    A zombie idea

Arma 2's Undead mod kind of shows that (And that mod's 'Walker' Undead zombies have a ridiculously high health [Cannot kill them with 8x headshots from a Makarov] and hit you through walls which cause you to become infected. Usually whenever I've played this, even a small squad of soldiers is able to dispatch them assuming they don't decide to run directly into the horde (Which has happened)

    Rolling up your sleeves

This is an incredibly good idea, but they'd have to make a ton of extra models of any shirt or shirt-based item (like a coat) have rolled-up sleeves which would take up an unnecessary amount of file space and time to create. I'm not saying that I don't support it, but it seems like it would be rather pointless especially at this stage (When optimization is where their main focus is.) I'd honestly rather them fix up the engine and also the zombie's incredibly insta-sprint, strafing, and ability to hit you through doors (Especially barracks) and even sometimes the floor of a building. (I was actually killed by a zombie who started hitting me from the bottom of the steps at one of the 'pub' buildings, and I couldn't bandage myself before I was knocked out and he ate me through the floor and stairs :-P) Then again, I'd rather them focus on that than the large majority of ideas here (Props to you for having an actual decent suggestion and something that's not been done before), so take my beans :-)

    One life per day idea.

I dislike how much people exaggerate the state of most server's today. The only real differentiation that I notice on them is that they have different vehicle spawns and private hives. Some of them have gear (Especially PvP servers) but most of them don't actually have 150 vehicles on the map at a time, but 150 possible vehicles with a relatively-low chance to spawn.

    Audible gunshots

I don't know if the infected should have a huge hearing boost, especially with the mod's current Enfield. Basically, if you were to shoot it with it's actual audible range, you'd probably have 600,000 or so zombies after you and even if you managed to finish off wave one, you'd kill the last one in that horde before the zombies respawn and 600,000 more are after you.

  6. While, at the moment, all that temperature really affects is getting a cold (Which only happens if you get a really low temp.) I will try and keep this short and to the point (if possible with my personal communication structure) Temperature affects your thirst. Dehydration is something that people have to deal with a lot when stranded in the middle of nowhere. On hot days, it's well known that your body will sweat in order to keep your core temperature regulated, at the cost of your body's water levels. In the game itself, if you spent a lot of time in the sun or next to a heat source, you would (slowly) lose water at a quicker pace (Not terribly so, but as your temp. increases, it would get to a point that would be concerning). Adding this in would create a level of balance in the SA, because at the moment it seems that the game completely encourages being as warm as possible. It would make you think twice about wearing that heavy winter coat during broad daylight while you're hiking through the woods. Obviously if you kept a decent water supply, it wouldn't be bad, but it would (hopefully) add a measure of balance instead of just making players wear the heaviest coat they can in order to stay warm.

    Temperature affects survival! [SA]

Chernarus seems like it'd generally be out of climate for a tornado (Not to mention that it would be super difficult to implement.) Having days where it was visibly colder, or hotter would be interesting and require a player to sacrifice some room for extra clothes (You can obviously travel light with shorts and a t-shirt on a hot day, but if it's freezing, you might need some space for a coat.), So I'm all for it (Maybe have seasons?) I don't know about hurricanes, but having them as a rare event which would cause absolute havoc would be awesome (How about flooding? It'd be interesting to have Chernogorsk and basically the entire coast under 2 feet of water.)
  9. Chaingunfighter

    Simple idea

How about also having maps of Chernarus meant to be for specific things, such as finding a map of the railroad tracks in the train stations, or a guide to some hiking trails in the Northern Chernarussian mountains that could be found at a park ranger station or on deer stands (Used previously by hunters to help them find their way around)
  10. But there's that a video game can do that's going to stop something that functions at a complicated level in our brains. Regardless of what you do, plenty of people will still kill you after they've gotten what they wanted. They can still force the information off of you and then kill you. You're still a risk to them. Onto some other points -------------- 1st Point; The item spawn-rate in the Standalone won't be completely consistent (Meaning you're going to have an element of randomness in the loot spawns. I'm not saying there still won't be a general idea, because you're probably not going to find a MK 48 in a barn, but Rocket did confirm that they are changing the consistency of loot spawns.) 2nd Point; I don't necessarily agree with items 'moving', but there is going to be more incentive to keep moving (Considering loot spawns will be different anyway and you'll have to leave the town you're in for the spawn timer to even activate) 3rd Point; For specific items that people will generally KoS for (When it comes for the looting kind of KoS, and not the asshole/troll/fear KoS), 'information' will not be superbly valuable so long as the players know where the hospitals are. Even if you cannot tell exactly what loot a building will have from the outside, you can get a general idea of what it will have. Saying that; it's pretty much guaranteed that loot maps will be made (Unless the loot is so statistically and unrealistically random). It's still likely that hospitals will have a higher chance of medical goods than per say a barn, which will more likely spawn a hunting rifle than the latter. Obviously they will not be super-accurate, but the only real 'information' that players will need is the places to look, and they will look anyway. And as I said before, people can just kill you after they get the information they want. In fact, that is probably the safest proponent in that situation. For one thing, there's always the hazard of the player you let live getting revenge, or alerting other players. He also has information that he may share with other players, giving them access to the loot that he just gave you. The fact that he also knows where it is, means that he could easily track you down as you go to check out the spot. Hell, it could even be a trap, and there may not be any loot there at all. You'd head there and end up getting shot in the head by a sniper who was cleverly hidden on the roof of a building near yours. While the concepts that you've presented (More 'random' loot) have their own benefits, I'm the kind of critical douche that has to address the specific claims that aren't really valid.

    Make DAYZ Harder

You say 'we' when you are a part of an unofficial group of modders working on your own DayZ modification. That doesn't apply to this forum, which is specifically for the official DayZ mod and the DayZ standalone. And with the current zeds, dying only to headshots would be absolutely atrocious, not to mention that canon-wise they are not 'undead' and will still die from most things that can kill humans. If it's part of your mod, then I don't really care, but stop talking about other's suggestions in connection to YOUR mod. Why should people be punished so severely that they cannot play after death? I actually used to support this idea, but having these long wait times would heavily encourage spawn-camping people (People already do this to troll the 'new spawns' enough.) Add to that the problem of players, and you would quickly lose people's interest in the game. At any given time, there would be very few players alive in the game and servers would get depopulated dreadfully quickly, and then people would just start to leave out of boredom. I think disabling third-person should be a serverside option, but some people really prefer third-person, so it shouldn't be something that is forced onto all of the players. That's an interesting concept, but why the zombie virus? I can understand that getting bit by a zombie would get you something like Tetanus (I mean, that's one unsanitary mouth) but (from what we know) having players getting infected by the infection that killed nearly everyone itself sort of kills the realism that your character is even alive when they are. Besides that, if you actually get the zombie virus, you're basically saying that the player is going to die and has zero choice just because they got hit by a zombie. I mean, when you consider the population of Chernarus versus the number of players (Which can be 128 at the very most), it's a relatively small number of immune.

A A List Of Buildings That Would Be Fun To See In Chernarus

    1. A larger style market than the one we have now sounds fun, I doubt there'd really be any 'Walmart' sized stores, or Department stores, but a larger place with more possible loot spawns would be interesting, albeit with lowered loot chance. 2. While a car dealership as a unique type of building just to make the map interesting would be nice, I'd reckon that having more than one or two car spawns at any of these would just be unrealistic (and annoying, because people would flock here for vehicles), as people would want to steal these more than ever given the chance post-apocalypse. Also, (From what I know) large car dealerships are not common outside of places like the United States, so you'd only expect a few to spawn on the map. However, it's still an interesting idea. 3. I believe it's been discussed (Although I'm not sure if confirmed) that the devs want to have buildings like a police station, so you're probably in luck. There will be a prison, at the very least, though. 4. In the standalone, most of the buildings are going to have fully explorable interiors, like (probably) the office building. However, some differences in the ones that exist such as a 'high-rise' sound like a good idea. 5. They've actually shown screenshots of the expanded interior of the hospital, but I don't know that a huge hospital would really fit for Chernarus. The hospitals that there are as is are quite sizable for a small place like Chernarus. Even in the US, hospitals are rare in towns that are around the size of Elektro/Cherno, most would have smaller clinics and the hospitals would be in the surrounding metropolitan areas. Of course, that's not to say that they wouldn't have one, as Chernarus would still have the need for hospitals. 6. I don't think any post offices would have a pharmacy connected to them, but having one on the map seems cool. Though there really isn't much potential for unique loot (Unless they want to add 'lost' mail or envelopes as junk.) However, they would add to the aesthetics of the map, just as the train-stations do. 7. The mall is the only one I'm really against. For one thing, it makes very little sense in an almost-entirely rural country, and it would be one of the most camped areas on the map. It wouldn't fit in anyway, but everyone would see it as a huge opportunity for loot, therefore inciting bandits to camp it.

DAY SA IDEAS? MEDS? AMMO? GUNS? RARITY?

Nobody does if you look at just the official internet announcements. But if you dig around on places like these forums, Reddit, and watch some of the builds, you can see much of what is being implemented. Hell, discussion on the numbers of eastern/western weapons ended up with us seeing the beautiful Mosin Nagant which will eventually be part of the Standalone (Not in the initial alpha release, but definitely in an update)

I'd like to see trains in DayZ

Propane trains, obviously. Hank Hill would be proud.
  15. Exactly, I recently had the opportunity to fire some pretty awesome guns, one of which included a black Siminov SKS made somewhere in the 1960's/50's and it had a customized, lightweight stock and a westernized optical sight from the 1990s (Not sure exactly which one). You can bet that not everyone there is going to be using completely Russian-based firearms. Also, his post gave me hope that the M-14 or M1A will be in the standalone :-) Based on the general state of destruction and overgrowth, it's quite obvious that it hasn't been very long since the outbreak began. All of the roads are (for the most part) completely fine. While the asphalt and concrete roads would obviously last a while, most of the dirt roads and paths seem fine, so not enough time has passed for plants to overgrow them. Hell, even quite a few of the houses and lawns still have short-enough grass, so the general outbreak probably occured less than a year before DayZ takes place. However, a lot of the cars and vehicles are heavily destroyed, but my only guess is that they were probably set on fire in the destruction and spread around, or just picked apart from other survivors.I'm probably thinking into it too much, but the signs are there.

    Heroes and Bandits...

How about no mutually exclusive classes and let people choose how they want to ask? What if you'd shot a bandit who has not died yet, but is bleeding out? You can't decide to help the guy in hope that he'll change his ways? So we shouldn't send that criminal who had a high speed chase with the police that ended up with him totaling the vehicle and breaking 3 ribs to the hospital, just because he's a criminal?

The Ultra Rare in DayZ (game not mod)

While I do agree that loot should be rarer in the SA than it is in the mod (Maybe not AS rare as you've suggested, but that's irrelevant). The problem I have is that this won't really stop KoS at all. You could say it would prevent 10% of the incidents, which is noticeable but hardly marginal, but KoS banditry is usually done because the alternative offers no real benefit, save for the lack of loss in humanity. If you were to approach someone to try and steal whatever gear they had and hold them up at gunpoint, you are taking a lot of risks. For one thing, you're alerting them to your presence which would allow them to either fight back or flee. Also, if the person refuses to comply then the bandits will most likely end up shooting them anyway. Even if it solved the banditry, a lot of the people who have a limited amount of ammo will often shoot on sight out of complete fear, it's not something you can prevent at all because it's human survival instinct coming into play in the game world. You may only have a few bullets left in your rifle, but if you're nearby someone else that you don't know and is likely armed as well, it's hard to risk yourself fleeing instead of taking them out. The same thing applies to trading; although it will happen, it's usually more profitable for someone to expend a couple of bullets and be able to take everything that the other person has, which may be more bullets. Also, the region doesn't have to have a backstory for every 'exotic' weapon, as explained in some other post by a dev, around 50% of the weapons are eastern, so it's safe to assume that even imported weapons like the SG-550 series would not need a 'field testing' log. Maybe if you were to find a high-caliber anti-materiel rifle that obviously no civilian has a chance of getting their hands on and is only used in a military that obviously wasn't deployed to Chernarus, then I could see reason to explain it being there, but honestly it's not a huge deal. And the apparitions just seem unnecessary, even if interesting.

Dayz mod was great game, now is not

I find that everyone who complains to the devs to 'make it harder' or 'make it easier' are completely fuck-nut stupid. Why? Because the devs don't cater to either side; Veterans or Casuals. It's all about balance. Yes, the game is definitely meant to be unforgiving, but that does not mean that it should be set up so that only the hardcore players have any chance at all. That being said; the newer players should still have to have a hard time playing and the learning curve should intentionally be high. This is why I'm glad with Rocket's doctrine as of the new devblog; Make the options controllable at the serverside. I.E. Allow the hardcore and veteran players have their super-challenging game and allow the newer or casual players to have their 'easier' servers where maybe the loot is more common or whatnot (Of course, 'easier' does not necessarily mean easy, it could just relate to some small aspects unrelated to difficulty.) So, to everyone who honestly thinks the game has to be a certain way; no, it doesn't. Not everyone should be forced to follow the exact same conditions for the entire game.

    [SA] Seeds

The drug cartels are back, and this time, there's no Homeland Security to fight them. If this became the case I'd just hope there's all of those wacky vehicles (Gliders, Lawnchair Planes, Submarines) that people used to smuggle illegal goods across the US border as well.
  20. Chaingunfighter

    Long term endgame suggestions

In the Standalone they've already confirmed that they have hundreds of different clothing articles implemented and they plan on making many more. The only direct rewards you should get from clearing out a horde or group of zeds should be; 1. The loot that any of the zeds had on them 2. The fact that the area is now safer from them.
  21. To be straight on the point; why not have the ammunition spawning changed up where magazines will spawn empty or with less ammo than full capacity, as well as finding individual bullets on the ground. Besides being realistic (I mean, not ALL of the ammunition is going to still be with the original magazine), it would also give players a reason to take empty ones. You'd have a chance of spotting small bullets around but you wouldn't have much use for them if you didn't have a magazine to load them into, so you'd might want to take an empty one to keep your ammo supply up. This could also keep ammunition rare, as most of the ammo you find would be incomplete so it would be a much more valuable resource. Just my two cents on this idea.

[SA] Looting Empty/Depleted Magazines and Individual bullets

You're all welcome people. Sorry I was born.
  23. Well, I don't think the fact that you can carry two types of the same rifle justifies removing the ability at all. I mean, the M4 is a very compact rifle and there's generally no need to carry two of them but it is easily possible to put a second one in certain backpacks, or sling it over your shoulder. This would be a mainly pointless endeavor because they draw from the same ammo pool but it allows you to provide weaponry for multiple group members and with weapon degradation, you could use it as a backup weapon. And that also doesn't mean that you couldn't carry other weaponry. You might take that lucky M4A1 which you've tricked out with an aimpoint sight, m203 grenade launcher and whatever other accessories, but the 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition is relatively rare (And will be super-rare in the SA if anything the devs have said is true). You're not going to want to waste your very rare ammo on a couple zombies or to shoot an animal that you were hunting if you'd need that ammo much more for that huge horde of zombies you somehow managed to encounter or a hostile player who has a lot of firepower. Instead, you could carry a CZ-550 in your backpack for picking off stragglers or hunting, because the ammo is more common and the weapon is useful in different ways than the M4A1. I definitely agree that there should be drawbacks for carrying multiple firearms with a lot of ammunition, but it can come in handy a little more often than you'd think. Unless you'd rather shoot a moose with a Makarov.

What's your opinion on the 1.7.7 patch? (POLL)

I don't know why people are complaining about 'lowered loot spawns' so much, it still seems like gear is super common, it's just very spread out in an unrealistic manner. Still, raiding the NWAF with my buddy turned up; 2 MP5s, 1 DMR, 1 M4A1 and 1 AKS-74U, and a fuck-ton of ammunition for the MP5. I don't like how unrealistically spread out the loot is, though.
  25. Chaingunfighter

Give us a melee weapon slot!

I'm surprised that you were able to say; I'd always read that it's slot based, with weight being considered later down the track with weight being considered later down the trac And yet come up with nothing based on what you said and what I was exactly talking about. God, I can't understand why everyone hates me so much.
