    "Confirmed" DayZ weapons, and ideas

Yeah, they said that the Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 wouldn't be in initial Alpha, but that was before it got delayed yet again. The Ruger 10/22 and the Blaser B97 give hopes for more hunting rifles, and hopefully we can get rifles/shotguns like the Remington 700, Browning Auto-5, Steyr SSG-69, CZ-550, Ruger Mini-14 and Zastava M76. Something that really bothered me about the footage they showed so far is that they classify the ammo as simply '7.62mm Ammo' or '5.56mm Ammo' Fallout-style. I really hope that is just a placeholder because they don't have guns of different 7.62 ammo types, as a Mosin-Nagant and AKM are not going to fire the same ammo, nor are a Mosin-Nagant and a G3A3, even though they are all 7.62mm guns.

The remington was shown at a gaming event back around March or so, I have a picture of it.

    "Confirmed" DayZ weapons, and ideas

Oh, they did? I must have a bad memory, but then again, it was a three hour stream and I also had it in the background while I was working on some stuff at some parts. And yes, I was.

    "Confirmed" DayZ weapons, and ideas

And they showed a Remington 870 (Images) as well as an IzH-43 Shotgun in the recent livestream. The Lee-Enfield has not been confirmed as far as I know, and the Standalone's revolvers will probably have an actual name as there will (hopefully) be more than one. A better list would be; Rifles - M4A1 (Fully-implemented, most likely) - AK-74 (Was previously implemented as placeholder w/ old model, new one has been shown) - Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 (Likely fully-implemented) - Ruger 10/22 (Only images have been shown) - Blaser B97 (Only images have been shown) - Mauser-type rifle (Only confirmed through blog-post) Shotguns - IzH-43 (Implemented, not completely working as shown in Livestream) - Remington 870 (Only images have been shown) Handguns/Revolvers - FN X-45 (Implemented, mostly working) -- Rocket accidentally calls it the FN P, but the in-game text as well as model shows otherwise. - CZ-75P (Only images have been shown) Also keep in mind that any of what has been shown might be scrapped or remove (Hell, they could even take out the M4A1 if they really wanted to, even though it's unlikely that they will scrap the work they've done on anything shown so far) And when was the SKS confirmed? It will almost certainly be in-game as it is such a common rifle in the area of Chernarus, but I don't remember them talking about it being in at all.

Gun attachments? What kind would you like to see?

Mainly M203, GP-25 and GP-30 grenade launchers (Also M320/EGLM if possible)

    With standalone approaching.... AIRPLANES

Maybe in custom mods, but the official version only has Little Birds, Humvees and a lot of vanilla A2 equipment because the mod was never expected to be superbly popular and thus did not have a ton of custom development. If you are talking about a real state, then I find it highly unlikely they would use anything above but the M4/M16 and HMMWVs. And it is true that aircraft deteriorate much more quickly than a simpler vehicle like a UAZ (I'm pretty sure tanks break down quickly too), but they can be stored in hangars and most of the parts that deteriorate at a quick rate can be replaced (The chassis of a helicopter will be good for a pretty damn long time). Also, DayZ doesn't give much indication that a lot of time has passed considering the lack of overgrowth on roads and buildings as well as the rather fresh corpses littering the area.

    With standalone approaching.... AIRPLANES

I would actually be very surprised if a satellite state like Chernarus did not have any helicopters. Remember; the CDF still exists, and they would likely have at least a few MI-8/MI-17 helicopters, as well as some MI-24s and possibly other types that they purchased. I'm not saying that I want people to be flying around in a gunship, but I do think that a few helicopters (And yes, some of them being armed) would make a good edition as long as they require high-maintenance and are not easy to fly. I find it unlikely that every helicopter would be destroyed and rendered completely inoperable.

Hiding stuff underwater in the SA?

The standalone isn't based on ARMA 3, so anything underwater-based would have to be coded in separately. However, assuming they did set up an underwater engine, they'd need to factor in the effects of water on certain items (in both long and short periods of time) and how items could drift around; it wouldn't make much sense if you left an M16A2 hidden at the bottom of a lake for an in-game week and pull it out expecting it to be in perfect condition.
  9. How about Far Cry 2 durability? That was atrociously bad.

    Why no Zombie children again?

Exactly. I don't understand why people think that something hard and rather pointless to make is a bad excuse. I mean, if DayZ really wanted realism, then they would have to model hundreds of different guns, all of which there would only be 1 or 2 of globally, because rare guns make it everywhere. But it would be pointless to even bother doing that.

    Why no Zombie children again?

I don't see this being a part of the game that is absolutely imperative for it to be fun. Not that it wouldn't be interesting, but I don't see this changing much. Also, the game would likely be banned in Australia and Germany (similar to Left 4 Dead 2, which was banned because of intense gore [even though Valve later changed the versions for those countries]) and possibly in other countries as well. It's not really worth the effort to put in something which not everyone has the opportunity to experience, because unlike L4D2's clientside gore, players from tons of other countries join the same servers (including Australians and whoever.)

    [SA] Dead Military Patols?

In the standalone, an AKM or AK-74 will be pretty good tier loot.
  13. Chaingunfighter

Ideas that could make DayZ Standalone great.

Somehow I don't think a crocodile would live in Chernarus' seemingly colder environment.

    [SA] Types of Sights

There are plenty of different attachments in the SA: sights, scopes/optics, slings, rails, stocks, bayonets, magazines and, (most likely) some underslung weapons.

    Additional maps

Good god people, Taviana and Namalsk are completely non-canon islands and aren't in any way related to the official games of Arma nor DayZ. Those maps were user-made and converted to DayZ a while after they were created. They may eventually create new locations, but I doubt they will use anything that's already been made and they will probably create a new environment. Having a major point of interest that almost no one gets access to would be a waste of time to create. Even on servers with large amounts of players, the biggest concentration of them is going to remain on the Chernarussian mainland and only groups traveling to its' outlying islands. If they were really going to add a whole new area, they may as well just make it as a separate map entirely. I'd rather them just expound upon Chernarus rather than make a new map anyway. I'd love to see Novigrad, their actual capital. That would probably be a medium sized city of about 80,000-100,000 people rather than Chernogorsk which supports around 10,000-15,000 people.

learn lesson from counter strike mistake

Besides the obvious problems that come with implementing this, it would be incredibly hard for them to implement this as the Arma engine was not at all designed for something like this.

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

My post was assuming a deployment from United States/NATO troops (Which the current DayZ form seems to suggest, considering the HMMWVs, crashed UH-1Ys as well as USMC Pilot zombies). If there was going to be any western equipment there, I justified it with a mainly American set of weapons as their military would be there. I don't know how likely you are to find any MG-42s (Or any WW2 'MG' type guns at all), but weapons like the KAR-98, Walther P38, Luger P08 and possibly the MP-40 are definitely viable options. The Tokarev TT-33, PPSh-41, Mosin-Nagant, SVT-40, SKS and RPD were all used in WW2 (Some to a very limited degree) and are still hugely common in the world, so I'd love to see them. American Military Confirmed: Taken from the DayZ Devblog created on September 7.

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

Taking care of your firearm is very important. Also, we don't really have any (realistic) major threat to us that would involve using a semi-automatic medium-capacity rifle for that we don't have better alternatives for, I.E. using hunting rifles and shotguns for animals. We save the AR-15 for the human threat. The Russians don't have as much of a selection of weaponry to use, and thus can't specialize their weapons as much and have to use the same gun for multiple purposes. It's how we live and what we fear that changes how we use and maintain our guns. Also, a lot of those guns on the Wikipedia list were prototypes, or produced in limited quantities, or just wouldn't make sense. (Be ready for a long list) The guns I think would make sense (From an eastern standpoint); Tokarev TT-33, Makarov PM, Makarov PB (Makarov with integrated silencer), MP-443 (Yarygin PYA), APS Stetchkin, Nagant M1895, KS-23, Saiga 12, PPSh-41, PPS-43, PP-19, PP-91 Kedr, PP-2000, Mosin-Nagant, SVT-40, SKS, SV-98, SVD, KSVK (Possibly), AN-94, AKM/AKMS, AK-74/AKS-74/AK-74M/AKS-74M, AKS-74U, AK-105, AK-12, DP-28, RPD, RPK-47/74, PK/PKM, RPG-2, RPG-7/RPG-7D/RPG-7V, Type 69 RPG, Type 56, Vz.61 Skorpion, Vz.56 and CZ-75. That's a lot of guns, but it would not entirely be interesting if it were only those. Combine it with the; Colt M1911, Beretta M9, Glock 17/19/Other Variants, SIG P226/P228/P229, MP5A3/A5, MP5SD3/SD6 (MP5 with integrated silencer), M4/M4A1, M16A2/M16A4, M249/FN Minimi, M240/FN Mag, M60E4/MK43, M24, M40A5, M39 EMR, G3A3/G3KA4, PSG-1, Accuracy International AWM/AWSM, Remington 870, Benelli M4 Super 90/M1014, MK16, M320 GL, Milkor MGL/M32, M136/AT-4, FN FAL, IMI Uzi, and I think you've got a pretty well-balanced list. The AK-74, Mosin-Nagant, M4A1, Remington 870, Ruger 10/22 and CZ-75 have been (practically) confirmed (Screenshots of in-progress of the Nagant, 10/22, CZ-75 and 870 have been shown, and the AK-74 and M4A1 have both been shown in action)

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

That's probably true, I just suggested it as an alternative to the pre-existing M14 considering it would be more likely (Though the M39 would be my first bet) I just like the M14 too much :P

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

What about a civilian Springfield M-1A rifle? Essentially the same thing, just manufactured for non-military customers. I guess I can agree on the AUG. However, you could just say that Chernarus utilized the AUG in their military. It is a fictional scenario and I honestly think that the people on this forum are thinking about it a little too much. Just a little. (Realism and authenticity are important, but it sometimes it gets to a point where it gets obnoxious and people begin worrying about unimportant issues.)
  21. Chaingunfighter

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

No one's asking for those. I don't see how having a Steyr AUG or M14 is really 'ruining the immersion' as long as they are appropriately rare.
  22. Chaingunfighter

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

That's why they could balance it out with the addition of more and superbly common Eastern weapons, and then have a good variety of Western weapons, too, but have them spawn at a relatively lower rate than (most of) the Eastern weapons.
  23. Chaingunfighter

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

It's a fictional country, so that doesn't really rule out the possibility of it being ingame. That's beside point - I agree that the current models in-game don't make any sense (the military style M14 and DMR) and something like the M39 EMR or MK14 would be a good replacement. That being said, I still maintain that a civilian-ish M-1A rifle (Essentially an M14, slightly modified) and a Mini-14 should be in the game. (And assuming that the bases were not US, then obviously main-service weapons of whatever country that base was from would replace it; i.e. the L85, L110A1 (Minimi) and L7A2 (Mag) )
  24. Chaingunfighter

    Standalone: Foreign Weaponry

I think this completely blew over your head; it's an explanation for why the foreign weapons are there. Also, the M14 is completely plausible, it's still in service in the US as well as many other countries, and was heavily exported. I have no idea why you hate it being in the game so much. Edit: With only Russian/Eastern Bloc weaponry the game would get immensely boring. Obviously the Mosin-Nagant, SVT-40, SKS, Type 56, Tokarev TT-33, Vz. 61, RPD, RPK, AK-74M, PPS-43 and PPSH-41 are a 'must-have', but a good ol' M-14 (Or M-1A, or Mini-14 for crying out loud) is still something worth having.

    Idea for preventing combat logging

Then people would just run it in a windowed mode and kill the process with task manager.
