  1. I started playing Dayz about a year ago, After hearing alot of fuss about this new Arma 2 mod and hearing my friends raving about it I decided to finally download and try it for the first time. after countless hours of trying to make the mod work I finally launch it and join a busy server, it is night time and with the added creepy music I soon find myself creeping and crawling about in the alleys of what I will soon discover to be Electro. every sighting of a zombie combined with the creepy music and the night-time sends my heartbeat skyrocketing through the roof, hearing their disgusting screeches as they walk around aimlessly absolutely terrifies me. I realize that this is too much for me to handle so I slowly move towards a nearby coffee shop, enter it cautiously and hide behind the stairs. I log out and call it a day, I go to sleep with mixed feelings of excitment and fear. I wake up feeling ready to play again, I join our Vent server and ask for some advice from my close friends who are on. Now I feel ready, I launch the game and Join the server I was on the day before. It is daytime and I feel a lot more calm and relaxed. I search the coffee shop for loot and find myself an alice pack, a few cans of food and a can of coke. I walk out of the Coffee shop and head out to what I persume to be a Super market, slowly and carefully I crawl by trees, bushes and buildings, stopping and waiting each time to let zombies pass. I finally reach my destination without alerting a single Zed. I walk inside through the back enterance and after finding a map and some more food I cautiously and slowly move towards the main room as I walk inside the main room feeling like I've achieved something great I spot another player laying on the floor in the corner armed with a lee enfield pointing it at the main enterance, I immideately hide behind a food shelf and as I'm trying to communicate with him by voice chat and telling him that I'm friendly just like my friends adviced me to do I hear shots flying over my head. my heartbeat starts racing again, I really don't want to loose the things I collected, the player doesn't seem to know that I am in fact not armed because he doesn't move an inch from his spot keeping his rifle aimed at the general location where I might peak out. In the corner of my screen I spot a double barrel shotgun, "Yes! a weapon!" I think to myself as I turn to it slowly and I am just close enough to pick it up!, I nervously take it. I know what I have to do, I get up and start running towards him, while bullets are flying all over the place. thinking back, it was probably a really stupid thing for me to do, it was just mere luck that I didn't get shot that day. it must have been his last magazine because the shooting stops and I have him pinned down not moving, he obviously accepted his defeat waiting for what is surely soon to come. he suddenly whispers three words with a really raspy voice, a voice that I will never forget; "Don't do it". I stare at him coldly while aiming down at his head. I pull the trigger with no remorse. I soon hear the flies and I know he is dead. I loot his body feeling both sad and at the same time happy. This was my first encounter with a player in Dayz, a first encounter I will never forget. The End This story is in fact largely a real experience I had, I added some stuff in just for it to sound better. keep in mind that English isn't my first language and that I largely self learned it myself by spending large amounts of time on the internet reading articles, forum posts and such. please also note that I have never written something like this, give me some feed back on errors I may have made while writing this. thank you.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

So I was wondering if the SA will be all Server side how will that affect someone like me who plays with 80-90 ping constantly. I live in Israel so the only servers that I can play on are European servers because 80-90 ping in the mod don't really affect me, but in the SA I fear that the game will be unplayable even at that ping range because for instance in CSS I could not play on European servers even though in games like battlefield 3 I could, and it is known that CSS is entirely Server Side, so my question is: will I be able to play with this ping range?
  3. I've been reading your posts on this thread throughout the pages and to me it seems that you're just an autistic aspie 12 year old fanboy who spends too much time on the internet. no offense, this is constructive criticism, please stop before you won't be able to function in normal society and socialize with other people. on second thought it's probably too late for you now anyway... (is this better based mod Fraggle?)
  4. So today I discovered that an alpha of a game called Rust has been out in public and guess what? I am pretty impressed. this concept of open world survival FPS is not exclusive to Dayz anymore, and in Rust you can actually build a base using materials you harvested from the environment a thing that won't come to Dayz in a year (if the full version actually comes out by then) and what does Dayz have? a gimmicky radio and a new inventory big freaking whoop.... the standalone is the same as the mod, hell even the zombies still glitch like they did in the mod, I thought this would be eliminated because it's an official game, boy how wrong was I. The dayz standalone is nothing more then a garage project with a small team and a limited budget and it will never become a "real" game, just an improved mod.

    DayZ Standalone Trailer?

Yes they do, and if they don't then that is very stupid of them, they are a company, they are out to make money, money that can be used to improve the game from it's alpha stage to a real triple A title, but so far what I'm seeing is that Dayz is more of a garage project with a very limited budget and a small team and that is not how you make a triple A game.

    DayZ Standalone Trailer?

that is so stupid of you to say that, the trailer is an investment, not a really big one if I might add but it brings more players, more players = more revenue.
  7. same for me, I go every few hours to be disappointed that there is no update about the standalone, even when I'm out with my friends I ask for their phones to check if the standalone is out yet...
  8. harsh criticism is still criticism, go ahead and reread my post and and tell me that wasn't criticism, I just wrote it like that because I was emotional and I cared about this game and hoped that it would be something good.
  9. well why do we still have this if this is a whole new game with a different engine? how did this bug get transferred from the mod?
  10. Yes, lets have a fucking circle-jerk, everything is perfect. critics are not welcome. wait a second, I'm not on reddit so you can go ahead and shut the fuck up. also you'd have to be blind if you're not seeing the difference between the standalone and the mod, in the mod if you're on full health, the colors are way more vibrant and it looks alot more colorful than what we have here in the standalone.
  11. I totally agree with this guy, it does look bad, the zombies are the same as they are in the mod, except they are faster with a few added animations. you could even see at one instance where the zombie actually went through a wall (a common thing in the mod), various times the animations didn't match the hit the player got, they also still stand and attack you even if you're out of reach and at a completely different direction. the leap animation is also pathetic, and this is only talking about the zombies. Everything looks fucking dull because of all the forced grayness, no one cares about your artistic perspective Dean, we don't care that you want to make the world in Dayz gray and sad, this looks forced, fake and adds nothing of value, it actually makes the game look worse. battlefield 3 tried to do something of that fashion and it failed miserably resulting in a petition against it with tens of thousands of signers and the making of "hacks" that removed all the forced bloom and "effects" to make the world look more "green" and real-world like. even with added animation this seems to me like the same old Dayz mod, with it's bugs and glitches, I can't help but notice that because they used the old arma 2.5 engine and not the arma 3 engine which is far superior, I played the mod of Dayz on the Arma 3 alpha, and to me that looked much better than what we have now. I was previously hyped over Dayz but I stopped caring about it like 3-2 months ago and when I finally came here to see something new and promising I get this. I'm quite disappointed.
  12. No, this would just make the game more casual and no one really wants that. games are suppose to be a challenge and dayz is really a unique experience and a challenge for players, it will spit on you and kick you in the sand but you will adapt to it. this a really rare to see these days and I think it should be preserved. casuals don't want challenge and just want to have everything handed to them on a silver spoon. I think that if you really see it as a bad design choice you really shouldn't be playing this game.
  13. sure why not add me on skype if u want danny.poke

    Troubleshooting cheaters

Translation: When will this end already? Do the mods do anything to the cheater except for a ban? After the ban the cheaters buy a new cd key and keep on cheating, just like the monthly payment of World of Warcraft maybe it's the mods themselves who sell these cheats, what else can you think about it? the dayz mod is a year old and there are still cheaters everywhere.
