I'm not speaking (mainly) from my point of view, but moreso of other players and general society. Allowing the same things done to adults in-game to be done to children is not something I can imagine would go well for BIS and countries like Australia and Germany would probably ban it. Left 4 Dead 2 was nearly banned there just because the zombie gore was "too high", and Valve had to remove gore from the clientside views of players in those countries. For a game like DayZ, I'm not sure how they would remove a clientside action which can be performed by anyone to be seen by anyone without limiting players of banned countries to specific servers. It wouldn't be worth the trouble of that, at least to me. I will admit, however, that it would be unnerving to watch the cruel things happening to someone essentially helpless, ala children. Also note that realistically they'd have to be weaker with punching/melee, carry less, have more weapon recoil and run slightly slower, so most people wouldn't honestly play as a child unless they were roleplaying, trolling, or actually wanted to see said sickening things.

How exactly would someone be able to avoid zombies, then? Do you want being hit by a zombie to be a death sentence?

The Advantage of Voice... should be turned against them
Chaingunfighter replied to Replifice's topic in Suggestions
Well what exactly are they going to do? They can't just put in place any solution just because they have nothing better. It's just like assuming that you are right about something just because you have no evidence otherwise. -
Yes, but there are many things that can immerse some people more that aren't necessary (children, nudity, excretion, etc.) We don't need everything in the game to be exactly like (or as close as possible to) real-life.

The Advantage of Voice... should be turned against them
Chaingunfighter replied to Replifice's topic in Suggestions
My point is that the devs have no good reason to waste their time trying to stop something that anyone who is honestly maliciously using will work around anyway. I'm not saying laws have no purpose, nor do we need a "perfect" solution to something that I don't even think is a problem, I'm saying there's no point in wasting the time doing something like that when it will be meaningless. Clans and players will continue using teamspeak regardless of any rule the devs have in place, it won't make any real difference to the people who "abuse" it. That's my point; why do it if it only stops those who did it legitimately. -
L4D is a fun game, but its' zombies have no place in DayZ.

You've got to be kidding me; Downloading non-CC YouTube videos, music, saving images off of Google, even just citing sources incorrectly can land you hefty fines and jail time. (yes, incorrectly. Without a perfect citation it is still plagiarism) - But I'm sure 99% of computer users have done something like this at least once.Watching pornography underage can get the user and user's guardians in serious trouble, but we all know this happens all the time.Jailbreaking IOS devices is against Apple's policy, and doing it to any non-cellular device is illegal (not to mention the actions allowed by jailbreaking). How many people follow those rules? There are so many "rules" that make things "bad" that most (or at least a lot of) people do not follow. Using external programs or even cellphones/tablets is going to be, at best, marginally slowed by the Devs coming out and saying; "NO YOU CANT DO THIS EEZ AGAINST RULES", especially to those who know they cannot enforce it and probably wouldn't if they could (just as people rarely do for the listed reasons above) -
With mods, yes, but we're talking core DayZ Standalone here. The most I've ever seen with mods is just to allow you to kill them, the more sadistic Fallout/Skyrim mods do not apply to in-game children. DayZ allows you to strip people down, tie them up and force feed them rotten food, poison, even bullets! That goes further than just killing them. Besides all of the problems that come with having children in the game, they also have to set up a new skeletal structure and sizing and would have to justify clothes specifically for them.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Chaingunfighter replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I don't think you'd ever find any MG-34s or M1 Garands in Chernarus. The likelihood of a Thompson, StG-44 or M1897 is pretty low too, but the latter three are more reasonable than the first two. (They could do an MG-3, which is essentially a slightly upgraded MG-42/34) -
Not with an M4, I wouldn't. (unless i'm one of the AI from Far Cry 3, then I'm fucked no matter what I have)
-
The stuff you can do in DayZ is many, many times more sadistic than what happens in TLOU.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Chaingunfighter replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
It's a fictional region. The land and country itself are heavily based on the Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia. That point on the Earth's map was a generalization of where Chernarus would have to be in reality. This is their in-game universe, they are perfectly capable of changing the natural terrain outside of those countries. They would have to, anyway, since the real land would be occupying modern-day Turkey. -
The 74M is essentially a polymer AKS-74 with a full stock (That can be folded)
-
They should have every gun in existence at some point, but that's an unrealistic expectation. If they ever do an original AK model it needs to be last (yes, after more western/exotic weapons), because it has hardly any difference over the AKM. I can imagine that art and modeling department guys would probably hate doing (essentially) the gun thing twice.

I can agree with having more zombies, but "headshots only" breaks the canon in that the zombies in DayZ are actually infected, not undead. Additionally, attracting hundreds of zombies with one gunshot may be overkill and, coupled with a headshot requirement they would be physically impossible to fight with their strafe-running and physics-breaking AI. Can guarantee there will be more guns in the future, and I find it highly unlikely they're going to take out the M4A1 completely (Yes, make it rarer, but no point in getting rid of it) And this still wouldn't stop someone who camped on top of a roof with only one ladder access, as they could easily kill every zombie who comes up and still snipe as they please.

Why not? Does every single weapon need to be Russian? (Russia is a European country, by the way) And I think it's reasonable to suggest that some Czech, German, Austrian, Swiss, U.S., Italian and Belgian made weapons would appear, and those aren't generally considered eastern at all (save for the Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia) VZ. 58, CZ-75 (confirmed weapon), Vz. 61 Skorpion; all make sense, and are Czech.KAR-98Ks/Gewehr 1898s are common, MP-40s, Walther P38s, Mauser C96s are still popular. The MP5 is everywhere. Hell, H&K guns like the HK-416 and P8 (USP) are reasonable. Glock & Steyr weapons are Austrian. Very possible that some Steyr hunting rifles made it to Chernarus, and Glock pistols are a given.Sig Sauer is Swiss, and Sigs are found everywhereU.S. Remington 870s are popular. Additionally; Ruger, Remington, Browning, Colt, Smith & Wesson, and Winchester guns of all kinds exist all over the planet.Beretta firearms are from ItalyFN Herstal is Belgian.I'm sure we can expect at least some of the aforementioned weapons.

I'm probably the only one here who at least wants to see the underbarrel grenade launchers (M-203, GP-25) that already exist. Not sure how keen I am on having Milkors, Javelins or Anti-Air launchers, but I fail to see how single-shot grenade launchers and RPG-7s would be a bad addition with proper firing mechanisms. Firing grenade/rocket launchers is easy, but doing so accurately is the difficult part. With proper ballistic mechanisms, I feel like grenade launchers would have to be used skillfully, just as long-ranged rifles like the SVD. However, just keeping them out is not interesting and is sort of a lazy approach.

Actually, if the apocalypse were to happen on the scale of DayZ and the human density was around 80-100 per 225m squared, there would be tons of surplus guns, food, medicine and plenty of cars/aircraft. Not to mention this is a mostly rural country very close to the Middle East, it would be much different somewhere in the United States; there would be shit everywhere. I mean, with that surviving ratio (obviously higher in the US due to number of people, but still a significantly small number of people) pretty much everyone left in the U.S. would have stockpiles of hundreds of guns, including military weaponry.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Chaingunfighter replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
It's kind of weird voting for SMGs, because they aren't the most common guns around so making an accurate estimate on which ones should and shouldn't be in is difficult. Granted, we know there'll (probably) eventually be some, but which ones make sense I have no idea. The only one I can say I feel strongly should be in is the MP5, because of how internationally popular it is (And the Vz.61 Skorpion and Uzi models, but those aren't on this list). On the other hand, the PP-91 is the only one I think should not be in, due to them being a mainly experimental design. -
Weathering on guns, wear and tear on clothing, more uses for spraycans, and more inventive ways to stay hidden
Chaingunfighter replied to Tricky_Vic's topic in Suggestions
Oh, you did have a point then. I doubt a very hastily made ghillie suit would hold together for long as you've said, and I guess if you really went overboard with painting you could probably inhale enough fumes to kill yourself, but that could be alleviated by wearing a mask or something. I do like the idea of customized clothing and objects a lot, just don't think something as trivial as painting should be super difficult to do. -
I'd be fine with a few of these so long as the majority of (if there are many) helicopters are Mi-8s or something.
-
I think the pumpkins should float around and attack anyone they see with their nonexistent eyes!
-
Not sure exactly how they would write a script for this. I'd rather they just keep it a server setting. I don't even use it all that often, though, so I wouldn't be upset if they got rid of it.

3 real-life hours = 1 in-game hour? And why exactly would a ghillie suit tear up after an hour? Painting your items does not need to be an impossible task (poisoning, 50% chance of base failure, binding solutions). I'd rather them just have craftable clothing and outdoor machined gear before we start painting our backpacks and coats. -
It would fit well considering they already have everything else Magpul for M4s/AR-15s (except BUIS, but I don't know if we need multiple sets of M4 BUIS)
