Standalone to include 'Report Player' option?
Chaingunfighter replied to TIC's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Option 1 - Considering it's the Standalone I doubt any players will have weapons they aren't supposed to, unless they were somehow able to spawn W.I.P. or debug weapons, and just because someone has a program on their computer is not liable enough to ban them (As long as they don't use it in DayZ) Option 2 - While this could technically be a good idea, oftentimes servers have lower numbers of players or have large clans roving around who could easily just group up in order to get people kicked off for no good reason Option 3 - They would get too many reports for this to be feasible. -
(SA) Remove military loot from the coast
Chaingunfighter replied to Nyz01's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Considering the only 'real' military weapons in the game (so far) are the M4A1, and arguably the FNX-45, it's only going to make it difficult for survivors who want to make it up North get there (And the only other guns are the .357 Magnum and the Mosin-Nagant). Obviously when the final game is ready and there are plenty of different civilian and military weapons, Balota could be a low-level military spawn while the other towns have the extensive civilian weapon list and people will have a reason to travel elsewhere. -
Very minor complaint, but they honestly should just keep it as the 'Colt Python' or something remotely similar other than just a 'Magnum .357', because when they generically name guns it implies that there will only be one or two firearms of each type. That is all.
-
Well you can clearly see it is saying something like "Colt's Manufacturing Company", which is what is on the actual side of the Python. Also, the gun has the same appearance.

[ S.A. ] New suggestions ( Crashsites, Cameras, compass attachment, binoculars ..etc )
Chaingunfighter replied to angrybird9's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
While I agree with most of your post, getting infected and dying in an hour is bad enough (without antibiotics), now only getting an hour to live after getting shot seems to mean that taking any damage is technically certain death. -
I wasn't suggesting actually changing it to 'Colt Python', but moreso giving it a fake but unique name, rather than something generic.

Specialty Shops and buildings

I'd find something like a pharamacy or tool store believable, but I think western-ish places like gun/sport-goods stores would probably be very rare in those countries.- 1 reply

Well, when you only have four guns, it's not unlikely that you'll have temporarily skewed proportions
-
Every gun attracts KoS players, as long as it has good accuracy. Those snipers just make it easier, but as long as they are well rare enough it's fine.
-
I don't know, you probably won't find any Federov Avtomat's in Chernarus, although that gun is so underrepresented in games and is technically the real first assault rifle (And I would not mind if they put it in even as a super rare find). I also question the likelihood of an actual MG-42 showing up (it might, but it'd be super rare.) A better alternative would be the MG-3, which would make sense. The StG-44 and DP-28 would definitely make good additions, but they would still have to be very rare considering they are only used in limited quantities. They absolutely need the AKS-74U and SVD, perfect guns for the game. Also, considering they have the FNX-45, I would not find it hard to believe that the USP, HK45, P2000 and Mark 23 might appear (The Mark 23 especially considering US Special forces would actually be the most likely presence out of all US troops)
-
Two or three? So you're saying that alongside the M4A1 there should only be essentially two more? And being that the AK-74 is planned you only want one other military rifle besides that? My guess is that they'd have to pick the AKM for realism at any rate.
-
Now for the really, long list; Really Long List:
-
I highly doubt you're going to find a Welrod in Chernarus. Very few of them were built and even fewer survive to this day. Most of them are either owned by museums and/or privately owned and I could guess that maybe 4-5 of those are outside of the US/UK.

SBR's and fighting from a vehicle in Standalone
Chaingunfighter replied to thomas28's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
True, but I wouldn't want to be using an M14 for clearing out an inside location. -
It's not the most unrealistic gun around. Maybe nothing special like the MG36 or shit like that, but I can imagine Chernarussian special-operations at least testing the G36C and G36K variants.

Considering there is already an M4A1 (and likely will be more assault rifles), an SKS is still going to demand more 'skill' than a lot of other guns. Also keep in mind that the SKS perfectly fits the setting and scenario. -
Is this official o_O? Or am I just getting confused with some mod for A2/A3, because that is awesome quality right there. And hooray for the AG36.

[SA] Malus and bonus for humanity
Chaingunfighter replied to Pao (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I can almost guarantee that in an apocalyptic-scenario there would be people who hunt and kill people for 'fun'. It already happens in the modern world, in poor, war-ridden countries in Africa/Asia. You're not going to suddenly become stiff-limbed and go from 20-20 vision to 40-40 just because you kill a bunch of people. -

You're in luck, they've made a model of the 10/22 and discussed the addition of the SKS. -
"Confirmed" DayZ weapons, and ideas
Chaingunfighter replied to thedogfoodyayho's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
From the looks of that, that would make up two rifles, one handgun and one shotgun. You could sub-divide it into an assault rifle, straight-up rifle, shotgun and pistol, but that still doesn't include any sub-machineguns, revolvers, battle-rifles, machine-guns, nor explosives of any type. We don't know what guns will appear in the Alpha. Dean was talking about how the IzH-43 wasn't even fully implemented so it might not even be in the initial alpha but remain in the dev-build. There may be more guns that they just simply did not find or may make it into the game before the alpha is released. -
Completely review the operation of survival!

Highlighting words like 'force' does not make the game sound appealing it all, it makes you sound like a dickhead. Forcing players to eat every six seconds and become infected every time you're hit assures that the game will be very boring and annoying to play. -
All of my guns would look like this

Remove gamma and brightness settings
Chaingunfighter replied to RollingLizard1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Third-Person is not an exploit. It was clearly intended for the game. The gamma settings are technically an exploit but in all honesty the current night-time is so bad that you almost feel forced to. If they were to correct the night-time to make it playable than I'd have no problem with a reduction in this type of option, but keep in mind that people have monitors which look incredibly dark. -
"Confirmed" DayZ weapons, and ideas
Chaingunfighter replied to thedogfoodyayho's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, even though a lot of World-War 2 era weapons survived and had major use even until now, guns like the PPSh-41 are much harder to find than something like a Mosin or Enfield because they are inexpensive and reliable, while also usually complying with firearms laws (Whereas PPSh sub-machineguns are automatic and not legal in a lot of places). Still, Chernarus has a lot of guerrilla activity so it could be justified as a weapon held by rebels or whatnot. It's definitely a gun worth having if not for need of more sub-machineguns, because honestly SMGs are not super common anywhere. And honestly, I would say that almost all of the guns in DayZ are 'OP' by the other poster's logic, the Enfield and Winchester in the mod are found everywhere and ammo is just as common, and they can usually kill in 1-2 shots. The only real downside to them is that they have a large zombie attraction radius, but the winchester's sound isn't actually that loud and won't attract players easily.
