The current implementation of the logout timer is trollish.
twingunz replied to airtonix (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I will share my beans with you for a classy debate! haha but to clarify, i was never arguing to remove the 30 second timer 100% want that (no one should be able to force logout ever), i don't want the current system changed at all just added to! i just meant you would sit there watching over it (similar to most MMO's) but i wont beat a dead horse we obviously both standby what we have said and remain unswayed, so i tilt my hat to you good sir! It will be interesting to see how they build upon it further with whatever way they choose to go, best part of the alpha in my opinion watching it all grow; even the bugs haha. -

I still disagree that system has worked in countless other games, it still puts you at risk as 9 times out of 10 the person who see's who 1st wins. If you see and logging out player and shoot at him and he has enough time to press cancel, then stand up then arm himself, then take aim and shoot i mean he should be dead already! most of my gunfight confrontations are over with within a second unless there are multiple aggressors, I just do not see how it gives or rewards anyone as they are still disadvantaged. I don't combat log myself ever and have only come across a handful who have logged on me so maybe i'm just exempt to this. Again i stress! i love the new system and by far not complaining about it and no way ever want it removed, i'm just stating on what i feel would improve it further imo; just reinforcing that haha Edit: grammar, spelling misused words the usual lol one day i'll learn to proof read before i post. -

But isn't that the whole point you want to engage them in combat, what is the fun killing a player sitting their AFK? It'll encourage combat loggers to react instead of try and be a bitch and Combat Log as they would sit there defenseless they can't just cancel it and own you they'd have to stand back up and pull out there gun again and really my cat can kill a combat logger lol It's not about them killing you it's about it's silly that your character just sits there and takes it, i'm playing the 'authentic' / 'realism' card here. It's illogical and silly that your character is 100% defenseless, as even if you were asleep you would wake up and try and fight it off not continue your nap. -

Isn't that a design flaw on their part then? Currently in game you already sit down so if the system remained unchanged and they just added the ability to watch your char sit there (or force log if you want to leave it vulnerable) you would have to (obviously) stand back up which in itself takes time, then you would have to arm yourself (taking more time) this already leaves you at a disadvantage to the entering player / zombie / whatever else is to come, as why would anyone stay seated and let someone walk in and kill them without at least trying to get up? (how it currently works seeing we are completely unaware to what is happening to our char in game). Don't get me wrong i like this new system A LOT it's a huge improvement, dare i say i love it and how it punishes people trying to exploit the game, i just feel being able to oversee your character for the 30 seconds is reasonable and logical, as even when i'm logging out i should have the ability to be able to defend myself if someone happened to be stalking me and i was unaware or if a zombie randomly beats on me (and also what happens when / if they add aggressive wildlife? nowhere will be safe) it just seems silly that my char just sits there and takes anything that happened to stumble along! Again i am not complaining about the current system it's great, i just think it can be improved further to protect your own character but still leaving you somewhat vulnerable. -
Not saying hackers aren't out there (as i know there are and seen the videos) but and i am yet to see a hacker. They are not as common as people seem to think.

my mate and I are in zelenog in one of the buildings on the strip in a hardcore server (only way to play), I'm being a dick running around the building blind with a burlap sack on my head (as you do) completely oblivious to the world around me. I hear a gunshot and my mate says "FUCK" still blinded and ignorant in my cozy burlap sack i reply "zombie?" and he's sighs "nah someone sniped me". All i have is a fnx with no clip and a bullet in the chamber to defend myself i got to the window on the second story to see if i can see movement in the street and *bang* i take a shot to the arm but thats when i knew where he was across the street 1 story up; he must of seen us enter the building and setup to take us out on our exit. As I bandage up I take out my chambered FNX and i hear over the mic "This is my city bitch" being heavily trained in the MGS:VR simulator I use all my stealth tactics to get up to the window unseen, I pop my head out and spot him; right where he was before like a fool muhaha, I fire my only shot before he has a chance to react it hits and he drops down. Thinking he's only unconscious i quickly run across the street to finish him off but alas he is dead and there is no torture in his future this time but now i have a fully kitted out SKS (my first one) and soooo many goodies, the part that i enjoyed the most was before all this my mate was giving me shit about only having a single chambered bullet for defense while he had a kitten out mosin and i came out the victor! :P What i learned is the chambered FNX is OP and by far the best line of defense for all situations haha that is sarcasm My favorite kill thus far still feeling the ball tickling thrill from it all a couple days later, the dude must of been so mad! haha

What will make you play the alpha again?

If they ever implement the Arma III ballistics system i'd be oh so happy; the stances system would be awesome too sick of spending 5 minutes moving around trying to get things off the top of shelves. On Topic: But yes i believe (could be wrong) bullets penetrate most things currently if you're up close at least, although i haven't gone out of my way to test myself so i'm interested to know / see if materials are working so brick houses are harder to penetrate than tin, wood, etc i'd imagine that should already be working though as i imagine that'd be a pain in the ass to add for them down the line.

Sigh dude i've read all that i'm up with the news, however it doesn't change anything. Like i stated to the guy i was replying to (as it has also been stated officially), we are in an alpha they are testing many thing's and everything is likely to change even crazy ideas they don't think will jive; who knows what will happen and who knows if they go back and revise or retry previous methods especially to a larger audience in a new light / way. As explain to me how having the current (experimental) system as is with a tweak to keep you ingame (if you wish) can be exploited? as it is the exact same system. I'm not saying i am correct all i am saying is you shouldn't take every statement that is made as case closed, especially when we are in such early stages of game development. -

twingunz replied to airtonix (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Er i think you misunderstood me so calm your panties! that is exactly how it is working in the experimental currently, when you log out your character is in server for 30 seconds all i was saying is it would be nice if they implement it so you could oversee the logout progress instead of leaving it defenseless, it isn't changing anything to the already current system; if you didn't fully understand me do not correct me with miss information! -

twingunz replied to airtonix (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I think it will end up exactly like that but for now it's alpha and they're just testing stuff and might of simply not had the time to finish implementing all the logout features this patch. -
I'm going to go against the crowd and say no it's not playable. The games great dare i say amazing but If you ain't been dying to play dayZ but are interested in it you should definitely wait, as if you do you will have a better experience for the same price where as playing now in it's current state may turn you off with all its bugs and lack of content, nobody wants that!

I like what all that the new logout stuff is doing anyone saying otherwise imo is exploiting the system in some way (as by now you should already found a few servers you play in defaultly not jumping around from server to server) The only thing i would like tweeked is when i exit i can wait the 30 seconds with the character in game or force exit and leave him there unguarded. -
Stories, what do you do when fully kitted out?

Anyone else fallen through a floor or stairs before?
twingunz replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
sorry to do this but i'm going to play the Alpha card. It'll probably exist somewhat in full release too but dw if they get a physics system working we will probably die when being crushed through the wall then haha I've gotten stuck in the guts of the buildings before too as have many others lots of threads about it already, i'm 100% sure the devs are aware and are working on it but right now i don't think that it would be a high priority for them, especially seeing it's fairly easy to glitch yourself out atm; again alphur. -
I've also found it in the barn (i presume it'll be at scaffolds / construction sites as well)

it's 12 slot and it's amazing the green is actually pretty good it's small and camo-ie

Hunting backpack > Mountain backpack (1PP)
twingunz replied to The_Man's topic in General Discussion
Also not worth the extra exposure, it's so big stands out everywhere you might as well be running around with a flag saying kill me attached to your back; Hunting backpack by far is the best in the game thus far! -
I consider myself KoSer even though i don't KoS to what level most do (probably only got 30-50 KoS's under my belt), instead i watch and observe and then decide, i don't shoot everyone with a gun but after watching how they play and what they're doing if then i decide that they are a threat i'll take them out without saying a word to them or if i'm deciding they're friendly i get the jump on them let them know im friendly and they can have all the loots (it also lets them know that there are friendly players out there as well) and move on before they turn on me haha; not a single person i've got the jump on has turned on me though probably because i don't wait around to find out (everyone is friendly when you get the jump on them :P). KoSing every gunned player imo is a little silly as it only contributes to the problem; you being a perfect example you didn't KoS until you got KoS'd but don't mistake me i love KoS, KoS is a great thing so carry on!

Adjust your head for a better experience.
twingunz replied to Intactus's topic in General Discussion
I agree! I feel animations need to be separated from upper to lower body that in itself will clean up a lot of the clunky feeling; why when i run can't i pull my gun out and then stop running mid animation or sidestep; why can't i eat food and walk or crouch while doing it other than standing there helpless; once those kinds of locked animations get fixed (so legs are separated from upper body movements) and some small tweaks to the movement animations overall i think the game will feel 100% better and still keep that authentic reaction time logic you are talking about. IMO it's not the controls that make the game feel unresponsive it is purely the locked animations and (currently) terrible animation transitions that lock you in, If they don't make animations more dynamic i don't think the game will ever lose that sluggish feel. All that said i am confident it will get to that stage though with the animations. Edit: grammar spelling the usual for a non proofreader. -
I don't think there's anything you can do man hopefully as the game becomes more stable it may lessen the usage but honestly as the servers bump up in player size, items and interactable objects more than likely it'll grow. Hope you get some more options soon dude.

Starving to death very quickly on experimental branch
twingunz replied to Rancor's topic in General Discussion
Yeah i had this too then realized it was my own fault DO NOT eat till stuffed ever as soon as you vomit you lose the contents of your stomach and it seems while you have stuffed status or after you've puked (i think) you come sick but it's not telling us because food seems to drain extremely fast after you puke. I thought it was broken at first but now after figuring it out and playing with it a bit i think it's more of a learning curve to not just spam water taps anymore till the stuffed message comes up! -
I don't understand why people are against a small chance of loot spawning everywhere. I made a post about this a while ago that was not met very well because apparently it's not 'realistic', but i feel it is 'realistic' to have loot spawn everywhere as the zompocolypse has already happened, people in homes would of also supplied up not just left everything in one place like 'well we will just sit here and wait to die, what's on the TV' people before us that washup on a random boat didn't happen to do any scavenging or home protection whatsoever? IMO it should work exactly how Byrgesen said have the loot tables as they are BUT have a small % that anything can spawn anywhere it means you won't be finding M4's or military in 99.9% of the non military places you check however once in a while you will be rewarded for checking unorthodox places, which makes the game far more interesting. it is not a survival game if you know where to look.

Has anyone actually found the machete in experimental yet? or is it pulling the ol' Revolver / SKS trick by just pretending that it's in game, if it is just jokes well then here is a jar of my sweet tears; enjoy them.
