I was really thinking about the standalone and thinking about how situations might occur within the grasp of reality during a apocalypse such as Dayz. I was thinking that if we gave the player the tools and to create the incentive of establishing communities within the map would be a very interesting idea and a very unique one as well. Just as most MMO's have guilds or how current DayZ have a group of friends to run around. I think we should give the players the tools to create some sort of base. For example you can establish some sort of a fort. Wooden barricades, tents, hunting tree stands. Make it some sort of a sanctuary created by the player. Kind of like the WarZ sanctuary but more refined. Players have to create it from scratch and maybe band together the players in the server to create this sanctuary. Wandering players could stumble upon a friendly base. Possibly trade food for ammo or etc. I think if we can create this type of environment it'll give the players some type of motivation to stumble upon these bases, maybe to raid or even maybe for shelter. Or you could even join them as well! Not saying everyone should do this, you could be that "wanderer" type player where you feel more sufficient running around chernarus and scavenging for items. Just saying that if we could do this, it would definitely lower the player base of just being bandits and having to shoot on sight to players that must band together to survive in a hostile environment. I was also having a discussion with a few friends of mine about an infection system. One of the biggest medical concerns is infection. You scrape your arm against a branch, the most important thing to do is disinfect a wound. Infection should probably lower the running speed of a character and maybe succumb easier to sickness. If we add this to the game, i believe that medical supplies would become more dire and more required than to just grab a few morphines and a couple of blood bags. Even with zombies. If you get bit by a zombie, you should have to find a vaccine or dose to cure your self or you die within a certain amount of time. Zombies traditionally have always been, "if you have been bitten, you are done for". This could make the player a bit more cautious about approaching a zombie or CQB in general. Taking out targets from a distance, or using distraction with cans or bottles. Your biggest fear is to be bitten, so you should avoid it at all cause. As much as i love finding a gun in a fire house and shout. M16! It gets old... Fast. Guns should be rare. I remember when i first started playing dayz. I would oftentimes joke with friends saying, "haha, watch there be a M16 in that house". and when there was, we would absolutely freak out. I loved that about dayz, when you find a specific gun and it made you extremely excited. i want that all the time. Instead of having that dry feeling of, "Oh, it's just another AS50, you can have it.". I want every weapon to be unique and worth having. I'm honestly looking forward for the compound bow if it does get introduced into the standalone. I'll probably stick with the bow over a gun to be honest, I'd like to avoid player conflict but if i have to... I'll do it with stealth. As far as scavenging. My friend brought up a good topic. Recipes for food and such. As much as i wouldn't like to see this game become a minecraft zombie survival, i'd like to see players living off the land than risking their lives for a can of beans in the city. Hunting, picking berries and etc. Making a certain broth on a camp fire can restore warmth and etc. I thought this was a good idea and i think the more we can involve our selves into the survival of the game instead of the more PVP action we're used to. A perfect balance would really make this game unique, and can give many situations for players to tell stories about for many years. I'm positive this game will fulfill our expectations soon enough :)
