Third person vs First person view
chickenfeed replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Turn off head bob, no more bouncing up and down. Also you can zoom out for a more realistic FOV without resorting to seeing around corners/over walls, which is the issue with 3rd person. -
For the millionth time magazines are NOT clips!
chickenfeed replied to DJKhaled's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah I agree with this. Furthermore, anyone who calls a 'magazine' a 'clip' should be BANNED. Or killed, I don't know which one is easier from a technological stand point. -
Yes they are, very rare spawn.

So 1.62 official update is finally out, is that going to delay this update at all?
-
After deep consideration, I have come to the conclusion that this may be an elaborate attempt to troll us all.

Yeah, obviously having wounds last for months is not fun. They shoud last for a short while, perhaps a couple of hours, just to add that period of rest after a particulary painful fight. Although I think that the bullet removal could be a decent enough feature, and would do wonders for teamplay, I do agree that the cauterization (And even sterilising tools) is going too far up the realism route.

Sins of a hacking gamer...
chickenfeed replied to DigitGreen (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You realise that loosing your gear while swimming is not a glitch, right? So you just admitted to hacking for no reason. -
Sure did. Call me self-centered but I figured that my suggestions would be better for discussion than all of the threads trying to stop PVP, when Rocket has already said that won't happen. Thanks for the support!

Yep, as Madfast said (Twice). Thanks for your feedback though!

Instance means it's not part of any server, it creates its own area for players to use. So, for example, I enter the underground base on EU7, you enter the base on US56 and we can both see each other.

I disagree, wrapping a rag around a bullet wound is not going to be anywhere near as effective as a proper bandage. Consider the use of a cloth as more about the method of applying it to a wound. If a player uses a cloth, it could take effect more quickly to simulate a rushed job to quickly stop the blood before you get proper medical care. Using a bandage would take longer, but is applied more carefully and, as Madfast said, is designed to stop blood and not clean dirty windows. Perhaps removing bullets should be possible alone, but takes along time and causes alot of blood loss, whereas if you get another player to do it for you, it's faster, less painful and much cleaner. Also, include the ability to remove a bullet with a hunting knife, which is obviously a very bad, but possible, method of removal. Also, as aversionfx and Egi said, it would be good to add more functions to alcohol. Maybe allowing it to be used on wounds to reduce the chance of infection when bandaging/removing a bullet.

Hide "so and so was killed" messages
chickenfeed replied to unclegus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's already possible, and is already used on many servers. It's a server side setting, not a mod setting. Find a better server. -
In less than one hour, this thread was buried under countless 'suggestions' trying to punish PKing, Banditry and griefing...

No, definately not. People don't seem to realise that 99% of DayZ is actually content from ArmA. Apart from a few models, DayZ is entirely code, created in ArmA's 'language'. You can't simply throw the code into another engine. Rocket has already said that DayZ works fine in ArmA 3, moving to a new engine (Completely removing everything that makes DayZ what it is) will take years of development. And, it's already been said, games are going to be released very soon that completely copy DayZ and will steal any potential sales: Look at War-Z (http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/07/19/the-war-z-announced-zombie-survival-shooter-mmo-with-strong-parallels-to-day-z/), it couldn't be any more of a DayZ clone. Moving to another engine would be the death of DayZ, there is no question about that.

Misread 'go' as 'grow'. Arguably, a quiver that grows arrows could be considered overpowered... Maybe...

So Dean "Rocket" Hall is Breaking away from Bohemia to create stand alone Dayz?
chickenfeed replied to BaitedHook's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol, because DayZ would work soooooooo well on the Cryengine. It will be staying on the ArmA engine, for very obvious reasons. -
I'm afraid I've had to advise friends/family against this fine mod (why?)
chickenfeed replied to Mr Muggles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think respawn is the issue. Permadeath is still a distinct threat, and people are still afraid to loose their gear, which is good. The problem, if there has to be a problem, is that the three largest cities are on the coast, where you spawn. Dying in these areas doesn't matter, as you can get back into the city to loot, and even loot your own corpse, within minutes. The only solution for this is to spawn in a different area, or (more preferably) use a new island, specifically for DayZ. -

Don't lie, you spent your money on a realistic military shooter. Nowhere does it mention that ArmA is a zombie survival game. You have only your own ignorance to blame. If your in a group and are still being killed so much, you are playing the game completely wrong. I am seriously confused how people manage to die so much, from both zombies and 'bandits'. I kill people, it's fun. It's more fun when I get shot at, too. Seriously, stop with the anti-PVP suggestions. You literally have noone to blame but yourself. Oh, and 500k people are not dissatisfied with DayZ, just the few spoilt kids who don't know how to play shooters. -
Not only that, they took fire and lay down in the middle of the road, facing the complete opposite way. At that range you'd have to be deaf not to notice where the shots are coming from, and blind not to see the guy sitting in the bush.

My god... Those guys were TERRIBLE... I used to be happy in the knowledge that even noobs could keep themself alive for a few minutes, but after seeing this...
-
Yeah, this is possibly the best suggestion this forum has ever had. Anyone who disagrees is obviously a carebear who is scared of accidently eating shit. +26 for the suggestion.

The four towers spawn military loot, good enough for me.

Server setting. The amount of idiots have tripled since Yogscast made that video.
