totally viable that a person can sidestep at the jogging pace as well without the need to mark it down as needing a sprint command to be issued to do that, and in essence this also means our guys will NEVER be able to strafe at pace which is just not reflective of any kind of sane reality. I still personally feel the better way to balance the idea of movement as regards to gunplay is to have a lot more things affecting your ability to hold a steady aim and differing periods of time of affected aim depending on how much time you have sprinted etc. all in all im just pleased that (most) people have given good feedback and points about the new changes and that the devs are observing our points of view because clearly some of the movement issues are buggy now where some people presumed they were intended. i look forward to seeing how the movement pans out in the future and will enjoy having discussions where relative compromises can be agreed upon regarding it.

    Admin Warning for using group chat (Exp 0.47)

    its an old arma 2 feature,in arma 2 dayz mod, you had multiple chat channels, group chat (which was not relevant as groups was a mechanic from arma 2 for squad like communications on the same team), side chat, which was a global chat which got removed on a lot of servers as people would often spam in it or use voice to the whole server, and direct chat, which we have currently in dayz SA. I belive that when you have a walkie talkie in dayz though that chat is basically using the group channel, but you can only switch to group channel when you posses a walkie talkie. as for people saying its admin controls, i have actually now noticed the group chat for text direct chat warnings myself now, in experimental, and as such these are official test servers so it is definitely not admin doing this. it just seems to be a bug

    i personally agree on getting an i5, when it comes to gaming, you can get pretty much the same performance with a little OC from a 2500k as most of the later cpu's most of the cpu benchmarks as u mentioned really only highlight the ability of the newer cpu's for multitasking and so on, also have to agree about having more ssd space, i personally have a top speed plextor 256 ssd for OS and my favourite games, then a slightly less fast writable 250 ssd (samsung 840 standard) as a sole games drive for any others, then a 2tb hdd for general storage, recordings and so on. i think op will find his 128 getting well into the 70-80% filled space on a drive that size, unless he gets really efficient with clutter clearing and setting all his page files off properly and setting them to the hdds.

    Iv tried to tell people that having an ssd for a game that runs the way arma and dayz does is one of the biggest cost effective performance boosters, and i still get shilled by the nay sayers lol :) i know im right though so i jus shrug and bask in your correctness on the issue :P

    Resolution Problem (Help)

    teamviewer is great for problems out of your knowledge scope, if you have a friend who knows what he is doing to try and fix things. the nvidia experience thing is great although not always perfect for optimising all games and is not compatible with older nvidia cards but usually does the trick

    Why is everyone so shifty?

    indeed, been in a situation where i made a friendly encounter with a guy, and we decided to go together for a wander. I spot two guys running at us and say to my guy be careful players inbound. the kid i had just met was probably thinking that cos i was friendly our luck might be in and these were friendly too, i on the other hand have been playing since the mod so i know to get cover before interacting. He shouts in direct hey man friendly and i stash up armed with only an axe and my wits the two guys stop and one says yeh man friendly (im like yeh, heard that before in my head) they saunter over and although they have seen me i still keep a litle distance, the other kids all like talking to them, one guy who is unarmed gets closer then i see him pull a sawn off shotty from his bag right in front of the other kid, at this point i ready my axe and sprint for him and BANG my buddy takes one and instantly is dead, i axe the shooter but am then shot at multiple times by his friend, who missed a lot while i zig zag toward him, eventually he manages to hit me, needless to say you can never be to sure in dayz.

    Resolution Problem (Help)

    as has been mentioned it sounds like somehow your resolution has been changed in the interface setting, one way to see if this is fixable is (if you have it) open up nvidia geforce experience, then navigate to the games tab, click on dayz, and then finally hit optimise, it should change all the resolution settings back to around 1600x900, which for me is not the correct resolution for my monitor, but makes the game run really smooth, then to make it look sharper again you can adjust the rendering resolution back to 1920x1080 in game settings. hope you can get it fixed, if not you can always use teamviewer to have someone else try and fix it for you remotely (something iv had to do for a number of friends for settings related to arma mod version of dayz in the past)

THAT GIF XD that is like literally how ninja i think i am when im in game especially, ill be standing there all dressed in bright colours with a huge ass bag a massive bayonet equipped gun on my back and another rifle in hand, and ill be there like, no one can see me cos my name is ninjah, ill be fine, ^^^^^^ loving that gif, and yes sir you are correct, im not going anywhere anytime soon, i just went into a server for another 4 hours this afternoon to see if the controls had a way of feeling any better after a bit of time not using them, only to be like NAH THESE SUCK, only to then see the dev had read a lot of the feedback in the topics created and also said they are finding good feedback within the threads :) occasionally feedback threads can be made where everyone (for the most part) doesnt try to make it a pissing contest, but instead use reasoning and examples of how they feel their opinions relate to a game change :P

Havent played counter strike or unreal tournament, so i wouldnt know what your trying to imply by that. but EVEN in call of duty (which i played once or twice over the years) when you sprint you lower your gun, and cannot even shoot until you stop sprinting, thing is, you dont have to wrestle with the controls to go from aiming by hip or down your sights to sprint, you just use the sprint control and it does what it should, same as dayz DID about 3-4 days ago. its cool anyway im pretty sure the dev is working to fix it as i mentioned he already said these issues are mainly unintended bugs :)
  11. agreed dude, on thing i pointed out in my reddit on this topic is that, if anything right clicking to ADS should be the one thing that makes your character walk while aiming, raising your weapon to shoulder should definitely NOT bring your toon to a walking pace, that is just pointless and restrictive and not at all how things work in real life. the best way to penalise people with guns who do a lot of sprinting is to make the weapon sway worse the more you run around and take longer to steady after longer periods of running, making movement a chore will just push people away from the game, a few people in the reddit post literally said the changes had made them not want to play the build anymore after a few hours wrestling with the changes. On the plus side Viktor already said a lot of the problems are down to bugs and are not how he intended the changes to affect movement
  12. this topic is so frustrating to have with people when the arguments you get back are things like GO BACK TO COD and stuff, i hate FPS games in general, and as i said just now, this is one of the only ones i own. iv made feedback thread here, and one over at reddit, which got quite a bit of discussion on it since yesterday, and after linking the dev to it and the feedback tracker on his twitter, earlier today he said that a lot of the problems bought up were bugs that were unintended from the actual changes made, and that also the team were keeping a close eye on the feedback the players were discussing for ways to look to make the best changes to movement possible. all in all eventually we will have a weight system (hopefully) which in turn will have big impacts on the fatigue system which will no doubt be implemented also. what gets me is why when bugs that are just outright clearly not meant to be in game get blind defense by some people who think they ADD to the game when they clearly just make the game more cumbersome where it shouldnt be. lol :P

    you do realise what your suggesting, within dayz, offloads even more of the games proccesses onto the CPU as opposed to the GPU, which will inevitably mean worse performance. i thought most people knew about this information. i have the graphics all on high and i get better performance than if i lower the settings right down. its the internet connection and also the server performance thats really affecting most peoples experience in all honesty
  14. sorry i dont play any FPS asides from Dayz, and killing floor. the dev has already confirmed on twitter that a lot of the issues with the movement are bugs. i can side step very fast and also at a slower walking pace. the controls were more "realistic" in 0.46 :) being forced to walk just because you crouched is clearly a bug along with weapon raising. sanic speed? also if you have pristine clothing and a military vest on i think you can take a single shot without it outright knocking you unconscious, which is kind of the idea, being able to move with human dexterity is realistic, the cumbersome parts of the movement have been confirmed to be bugged from intended, so im happy with that, and await the fixes due

I like you, you know whats sensible. also i checked my twitter this morning and Viktor one of the guys behind a lot of the changes has said there are bugs having adverse effects on the movement and that the topics of discussion are being noted, which is good news and why i love the teams that bring us dayz, they listen to us for the most part and also let us know when things like what we are discussing have changed but are not working as they intended (which i thought to be the case because the controls change seems to not be working as they intended, but is moving in a way they want in some way or other) im sure they will find a decent compromise in good time. :P
  17. pretty sure thats not the case, iv been in an area and seen loot vanish before my eyes (mainly at airfield barracks) only to see a guy spawn in the same barracks im in (either a really stupid log out, or someone combat logging etc) but it definitely cleaned the loot i could see as well, as they did this to prevent people from group loot farming as well. all they need to do is have loot on fixed time loot spawns, with buildings flagged as "spawned" every time they spawn anything, and i think to make it nice and hard, buildings that spawn should not respawn anything for at least half an hour if not more. preferbly more as i can easily loot loop in a place like elektro or the nwaf over a half hour so it takes away from the whole idea of rare loot spawn in general. im almost fine with it how it is tbh with a single spawn per restart. just means you rely a lot more on luck as to whether someones looted where you are going through
  18. im pretty sure full server side loot spawn, means its a bit more complicated than that. also by that system, every time you spawn in as a character on any server, your gonna have to run at least 1.5 click or whatever distance to be sure of any loot, as a fresh spawn that kinda blows and making scripts that are aimed just for server hoppers will generally affect anyone spawning into a server normally aside from hoppers in general.
  19. if loot is to spawn always server side, i dont think its so easy to make loot dissappear around a hopping player. i also think it would have repurcussions, say your in the mil tents at nwaf, balota or otherwise and a hopper comes in, if this was to work, it would clear the loot you would be trying to get as well as for him, this just will not work with the current on server loot spawns. at least i dont think

People seem to be confusing the issues here. im not saying we should be able to sprint and aim, and moving fast while aiming has pros and cons (being a harder target to hit, whilst still posing a threat, yet less accurate to fire and such) the point here is the ability to move fast and aim is STILL in game, yet for some reason has been turned to a really cumbersome thing to do in anyway and also try crouching, with no weapons drawn, and you will see you go from jogging pace to walking pace untill you "sprint" in crouched stance, which now makes you jog... that is just pointless and nulls the point of having a walk/run speed toggle in the first place. im not trying to say the controls and movement could not be improved but this first attempt is a massive step in a direction that makes sense to very few people i have seen discuss this so far.

    Say no to floating rifles on your back

    for me i think having two guns on your back (although people may WANT it) is a bit much, the only way i think this should ever be implemented is if it strips your character of the ability to sprint. as a point in case to this though i feel the toolbelt function in the mod, should be implemtented as a lootable item (varied tool belts ie; a workmans toolbelt which would allow for say an axe, can opener and torch or other similair items to be holstered around the waist, and a police and or military utility belt allowing for the addition of a holstered pistol and maybe an extra melee so you could have all the above holstered items freeing up inventory space as well as allowing to have say a axe and pick axe on your person without needing to fill all your invent space) i strongly feel that having two guns on your back allowing for the ability to hold a third main weapon is just not realistic in any sense. i seriously doubt any person would really find it easy to move around at all well if they had two rather heavy guns over each shoulder as well as a bag and other items.

    i havent had this issue, i too usually dont use a mic, as i find a lot of people who are friendly tend to be quite annoying to talk to lol, i only bother with the mic if i bump into a friendly who also doesnot shriek at me like some devil possesed 8 year old saying things like "CAN I FOLLOW YOU, WHERE YOU GOING, LEZBE FWIENDS" etc. my experience with these types of people is A) they are trying to lure you to their group from ts or whatever or B) they shout so much in the direct chat that you end up getting noticed by other players before you see them and get ganked but yeh i have not noticed any warnings for typing in direct channel so far :/ sorry brah cant help you there
