  1. The problem: Too much high-end military hardware for being a zombie apocalypse. It ruins immersion. It makes no sense that every other survivor you meet has a military weapon, and it makes even less sense that a lot of players have special forces gear from the west (50 cal snipers, silenced carbines, UK thermal scopes etc etc) considering that we are in Chernarus. The solution: Make loot Hive-based instead of server-based. Check with the hive if it's ok to spawn for example a silenced M4. If thousands of players already have it as their primary, then it's maybe not a good idea to spawn it in the barracks since we are in fucking Chernarus. Thermal goggles? Sure. Check with hive. No, 20000 players already have it, we already have enough for the tiny stretch of land that is Chernarus, spawn AK74 instead. Rocket, are you reading this?

What should the DayZ motto be?

Kill everything that's moving. It might be infected. Or carrying a can of beans or a weapon you'd like...

    Weapon Poll

I can't vote for my favorite primary, the M14. For some reason it's listed as a sniper rifle.. Anyway: Sidearm M1911 Primary M14 Sniper DMR For plentiful ammo and one shot kills.

Combat logging: Am I guilty or innocent?

You did nothing wrong. You suspected the enemy of using a different server to move behind you, which IMO is an exploit. It shouldn’t even be possible to login close to other players, it’s a broken feature of this mod. In my opinion disconnecting to avoid being killed by a cheater or exploiter is fair.

    The solution to Alt-F4

Lets face it, people don't Alt-F4 because they don't want to die. They do it so that 1) They get to keep their gear 2) The little fucker who shot them doesn't get their gear They login on another server, bandage themselves, take painkillers and eat 10 steaks and are all set again. The little fucker that shot them hopefully aggroed a bunch of zombies and then also disconnected. The point is that you disconnect for a reason, and the reason is not that your character will die, it's that you'll lose your gear if you don't. The game is fucked up at this point because gear is what matters, not your "life". Make gear less important by making aiming harder and ammo less frequent. Until my gear ceases to be more important than my character's life I will keep disconnecting and keep relishing in the fact that my killer didn't get my precioussss gear.

    The solution to Alt-F4

Maybe make it so that the instigator couldn't disconnect then? Edit: Fuck it, just leave the body dangling for a minute after disconnecting and problem solved.

    The solution to Alt-F4

Losing equipment because of death is not an axiom. There needs to be persistant progress in this game, otherwise people will find ways to save their temporary progress.

    DCing from snipers, snipers complaining.

Funny you say that because Rocket actually did say that it was very easy to patch out the deus ex machina by ALT+F4. Since he hasn't done it yet I can only conclude that it's either not important enough or that he wants to fix pvp before that.

    DCing from snipers, snipers complaining.

So the epitome of satisfaction in Day Z is directly proportional to that which you are complaining about? I can't remember ever having complained about snipers..

    DCing from snipers, snipers complaining.

There's nothing more satisfying that denying your killer from getting your gear.

Fully populated night servers / More NVGs

Remove the nuclear powered NVGs and replace them with realistic battery-powered ones. Imposing global bans on the ones duping equipment would also be nice.

    Footsteps should be louder

Yesterday I crouch walked up the stairs in an air control tower. I think the ear showed two lines. When I reach the middle floor there's a guy there completely oblivious. Of course, now that I have found my calling (http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=22079), I shot him with two bursts in the back, but my point is that he should have heard me. Someone with big fucking boots should not be inaudible, especially indoors. Also, make running through bushes in the forest give off more sound...

    Footsteps should be louder

This was my request. Sorry if it didn't came through properly.
  14. It just came to me.. To end this bizarre shoot-on-sight circus that this promising mod has become more people need to become psycho killers. But it will only make matters worse you say? I think not. More and more people will get frustrated and angry because deathmatch is not what a zombie survival game should be about. Eventually they will stop playing if nothing is done. I don't think the devs are willing to let that happen, because they have plans to earn money from this mod later on, hence they will be forced to fix the problem to keep the players from leaving. Spread the word. Let the killing begin! I will now go do my duty on the beaches of Chernarus.

I have seen the light: Time to kill random strangers!

Last night I shot two other players in the back without even looking in their backpacks afterwards. One in a backyard in Dolina and one inside the supermarket in Polana. If either of you two read this: know that I did not take pleasure in your deaths, and I hope you take comfort in knowing that it was for the greater good. For great justice!

I have seen the light: Time to kill random strangers!

I think I'm at day 20 now.. But I feel it is time to make the long journey down from the north to do my duty as an tester of this game. For great justice!

    Helicopter crash sites

It's pussies like you and anyone who alt+F4s from a gun fight scared to lose their heads and gear who should be banned from the game. It's pussies like you who spawn into the air fields and loot the place and jump to another server. It's pussies like you who cheat cause you have no back bone or balls. It's pussies like you who I would love to kick in the balls and beat your face in until theres nothing left but mashed skin, hair and bone. Well, look at this. Stump jumpin' Jethro is using all three of his brain cells to type. There's nothing sweeter than the tears of bandits who shoot some random survivor in the back in the hope of getting epic loot and then get nothing but a swarm of zombies on their asses because the body with the gear suddenly disappears. I call that karma. And the raging really is most amusing, please don't stop.

  19. The ops idea is terrible' date=' but yours is just fucking stupid. [/quote'] You have a fitting nickname.
  20. You shouldn't be allowed to spawn within a minimum distance of 1 kilometer of either loot spawns or other people (unless you have marked them as friends in the currently non-existent friend system). If there are people inside that radius around the place where you logged out you should be given the option to either wait or to roll the dice and spawn at the closest convenient distance from your previous spawn. This would eliminate - server hopping from barracks to barracks - jumping servers to end up behind people or behind barricades - players getting the jump on each other by spawning in each others' faces The only downside is that you have to run a bit farther.

    ATV at Black Lake?

I found one in an open field just west of the two lakes.
  22. The problem with this game is that you have no way of knowing what your character's "vibes" are about another player's character. In real life you have no problem seeing who the troublemakers are, especially if you're used to be around people. Sure, there are sociopaths who can hide stuff like that even in real life but they are few and far between and most of them aren't good at hiding it either. While the heartbeat sound is one way of dealing with this problem in the game I think a crosshair indicator would be better. Wait, discard the word crosshair since many servers have it turned off. Call it a center-of-screen indicator.. What I propose is that if you're within a certain distance of someone, and are within line of sight, and center your screen on him (in freelook view also to avoid having to point the weapon in his face) you get info about him on your screen. The closer the distance, the more info. Typical survivor When looking at a bleeding, well-equipped player who has been alive for 10 hours but never shot anything but zombies and cows you might get "injured", "carrying heavy load" and finally "gives off a trustworthy appearance" to simulate the good vibes. Typical sociopath When looking at a freshly-spawned player who has already shot two other players just for laughs you might see "has tics", "nervous", "edgy", "looks like he wants to slit your throat" etc. When looking at a veteran player who has killed 30 other players you could get either "has a gaze of pure evil" or "seems trustworthy, but dangerous" depending on if the victims were survivors or sociopaths, or any mix in between. To balance it out maybe 1/1000 characters could be sociopaths who give off no bad vibes regardless of what they do. Discuss!

FTAO: People spawning in wasteland [Possible Fix]

Can you do this right after a successful looting trip to the NW airfield and spawn at the coast with Mk 48 + 10 mags and a ghillie suit which will help in the griefing process?
