lol last nigh my mate and i wear raiding a house heard an eating sound then a reload sound... we locked that house down for 15 minutes ready for a fight not wanting to die as we spawned on opposite sides of the map and had to run for 20 mins to find each other and not wanting to go down that path again thus we waited.. and waited.. then moved positions and waited some more... 15 minutes later we realised dayz was playing a prank on us, silly dayz he's such a joker.

But as of right now you can also do that just log out join a low pop server instantly safe, this is still a better alternative to what we have now. Edit: i misinterpreted what you said ignore this quotation! :P I like this idea simple to understand for everyone and doesn't seem like it would be hard to implement either but who knows what's easy really as that all depends on the devs and engine however i like this, i like this a lot beans for you!

with my interactions with other plays i'd say it's 8:1 friendlies way and you'd think being geared would make it more likely but i've yet to be KoS on a geared char... it's the lag / high places that kill me, i 100% agree with OP I even asked a guy to kill me last night (was bleeding out when i spawned in thank to the new char spawning into zombie area great start to life for him) and even he was hesitant to kill me, with my permission he followed through though, a truly good dude! Plus KoS is such an important aspect of the game as it adds that fear if the game didn't have the risk of KoS it would't have anywhere near the same tension. i've been playing since the day after launch 4-6+ hours a day been Killed by a player 4 times and one of them i asked for other times i've even ran into other geared players and we just strafe around each other weapons ready till we pass then keep moving, maybe people that have issues with "most" players trying to kill them need to find a better server that attracts less KoS minded players or need to comparatively look at how many people are actually trying to kill them not just counting the KoS but the friendly interactions as well.

I was about to report the same as halcyonaus as i took a beating a few hours ago from a zombie lost almost all colour and since i'm better with lot's of eating and drinking everything i find maintaining a full status and i've never had the 'healing' status and my colour is almost back to full saturation... i wonder if it's bugged and not appearing or if healing means something else like getting over a sickness instead of meaning plasma regen... strange!

I can't agree more i need to look more fabulous!.... and less military as if hightop kicks don't come into this game with a variety of colours for each day of the week i will rage quit my life.

I don't understand the even need for this discussion really it's like guns do we really need guns? if we didn't have guns we wouldn't shoot each other guys! :P It's there it doesn't have to affect anyone and those that do like it can use it. Someone tried to cuff me yest told me to freeze i did he came at me so i bludgeoned him and legged it, then he shot me but i survived hid patched up waited for him to pass and ran off, i like the handcuffs as it adds to the game and gives us more choices and i think that's always good. Simply if you don't like them don't comply just run, shoot or bash just as you would if they didn't have cuffs.

I've got this weird issue where no matter what server i join i've got this crazy unplayable lag without me actually having any lag, my ping is at 64 i've tested my connection multiple times and it's all fine but if i click on a door or change a weapon it's not seconds it's minutes for it to appear/change but most of the time nothing happens at all i had to change servers to a server that had the door open to the building i was stuck in as i can't open doors and the zombies don't even react to me i can stand in front of them trying to make them kill me and i can't even do that successfully haha I have no clue whats going on i'm in like ghost mode or something... last thing that happened when it all started it all was i got a crazy lag spike where the game just became unplayable so i logged as to not have something randomly appear in front of me as it went on for over a minute before i decided to log out to see what was going on and it was all fine reset my modem reset my computer did a network test all good go back into the game now it's worse. Anyone else experienced anything like this or heard of this before? I'm not really keen to kill my geared character just to test it out or if it magically fixes itself

How if they pull or don't do as we say instantly we are both opening fire they won't have a chance or know where we are, it's an ambush! Edit: we won't be staying in one place but setting up all over the place in bushes homes along roads etc! fun times ahead! bring on the war haha

I dunno i like the system a mate and I are doing some robberies tonight AKA 'road piratiering' going to hold up people on the highways if they don't oblige they get the gun if they do we are gonna restrain them unload their guns take their ammo then send em off, no harm no foul! You can't really take all their stuff anyway as my bags are always 80% full all i want robberies for is easy ammo and when you're working the roads as a 2 man team i think it can be highly rewarding and then to send them off into the world with their empty guns! muhahahaha! well i'll see how it goes tonight and how many people oblige to being restrained!

I've only killed one guy been in many close heart throbbing situations though but the one guy, I was leaving the main building at balota airport after a real nice hall and as i stepped out to the world before me bullets suddenly pelted the ground around me, I made a break for the back of the building away from where i thought the bullets were coming and darted into cover without taking a hit, then i waited for him to appear from his hiding spot to come find me. After almost a minute he must of decided i was gone or not worth the chase and like a fool he exposed himself by climbing to the top of the glass dome flight observation tower.. thingy, i watched and waited as he climbed up the ladder then got into position and went prone and grabbing all my 2 virtual balls i strafed out of my cover and i popped a couple of shots at him in reply, I don't think they hit as i could only see a slither of his back but it scared him and he stood up so i peppered that bastard up real good and his body feel from the roof all the way to the ground and not for a second did i think of looting him no i did the manly thing, i ran and i ran and i ran as tears coated my face! I am bored lol

I think all guns are fair game as how is something not suited to the game that's based on reality, as all those things exist in the world now so wouldn't they still after? i'd love to see 100's of weapons (even some fun things like paintball guns, sling shots, some replica guns you can use to trick people with, etc) by the time dayz is all said and done; wishful thinking and double that with melee weapons with all ultra low spawn rates so we see real diversity in weapons it would create gun trading making it kinda like the 'metro' games how you can use bullets as currency, i think that would be awesome and fun for people who like collecting ALL THINGS like me! never happen but i can dream!

I would love lighter nights not as much as the picture but enough where i can get by (sort of) without a light, a light should be used when searching and navigating interiors but i should be able to traverse through the night outdoors (again slightly) without heavily relying on a shity torch. I love the hyper realism of dayz but end of the day it is a game and if something makes it not fun it's not cool, atm if you don't have a light there's no point playing (for me personally) so i only play in 24/7 day servers but i want to play at night it's just so dark it's not fun (for me) in the slightest and i don't like to use gamma trick so still waiting for the day a lil less cruel nights come into play! (i'll be waiting forever i'm sure)

I was thinking the same thing would be so good to set up in a house then rig the entrances with traps traps muhahaha and more importantly rig known bandit spots!

I think it would be terrible as you could exploit that so easily and it'll make life even breezier for bandits you could set up in 2 different places on the same server and swap between to make sure no one escapes and also can exploit gear and loot, no sir i don't like it. 1 character is perfect!

I find this interesting and would love to know if the extra money (or a percentage) goes to further development or if the game has predetermined funds to the project by bohemia; meaning all money would be perceived as just profit and goes to CEO's pockets and fancy lunches but this i'm 100% we will never ever know. Anyone saying that because they bought the game they have a right to know.. shut up, no you do not have any right to know anything i hate that weak entitled mentality, i'm surprised you know how to breath so shhhh just be quiet as logic is not your strong suit :)

pretty sure the kitchen knife can open cans too, i always find can openers in the sweat shop buildings or whatever they are the open building in elektro behind the church with all the machinery can openers on the machines and in the offices in the back.

Doesn't weight affect your hydration and food consumption rates though, that in itself is a fair logical counter isn't it? maybe a slowing system as well? but honestly I thought the system thus far was pretty fair. As if it was real life you'd also do everything to squeeze every little thing you can carry to increase your survival chance.

This guide is based off of the knowledge I have accumulated in my first few days of playing this will contain a short overview then a detailed breakdown of what you should do, what to look for and what to avoid. 1. What to do? (a short overview) 2. Water 3. Food 4. Guns 5. Zombies 6. What next? 1. What to do? (Overview) First thing you should be doing when you spawn in is be looking for water as your guy before the game has even loaded will all ready be nagging you, you will spawn on the beach generally near a town that may or may not contain a water fountain, you can however also drink from lakes / rivers (but i believe you may get sick from that maybe someone can update me on this) if there is a road nearby follow it till you find some form of civilization as you have nothing to lose; except your pants and a torch. If you're unable to locate water MOVE ON i can not stress this enough you need to move away from the shore and head deeper inland that is if you value your life, pressing into the smaller towns is where you will find a goldmine of items whereas wasting your breath digging through homes that have already been ransacked is just a waste of time. That said it is important to note keep moving BUT take your time as running burns up your food and water faster, walk from house to house, walk while searching and when it's time to be moving on then run your lil heart out but make sure to catch your breath every once in a while ;) Once you've been through a few houses and sheds you should of found some food, water and some kind of melee weapon (best are axes but the fireman's axe reigns supreme they can generally found in sheds construction sites) if not refer to the tip before MOVE ON! someone is always behind you waiting to catch you standing about, wondering if you should or shouldn't eat that rotten kiwi. Now that you've got a few supplies it's time to move deeper and head for a military base to really gear up these you need to hit hard and fast they are frequented often and comparing M4A1s as exciting as they are will get you shot / stabbed in the back and you can watch them loot you as it all fades to black. Now that you're fully geared up go and live with the best survival chances you can have... i guess. 2. Water With water i find it best to only carry 1 water bottle, in dayz mod i always tended to hoard food and water however this is a lot less of an issue as hoarding is now not needed if you drink whenever you find water and if its a tap spam it till your index finger is a bloody knob! you will know when you are full because your avatar will say 'i am full' (opposed to when you're full from eating they say 'my stomach is full', i believe that is the way to differentiate correct me if i am wrong) NOT 'i am satisfied' KEEP SPAMMING don't listen to the lies that's not even close to full (approx 50%) if you stop there you will get the 'i'm thirsty' within a few minutes so don't be afraid to spam it, you can over drink a little so don't be frightened, watch for the messages so just keep pressing that middle mouse button. It is important you are full all the time and drink often as possible try not to use your bottle unless you start receiving messages you're bottle is your emergency, i have my current character about 8 hours alive and he has never needed to eat or drink from my personal supplies as i always drink when i see water. IMPORTANT: If you have your one water bottle full and you come across another water bottle DO NOT leave it pick it up and drink that bitch, then throw away the empty trash all like fuck yo litter laws! 3. Food Is essentially the same as water, however drink all the soda cans you see and eat all fresh fruit you find ON THE SPOT! don't fill your bag full of fresh fruit and soda cans unless you're an idiot, you are just wasting precious bag space on a one use item i have two cans of food on me at all times (4 uses each =8 total uses for emergencies) they are the first two cans i ever found and i've never had to touch them. When you find food stop and eat it again ON THE SPOT! why leave it there to rot, eat all food you find on the spot and you'll maintain a full stomach! (again same as water 'i am satisfied' IS NOT a full stomach) but if your stomach is full then leave it there for your fellow survivors, i do and 'm sure because i do they'll eventually catch up to me, kill me, rape me, then eat my sweet sweet flesh, cock n balls first; yummy. 4. Guns Not much to be said here they are guns they shoot things and those said things die, that said guns aren't ideal for zombies they make noise thus attract more zombies and give off your location to near by players especially if you're just standing around wasting ammo on zombies, No, Stop, Bad. Guns i find are better as a deterrent for other players so ALWAYS walk with your gun out as when a zombie comes at you, you normally have time to swap to your melee and if not it's easy enough to run around a little to create some space then swap to your trusty axe, it takes all but 3 seconds of your time, where as a player with a gun who spots you won't be as easy to avoid while you clumsily try and change from your axe to a gun all the while hoping you don't accidently cancel your action while you're in a panic; always be prepared. 5. Zombies Zombies are easy to exploit due to their 'position based, locational attack dooba' (official name blame rocket... *dodgy eyes*) what do i mean by that well! they chase you by updating your last known location this updates every second or so, SO because of this just run in a circle and they can NEVER keep up with you as your position is always changing so you'll be slapping dey ass while they're still chasing your location from moments ago in an endless, hopeless loop of butt spankin' doom. 6. Whats Next Well this part i don't know as this is where i am currently stuck at the moment, I've got my character to survive for almost 24 hours (real time) probably 8+ hours actual game time, he's decked out got SO many meds and SO much ammo and i'm always moving so food and water is never an issue so what do i do from here i guess.... write a forum post about what you found! Notes: Be friendly most often other players are just like you and are like spiders 'as scared of you as you are of them' press f1 and hope you don't die or just be a pompous ass and shoot everyone on site while making them hate you just as much as the rest of the world does :) I have only died twice by players in my first few days and encountered dozens of other players but i play lone wolf style but I will stop to help a player in need but i tend to stay outside of populated areas and have grown rich doing so! I hope this is helpful to someone thought i might share some of what i've learnt and hope it keeps you alive!

Yeah i've seen both the dev blogsbut just because they showed like 2 diferent tops (diferent coloured same top) doesnt mean there will be a large variety or moving away from the military theme i'm just meaning it would be nice to see a large and varied range as personally i feel in a survival game where you're playing an avatar over a story driven motive character in single player games it makes gear and appearance a big thing that keeps you playing even if you find a hat you really like or top or whatever losing a vanity item is very significant seeing theres no story / motive to connect us to the avatar .. i really hope its followed through and thats my suggestion follow it through deliver please PLEASE !! How is it complaints? it's just people requesting more variety in appearance and style nobody is bashing anything or complaining.
