Use scraps to craft ammo or other stuff?
Chaingunfighter replied to kyle939's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Making bullets is not an easy task. It takes a long time even with basic machinery and can also be very dangerous if any mistakes are made, as it's more likely to misfire or jam. Besides that, I doubt that there are THAT many people that know how to make bullets at all. -
Zombies that look like survivors would be kind of fun (Though I don't really see the point in the SA), but having a dead survivor 'turn' is something that's been asked for a million times and will not be in the game. Actually, the zombie variety in the current mod really sucks, it's just a bunch of mechanics, villagers (Jamie Hyneman), soldiers, cops, doctors and hunters. There's no real variety, especially to the civilian type of zombies.

Quoting Duke Nukem; "Oooh, that's gotta hurt."
-
I'd say that the 9.3x74R would probably be the best choice, that way the ammunition is at least somewhat possible elsewhere. But for a gun that costly, it'd probably be one of the rarer civilian weapons. Then again, we may just be looking into it a little bit too much :P
-
According to the ammo classname in A2, it's a .17 HMR But I haven't delved into the configs so it may be something different in the files.
-
I still hope that in the SA they will eventually allow custom servers :P
-
I still think the AUG would make sense :P And the CZ-75 WILL be in the game, there was a screenshot of it at one of the big gaming events (Can't remember which one)
-
I guess we'll just have to wait for the standalone (Or whatever update this gun comes in) to see what it's called.
-
Not even the flare gun? The Uzi makes more sense than the .500 does :P
-
Ah, I couldn't exactly tell from the way the photo was shown, but that DOES look like a sort of customized Krieghoff K-80. The K-80 is very modifiable, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it is. I really hope they don't start making fictional guns :| (But it is still a shotgun, unlike how the page calls it a hunting rifle)
-
That looks like a Perazzi MX8, not a hunting rifle. From the perspective of the image, it looks like the barrel is shorter than an actual MX8 though. (Maybe it's a Sawed-Off version or a completely different weapon)

"He could only pull a plow and wagon, they said. He could only help out the farmers, they said. He wasn't of any use to the survivors, they said. Well, look at me now. Look at me! LOOK AT ME!"
-
This would be fine if you could only do it while under the possession of a gold pocket watch that spawns a fake dead body after you take any (even lethal) damage, while still allowing you to survive. (Note that using it will remove all of your random critical attacks)

DayZ is on the Arma 2, and the SA is on the Take on Helicopters engine. I'm not sure exactly how they'd port a map backwards, and I also think it may break the limits of the previous engine, since Altis (not Atlis) has pretty much every building enterable and is MUCH larger than Chernarus.

I think that a masterkey would be applicable so long as it's not a 'craftable' one, but a rare one that's only available as an attachment to certain weapons.
-
Yeah, what is this; Call of Duty? The CZ-75 Automatic is a super difficult handgun to acquire by a civilian, even in major gun-owning countries like the US. I'm for an AUG, UZI and Flare Gun, though. I want there to be a large variety of military guns, even if ammunition has to be really rare and they are also very hard to find.

The Steyr AUG is not a bad weapon choice for the SA, as long as it's super rare (Like a lot of other foreign assault rifles save for things like the FN FAL, G3 Series, M16/M4 Series and AK series) For the Super-Shorty, I'm not entirely against it but it's not a hugely common shotgun even in the US (I mean, plenty of people have them but it's not particularly common here). I would be fine with some more double-barrel and low capacity shotguns, as well as civilian and military pump-actions, lever-actions and semi-automatics [Maybe automatic shotguns at a later date, but I'd rather them focus on more common weapons first] The Flare Gun is good idea, and would be great for signalling as well as dispersing hordes of zombies, with an added self-defense mechanic. The UZI is another weapon I think is pretty much a must have, it's really common and also equally bad-ass. The SA actually has a CZ-75 pistol, it was shown in one of the 'devblogs' that was done at some expo (I forget which one), but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't the automatic variant, which is quite rare. I'm not against machine pistols, however, like the Glock 18, Vz. 61 and Tec-9 (If they add a Tec-9, must come with a Lowrider 1960's Cadillac with Golden Rims) I'm not to sure about the S&W 500, .500 is a rare ammunition type (Much like the Desert Eagle's .50AE). While they definitely need to expand on revolvers, it seems like a .500 one is overkill. It might work as a late added weapon, but I'd rather they focus on calibers like .44, .357/.38, and .22 first

SA idea - You have died, or have you?
Chaingunfighter replied to lord3n's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Honestly I'd rather just have someone kill me or i'd join a different server if I was forced to lie around for an hour on the ground. It's a good idea in theory, but it gets incredibly annoying after a while; it happens already when you fall unconscious for a VERY LONG TIME after taking a massive amount of damage. I've actually had to wait around an hour and a half for my character to respawn once (from surviving a UH-1H crashing right in front of my GAZ and dealing huge damage). I would've normally just left, but I had things I could do in the background while I waited. -
Carta A Boemia y la comunidad de DayZ
Chaingunfighter replied to sycopata's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Games like TF2 pulled it off because they offer most of the game for free but also allow a lot of non-game changing content to be purchased ahead of time at the user's discretion. While 200 is a lot of lives, it's generally not going to last the majority of players a huge amount of time (Depending on how much you play, I'd say a 5-6 months at most for the regular players) This is also penalizing people who either are victims of hacking (Which is practically unpreventable on the victim's side), kills from glitches (Which are again out of the user's hands) and KoS (Which I'm not against, but it's really hard to avoid an enemy that you don't even know is there, even if you use really good stealth and evasion) Most of the people who aren't hardcore players would probably just stop playing when they ran out of lives because of how ridiculous this system is. The penalty for death should be death, not forcing the player to essentially buy the game again in order to keep playing. -
idea for more secret stash places for hide loot
Chaingunfighter replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think it would be interesting, although difficult to implement, different kinds of locks that either had a certain combination or only fit specific keys that could be used with lockers/safes/boxes If you knew the combination or had a working key, then you could potentially have a very safe (ha ha) place to store items, but they would be very rare and if you lost the key or somehow forgot the combination then you'd be screwed. You could also use this system to spawn different types of safes around the world and have decent loot spawn inside (Weapons, Ammo, Maps, etc.) but have the key spawn separately so that it wouldn't just be easy access (Or it could, if you were lucky enough to have Safe B and Key B spawn nearby) -
An Idea I had from ZPS. (Standalone/mod)
Chaingunfighter replied to LancerG2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The problem with having the same system as ZPS is that ARMA has much larger worlds than the Source engine can even be created (Chernarus is somewhere like 120x larger than GM_Bigcity) It would be incredibly inconvenient to have a stamina bar while moving up north or even just in between cities in general. A weight system might be better, but it doesn't really seem like with the SA's current inventory type that it would work well. -
We Need Rarer Supplies. More Random Spawning positions.
Chaingunfighter replied to King of kong's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That's not necessarily true. I've been fired upon by KOS'ers in DayZ who ended up getting killed, and looking on their corpse I'd found that they only had a few bullets left, at most. (The majority had emptied their weapon) -
*DAYZ SA SKIN SUGGESTIONS*
Chaingunfighter replied to SgtSneakyBastard's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Considering the massive amounts of clothing/accessories they have planned for the Standalone, I'm sure that Ten-Gallon hats would not be impossible, but asking for anything more than that is just going overboard. -
The CZ-550 in Arma 2 is a .17 HMR which usually wouldn't be a one-shot kill to the body, but yes it would to the head. It's still pretty realistic, especially with mods like A.C.E. and Project Reality.

A A List Of Buildings That Would Be Fun To See In Chernarus
Chaingunfighter replied to carbine781 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think that the Roman empire spread out as far as to wear Chernarus is canonically. They did conquer the land that is now the Czech Republic, but not eastern Russia.
