Just 2¢ from someone who has used these weapons in his day job

I'd still hope they add an AKM, because the game isn't actually in Russia, in a place that (through ArmA canon, which they have no real reason not to include) just went through a huge civil war between three main Chernarussian factions, two of whom used the AKM/AKMS mainly (ChZdK Insurgents and Chedaki Independents) and the CDF still used them to a limited extent. The AK-74, being their main rifle, would probably be more common, but I can imagine that with militia and police units servicing the AKM it would still be a fairly common sight among AK-74s and AK-100s. I hope, sincerely, that they change the name eventually. Naming something the "magnum" implies that there will only be one gun of that type at all, which sort of bothers me considering the Colt Python is a relatively poor choice if they wanted only one .357 revolver

    Mosin Nagant Modification Suggestions

    I don't know that we need sawed-off versions of every gun :P Next think we know it's this;

    Sig Sauer P226

So, the Sig Sauer P226... let's talk about it for a minute (or two, depending on how long it takes you to read this). The Sig Sauer P226 is an incredibly useful handgun, having a decent 13 round capacity, as well as being chambered in 9x19mm, .357 Sig and .40 S&W (Probably only one of those calibers for DayZ). It is known for extreme reliability, and is rather ergonomic to hold (I've used one before, and it is). Any player looking for a reliable pistol would surely take a P226 over the FNX-45 or the Magnum as of yet, being that it stands in a middle ground of the two. However, the handgun costs a high price on the market and is not something that your average farmer or civilian in a post-soviet agricultural state would own. For that reason, I'd propose that it be strictly found in military/law-enforcement type locations, as I can imagine the gun's popularity would lend some to show up in Chernarus. I know that the devs have no reason to focus on this, and in the end it's just another military gun in a game that is supposed to revolve around civilian and improvised weapons (i.e. melee). However, I think that the P226 is a perfectly reasonable pistol to work on sometime in the long run and it's something I personally want to see eventually. What I want to know now is; what do you think? I made this poll because the P226 is one of my favorite all-time guns and I want to see how the community feels about having one. (Also, devs, add an Eotech to the M4 attachments if copyright restraints won't prevent you from even using a similar looking device, which I fear Eotech does actually claim on) (Re-posted to standalone suggestions)

Remove Atmospheric Sound of Chain Link Fence

I'd rather have the fence sound than have random ambient noises which would confuse many a people. Distant gunshots, moans and screams would make people think that there is a danger around when there actually isn't. Also, zombies who would normally react to things like gunshots wouldn't, confusing people who didn't recognize the ambience. Also, having a ton of prevalent sounds like that do get repetitive (Just play the end chapters of Half-Life: 2, you'll hear the same ambient gunshot noises 15000 times)

    G 36 Please

I do not understand why so many people want to see modern rifles, most of the super high-tech guns you find in common culture today wouldn't really be found over in Chernarus. Then again, the devs already have unrealistic weapons like the FNX-45 and Colt Python so I wouldn't discount it. I'd rather them do an HK-416 and G3A3 if they really wanted German ARs.

    Sig Sauer P226

CZ-75P is a compact 9x19mm pistol, the FNX-45 is a .45 ACP pistol, the Colt Python (Magnum) is a .357 revolver. The P226 could be in .40 S&W, making it a balance between the high caliber .45 and the lower caliber 9x19mm. Also, variety, as everyone running around with either a CZ-75 or FNX-45 or Magnum would get boring and "gamey" too quickly. Call of Duty: Ghosts, I'd assume?

    Sig Sauer P226

    I don't like the non-sawed-off IZH-43, what's your point?

    Sig Sauer P226

I actually want to see a Tokarev TT-33 first. Although the Makarov is a good choice, the Tokarev is a more civilian pistol. The main reason I feel that they should do it first, is because the FNX-45 is a military handgun and the Colt Python is a revolver, so I'd like a civilian semi-automatic handgun first. That being said, the Makarov is a good handgun and I want to see it.

    Sig Sauer P226

I tried to keep that in mind while posting, but I figure that because of how internationally popular the P220 series has become that it's not unrealistic to at least find a few around that were being used for testing. I'd much rather have them focus on improvised weapons and eastern handguns like the Makarov, Tokarev, Nagant 1895, MP-443 and Walther P-38 first, but still, in the long run I want to see a Sig : )

    Zombies drop loot

I think they should do what they did in the mod; have a small chance of spawning with an item relating to their status before becoming infected (Military zombies would sometimes have ammo/gear, Civilians would have food/trash, Doctors would have medical items, etc.) I don't think zombies should spawn with any weapons on them, though, and if they do it can only be something small like a knife.

    No Combat Log In Radius

Unexpected things turn up, and sometimes disconnecting becomes necessary. What if you're playing with a group? I don't want to have to kill someone else just to disconnect.

    Blood trails and scent.

This would be a death sentence to anyone who accidentally gets hit by a zombie, as being hit by even one will guarantee that every other zombie in the town will be on you.

    Actually make ACOG 4x?

They also need to have an Eotech/Kobra sight. I would love to be able to actually use the M4 in close quarters with the abysmal accuracy it has.
  14. I can guarantee you would not want to eat raw food after the apocalypse has happened. In the modern day and age, 'raw foodists' can get away with it (not that I believe it is, in any way, better for you) because even raw food is well preserved and cleaned, but you would never want to eat an animal you just killed raw, nor food that's been lying around for days, or weeks. No raw-food/veganism is necessary in a survival game, the only reason we have vegans now is because we do not need to struggle to survive on a daily basis

    Suggest an Item Thread!

But in the context of this thread, it's just listing off pretty much every gun and item ever suggested. Most of them do not fit the scenario (I.E. TDI Vector, FN SCAR etc.) or are just not common enough (Sako R-95, for example). I do want to see quite a lot of the guns suggested, though.

    M1 Carbine?

An amazingly high amount of seven. I think that a Mini-14 would be a much better choice. .223 ammo instead of .30 and a civilian weapon that probably exists in Europe.

    Suggest an Item Thread!

I'm thinking the water pistol would be too unbalanced, even if realistic. The Existence Eliminator may also be, but I think those are common enough to justify.

    Berets more useful

Meh, seems a bit OP. Add [No Random Crits] and it's much more balanced (looking at you, Valve.)
  19. Chaingunfighter

    ADD LTL ROUNDS!

Well, I can't imagine nonlethal rounds being too common. Even then, it's really stupid to use them in a firefight unless you were desperate. I would only ever switch to those rounds if I really needed them, preferring regular ammunition over them. I can say having some form of nonlethal ammo would be cool, though, because incapacitating an enemy would work for bandits or people outside of firefights.

Master List of Equipable Items the Community Wants in the Game

It's not not "my" site, I just contribute to it. Not a lot of people do, though, which kind of sucks, because I find that almost all DayZ resources are incomplete at the moment.

Master List of Equipable Items the Community Wants in the Game

Yeah, there's no guarantee any of it will be in the game until it's in the game. I always tell myself to be sure of that, because I've played games before where content was even listed in the next patch notes and ended up being left out for whatever reason. Still, I think it's safe to assume it will be in, the devs have no good reason to abandon their hard work, but nonetheless. I just was pointing that out so the information had a source and didn't seem like it was because I made it up.

Master List of Equipable Items the Community Wants in the Game

The AK-74M, Blaser B97, Ruger 10/22, CZ-75P and Remington 870 aren't rumored, there are screenshots of them around. I just added them to the wiki weapons page whilst organizing it for the sake of having them there, without actually making pages for them yet. I guess none of the weapons are 'confirmed' but it's safe to say that they will be in considering the devs have talked about them more than once and released screenshots. Blaser B97 Crossbow AK-74M (Also confirms the GP-30 grenade launcher) Couldn't find the one with the 10/22, 870 and CZ-75P, but there is a screenshot somewhere on the internet. The SKS has already been added into the game, by the way. And don't get your hopes up for an AK-12 (not realistic, at all) or an AK-47 (Chances are there will only be either an AKM or AK-47, not both)

    Immersion Expansion - 1

I would love them to add more enterable areas (they do have some more planned) but I think part of the reason they don't is because places like the hotel are not on a 1:1 ratio with human size (look at some of the furniture inside houses!). Basements are another feature I'd like, but they would be hard to implement on pre-existing places due to the terrain and the fact that they've already finished the loot spawns. I do think that they are good ideas. Climbing through windows is something they should take a look at, for sure. And I do like the idea of having more urban areas. When they said they would urbanize the map more, most of the work went into the North of the map, not really the center or south, which left a vast part of the actual fun wilderness areas gone whilst the inconvenient areas in the higher populated zones stayed mostly the same. However, I do feel that there should be a good amount of remote area left so that people can actually hide tents in safer, unpopulated areas rather than having to be in dangerous proximity to towns all the time.

    M1 Carbine?

    You can say that again
