I've had some wonderful little plans of my own to introduce a new kind of banditry into Chernarus, but this certainly sounds interesting.

You can combine shotgun slugs together or combine .45 ACP into M1911 bullets, but unfortunately there is no way to consolidate mags. It is a very silly and time consuming problem.

Remember to use , and . to cycle through channels in chat. That confused me my first time. I've actually started out in the Ceasefire no pvp server with a group of friends so we can get our bearings. At least there's a bit less sniping and banditry in Elektro and Cherno than on normal servers.

I doubt there's an actual animation for that.

Keep in mind that there's been bugs involving the vehicle "eating" your part and not actually repairing the piece you replaced. Rumor has it that vehicles have trouble syncing with the server, so getting in and getting out or shooting the vehicle each time before you attempt to repair it "should" sync it back up.

You have an active inventory of 12 slots which allows you to directly access them. Your backpack gives you an additional number of slots to passively store items. To access this, say you found a pile of loot and want to store them in your pack. You would press G while looking at the pile, find your backpack on your list of items and click "Open Bag" on the bottom of the inventory menu. This will then allow you to move items from the pile into the backpack itself. It's a rather clunky system, and I never found out myself until recently.

You need to have three open slots in your ACTIVE inventory, not your backpack in order to pack up your tent. You can move three items from your active inventory into your backpack to solve that problem.

Zombies have an apparent pathing problem that causes them to zig zag towards you and then run behind you before attacking. They will also phase through walls with their attacks, spawn in floors, and walk through doors and tents.

I've noticed that players refer to other maps such as Lingor or Taviana. I'm currently playing on a no PVP server on Chernarus to get my bearings and a get a hang of this game. Are there any maps that would be better or worse for people starting out in DayZ? Are there maps that veteran players prefer? What are the differences between maps?

Kind of a human thought experiment, though its been done before. The larger the numbers, the more people just resort to the quickest, least risk methods of protecting themselves. Thus everyone will kill everyone else on site, creating a world where there is no room for robbing, just indiscriminate killing. -
Since I'm just starting out and haven't really had the chance to raid military bases: Enfield Makarov I get the impression that ammo is difficult to find for those other weapons. Is that the case?
