I have not played Dayz in over 2 years and i just might be getting back into it. Alot has changed, I know NEAF and Balota weapon spawns were removed. Can you tell me all the current areas classified as high value weapon spawn areas, I don't trust the dayzdb map because it does not seem accurate(eg: air tower in Balota is classified as high weapon spawn when it is only medium at best)

It just occurred to me how useful our sense of hearing and the development of language is in inter human communication. In a zombie apocalypse(real life) the first thing you do to determine if a person is friendly is to shout at him while out of sight or behind cover. You know he heard your voice and expect a response so you can behave accordingly. "I am friendly" "I am not friendly" "I need help/food" "No response" Your response will be based upon the following postulates: You have verbally broadcasted a message The other party has heard your message and understands The other party cannot determine the source of your voice The other party replies to your message Is there anyway the mic/voice chat system can be improved to facilitate more realistic conversation? What are the limitations and problems we face now? Perhaps one limitation is we cannot control how loud we are speaking and hence the distance our voice reaches. Think about this, you ask are you friendly to a stranger and receive no reply. Did he hear you? Is he ignoring me? If there was a way to control how loud we want our virtual "voice"(voice levels) to reach say in 5m distance intervals in a radius around our character from 5-100+ meters, we can for sure if another person heard us, and hence to kill him or not to.

Simulating verbal communication with mic chat

Yeah a whisper, shout and SHOUT! option will be useful and simple -
I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss about adding gameplay themes to Dayz. What about the idea of monsters and your greatest fears that haunt your character and fills you with fear. You will have to survive this creature of darkness that follows you in the day and in the night.

Anyone remember herobrine in minecraft?

This is a movie trailer of the babdook, a horror movie where a monster from a book torments a mother and turns her mad. Could we have something similar in Dayz, where every book you find is a book about the babdook each with a message of horror and the walls are painted with blood or some other scary decorations.

Once upon a happy day in Berezino, a group of bandits in payday masks decide to hold up an innocent survivor searching for food............... Bandit group: DROP YOUR FUCKING WEAPON! HANDS UP! Survivor: Woah Woah guys. Im just looking for some food, please don't shoot look i only got a crowbar Bandit group: Dont move or we will fucking shoot you Survivor: Please i dont mean any harm, look take my stuff just dont shoot me.... Bandit leader: Oh we will let you live alright, whats the fun in just shooting you dead Survivor: What do you mean? Bandit leader: Boys, say what we take Mr. newspawn here into the woods and have some fun with him. Jones go cuff him up. *Survivor pulls out a small object in the span of less than a second Survivor: ALRIGHT EVERYONE BACK THE FUCK OFF! I've got a live grenade in my hand and the pin's out. If you kill me now the grenade goes off and BOOM we all die. NOW LOWER YOUR FUCKING GUNS! Edit: This thread is made by me and not stolen from anywhere

You are good solider. YOU ARE GOOD -
Just took a look at the blood and health damage values of the melee weapons. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Weapons#Bladed_weapons The fireaxe does 150B and 100H all other weapons do around 20B and 20H with the exception of the machete which does slightly more damage at 50B and 40H. To put things in perspective the baseball bat does the least damage at 10B and 10H, less than 1 tenth of the damage the axe does, so a single chop with an axe does more damage to a player than 10 hits from a baseball bat???? Now is it me or does the fireaxe need to be balanced with other melee weapons because of how vastly it outclasses all other melee weapons with some of them being more than 10 times weaker which makes no sense.

Yeah the other weapons need a buff

A central theme of dayz is for players to kill each other over limited food/water and to acquire better equipment. WHAT IF WE CONDUCTED AN EXPERIMENT..... On an isolated server with its own HIVE, there is unlimited food and water and guns and ammo everywhere. You are playing on the server and it is almost full, would you shoot another player who was not yet hostile to you? This experiment will separate people into two groups, people who kill for their own survival, and people who kill for the fun of it. That is the truth of Dayz, as long as there are people who kill not out of the necessity for survival, there will always be people who kill for the fun of it. And Dayz will not be fun as it is without these people. So accept the reality that Dayz is a PvP game to some and Survival sim for others, expect encounters with both types of people if you want to play Dayz.

If its any consolation he probably died soon after since you were in elektro anyway

Still no mention of when we will see more zombies in 2015

We were supposed to get these features by 2014, where are they?

That chinese word i don't think you know what it means.

I recently saw pooke's video on lockpicking with the new tool in experimental branch. I honestly didnt know that this feature would ever make it to the game or that it was even being considered. I pick locks as one of my unusual hobbies with my Southhord MPXS toolset and have a few gripes with how i think they are approaching the design and implementation of the system(i am implying that i am aware the current system is in development and will change so keep it shut if you want to whine "Alpha"). I see lockpicking systems in many games and usually let how they are so unrealistically portrayed pass without and bother because those games are usually targeted at the casual console demographic. But in the case of Dayz i see huge potential for a survival simulator to authentically recreate this action that is something within my area of interest.(hunger and thirst simulation systems are a joke, gastrointestinal simulator 2014) For the uninformed, you need TWO tools to pick a lock, a pick and a torque wrench. I am lazy to include pictures so do a google search on your own by try to imagine one tool that pushes the pins of the lock and other that TURNS the cylinder to open the door. It seems you can complete the action with just a pick multitool which is completely impossible and ridiculous to anyone who know the basics of lock picking. The good thing, is that you can use any makeshift item that will not break and is thin enough to fit inside the lock hole, so the creative team could create crafting recipes that use any of the of tools and items. Paperclips, thin metal rulers and even small scissors(possible medpack item) are good examples. Successfully picking a lock takes TIME TIME TIME. I said it, unless you have xray vision of superman or the echo hearing of daredevil to mentally visualize the internal structure of the lock you can never open a lock you are picking for the first time in less than a minute. The generally utilized professional method involves the long process of "scanning" the lock and "testing" the insides before you start picking, or you could just ram a paperclip in and out which is called raking not picking and hope for some luck which usually damages your tools and yields no success. In pookes video you can open a lock instantly just by equipping the pick and selecting the corresponding action, hell it takes more time to scroll to the right action on the mouse menu that actually picking the lock until it opens. Without going into too much detail about lockpicking theory, the process of opening the lock is a continuous process and cannot be interrupted or else you lose your progress when the pins slide back as if you never started. Another thing is that locks are generally not kept in conditions that preserve the material they are made off. Unless you are like me and keep a collection well oiled, clean and free of rust and dirt. The locks on houses harbor generally harbor dust/dirt/rust and other buildup, a key would slide in and out no problem because as something designed to fit within the hole of the lock and slide everything exactly into place. But if you had to go at it with crude instruments and fiddle your way through with the accuracy and precision even a seamstress would not be able to match with a needle and thread, you will no doubt be hindered greatly in your picking. Thankfully, there is a solution to this, a can of WD40 will generally resolve this problem and not only reduce the time needed to pick the lock but decrease the chances of your tools breaking because lubrication will give your fingers a better sense of control and spatial perception, which without the insufficiently skilled will inadvertetly end up breaking his delicate tools. So my suggestion is add cans of WD 40 to the game and give it a whole host of other functions like cleaning rifles or fixing cars, whatever, you guys can probably come up with some revolutionary suggestions

Thanks escobert for the beans:) I will be making another thread about why the development team at BI should include a psychology department to design the game for immersion and emotional experiences -
Dayz in five words or less. GO

As a young single adult male who lives on his own and regularly cooks his own meals i would like some variety in the available cuisine of DayZ. Surely it would be quite possible for survivors to combine different food ingredient items to prepare various types of dishes. Maybe we could have wild vegetable growing around the country for harvesting like in skyrim? then crafting that together at a fireplace with meat you hunted makes for a nice feast you can share with friends.
-
Customizable faces like in skyrim, make your character, live the world.
-
Take things with a grain of salt. If rocket ever said that it is complete bullshit. Character model changes will at most comprise of only small polygons/texture colour on the face, have no bearing on character animation/jigglebones and as it is character face models already clip so badly through masks/headwear it couldnt get any worse.

What kind of food recipes do you want in DayZ
