Well there will (most likely) be grenade launchers for guns like the M4A1 and AK-74 (they posted a screenshot of an AK-74M with a GP-30)

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Chaingunfighter replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Yeah, well the only reason I say no is because it just wouldn't be common enough in real life and would be too much work for the devs to do. Then again, I do hope that the helicopters (if they have them) can be armed in some way, but I feel that a minigun might be unnecessary, not to mention they are only really common on Western helicopters (Eastern nations tend to use machine guns more often because they are cheaper and use less ammo.) And I do love old guns, but I'm also a fan of quite a few new ones (The CBJ is a cool one, it just doesn't fit the scenario). I was actually quite saddened when I learned the Blaser B95 shoots the same ammo from both barrels. That being said, I actually do think the uzi should be added. As much as it is overused (Like other guns) it is more realistic than the others and there aren't many SMGs that are realistic. I wouldn't complain if they did add the CBJ, but I don't know how likely it is we would actually get to use the main feature which would make its' placement interesting. Also, it's starting to become the norm for games to use less common guns (Battefield and CoD, for instance, have started using guns which rarely appear in games in order to feel different). -
Civilian/Military Weapon Suggestions (Native Weapons Only)

Just edit it and change it to a default font. If you highlight the text you can see what it says. -
The mags are fine, and maybe a few new optics but otherwise I don't think re-kitting the entire body of the gun is something anyone could do on the fly.

- The M134 is unnecessary and the only real places you'd find them would be on helicopters (Which I don't think they should do) and on wrecks (in which case they wouldn't work without power). - The CBJ-MS, as interesting as it is, doesn't really feel authentic. The rest I think are fine additions, but the Nagant M1895, Tokarev TT-33, Makarov PM, AKM and PPSh-41 are the only ones I feel are a must have. -
Not to mention it's got a fucking Grizzly Bear on the cover. That guarantees it's powerful. And yes, I agree that the SKS could probably use a damage buff, but I still think that it is the (current) best weapon.

Why a Katana? This isn't 1800s Imperial Japan. The Halberd/Longsword don't really make sense either because I can guarantee those would have been cleaned out of the castles by now.

Remove Spawn Timer when joining same server.
Chaingunfighter replied to Sir Schmoopy's topic in General Discussion
I think it's talking about the same server you were previously on. Server hoppers have no benefit of rejoining the same server, although ghosting could still be a problem. However, this would take into account people who crash/desync/disconnect for testing/whatever other legitimate reason. -
DayZ Are Set to Release BF3 Dirt Bike...

The KSVK is not realistic just because it's Russian. Very few of them actually exist and I'd reckon almost all of them are in Russia. You'd seriously be more likely to find an M82/M107, and even those I don't want.

Server Hopping has become godlike post patch
Chaingunfighter replied to ASDF991's topic in General Discussion
Which is why, as much as I sometimes hate it, I'd rather have every server just be a private hive. Although I do fully support this new timer and public hives, the only real way to combat it is to prevent people from transferring loot. Maybe it's because I'm so used to playing on private servers in the mod where my character is only that character on that server, but who knows? That would just increase the spawn camping of the coast tenfold. People already camp newspawns for no reason other than entertainment or amusement, but if people had their gear when they spawned then now everyone who wanted free stuff would just camp there and kill everyone who spawned. That's not going to work. -
Switching out the stock/top-rail/handguard is not difficult in most cases on AR-15s because they are "standalone" parts and require little work to change. However, I'm not sure having entire body mods for guns is a good idea. That being said, I hope there are a good amount of attachments for the Ruger 10/22, because it is a very universal rifle system and so many variations exist. I'd also like a gun to finally be able to use the weapon flashlight and M4 optics on, I really hope ACOGs won't be limited to the M4A1 in the end game. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On topic: The Ruger 10/22 is not in-game yet, it's coming next week. The B95 is the only new gun in the update.

Yeah, I think this change was necessary, although I do hope they find ways to balance the recoil a bit with attachments. The Mosin isn't really a dedicated sniper platform, although it performs well for it, it was not built specifically for that. When sniper systems (such as the SVD or what-have-you) appear later on (Or if they appear, that is) then people will have better reasons for using the Mosin than just sniping.
-
Yeah, I actually found the guy who'd killed me (or at least looted part of my stuff) shortly after posting that as he had a note identical to one I'd had on me beforehand.
-
It is a game. On terms of recoil, you'd actually find that the current recoil on it is still a few steps lower than on the actual thing. Using the thing myself, it has a massive kick, even when resting on a surface (although when I first used one I was 15, but nonetheless). Granted, I don't think they should buff it up anymore, but I've had no problem using the Mosin with the updated recoil.
-
Probably, the SKS already does (Being fairly accurate and powerful, but having a semi-automatic advantage over the Mosin). I'll admit that I do like the Mosin for long-ranged combat but I'll always stick to my SKS for anything else. Though I don't think an M1 Garand is realistic, at all.

Now that's a gun I want to see!

Agree, Bipods/Flashlights need a hotkey or at least a mousewheel menu button.

That's a CZ-542 SMTR, right?

Lee enfield ( do you want to see it in game?)
Chaingunfighter replied to Sweendawg's topic in General Discussion
Why not? And on topic, although the Lee-Enfield is not the worst choice for bolt-action rifle, there are much more authentic and realistic choices. I'd rather see them do a hunting rifle (CZ, Steyr, etc.) before they do another bolt-action WW2 rifle (Best being a K-98K). But let's not worry about guns, let's worry about improvised weapons and unconventional ones like crossbows, compound & crafted bows, flare guns and other unorthodox weaponry. (I do support them working on more guns at the same time, though) -
The only justifiable Asian weapon is the Type 56, because it makes up about 1/3 of all AK-47 type guns seen today (Alongside the AKM). Still, there's no real need for them to have the Type 56 and more realistic AKM.

Increase the server-leaving time (after Helis eventually added)
Chaingunfighter posted a topic in General Discussion
This is sort of a long-run suggestion, but would it not be better to increase the log-out timer once we have vehicles in? 30 seconds is hardly enough for people who hide in large buildings or in places with only ladder access, but once they have vehicles (Especially helicopters) it seems like rooftop snipers will be able to camp very easily and just log before anyone has the time to do anything about it.
