I don't think guns will be as rare as one per server. And how exactly would you get over 5 guns if it was one gun per server? But yes, a large variety of weapons with limited spawns to each would be great, it means that you won't be constantly seeing the same redundant weapons every time you get in a fight.

Chaingunfighter replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
Not necessarily. Generally you'll perform more effectively with a stock on your weapon because it helps you control recoil but stockless SMGs and shotguns do exist, and are employed more often than you'd think. Also, sawed-off shotguns and other platforms like the Ithaca 37 can be stockless and they are used all the time. -

I don't think you can add the PDW styled stock to the base MP5K very easily, though. But I guess if they have to do it, then whatever. -

Has anyone actually seen the model yet? Does it have a stock or not? I've really wanted to see it; the MP5K is one of my favorite SMGs. Hopefully we can still use it without the stock if they do make one, the MP5K-PDW is more effective but the standard MP5K is more badass. -

I wish I could tell you we'd get simulated accuracy but they've left it vague, possibly intentionally. What I can definitely agree with is that the Magpul parts should not artificially boost the weapon's accuracy. The main benefits I could see would be having higher mobility and more durability with said parts, but recoil/accuracy wouldn't be any different because you added a new handguard onto the gun. -

Probably, I think sometimes you get a little overdone about these little things. Generally I wouldn't worry about anything from experimental branches until its' implemented in the game. Hell, the release form is still in a buggy alpha, experimental updates are only going to be worse. But I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing a massive attachment overhaul like you want them to make, seems like the system is there to stay (Although I don't work for Bohemia so I can't say a word.) On a lighter note, they did make it a point to mention they'd be "tweaking" the accuracy of some weapons during the main update, so we may finally see some reasonable M4 accuracy. -

They don't show up on the gun, and there are also quite a few other bugs. It's probably because they reused code from the CR-75 and forgot to remove the attachments or something, I'd find it nearly impossible for them to even put a flashlight on there (There's no space on it, even for a fake mount!) -

Gold-plated MP5K, do it now devs. -
Rain, broken bones, zombies, 12 year olds, suicide, communication, melee weapons etc
Chaingunfighter replied to Hunter4's topic in Suggestions
Battling is an integral part of DayZ, and it should be. The problem right now is the lack of many things to do, the current end-game is just getting all of the gear you want, and then there's nothing to do except for explore the map and get into fights. Categorizing people in to servers is generally a bad idea, because having a mixed group of players is what makes the game interesting. It wouldn't be fun to run into friendlies 24/7, nor would it be fun to constantly meet bandits. Besides, once the tests were done, people could just act as they pleased and it wouldn't change anything. -
Off topic so spoilered. Just what happens with video games. It's why pretty much any AK save for the AKS-74U always gets branded as the "AK-47" in video games. I'm not too bothered about the Mosin's hex receiver version, it's a relatively minor detail, but I guess to someone who knows the Mosin inside and out, it would be fairly frustrating. Python, Amphibian & FNX-45 are bad, as you said, but the FNX-45 was clearly ported from ArmA 3 as you pointed out a while ago, and I believe the Colt Python was contributed to the team. I like Kimber 1911s, but an original style M1911A1 would be much better. I can't see any reason that they can justify the specific CZ-75 variant they chose, considering it's a prototype weapon at the moment. The MP5K is a good weapon if, as you pointed out, you can also have the MP5K-PDW. But my "badass" side wants one without the stock just because it looks cool :) (I haven't seen the model so I'm not sure what they did with it)

How many of you find a handgun before ever finding a rifle?
Chaingunfighter replied to jubeidok's topic in General Discussion
Rural Russian police forces continue to use the SKS & Mosin quite a lot, they make sense (The M4A1 can be taken out of police spawns, though). You'd be more likely to find AKMs and AK-74s than any SMG unless the station housed a tactical force (like the MVD) in which you'd still see quite a few AK-74s alongside some newer SMGs and shotguns. Meh, makes sense to some degree. Mosin-Nagants are fairly normal in Russia so it's not uncommon practice for police forces to make use of them when needed. Sporter-22s would probably be useful for animal control given the remoteness of a lot of Chernarus. -

Technically four, if you count the incredibly rare FNX-45 MRD. -

I'd rather just have a Galil AR than an ARM, so they could have both the RPK and RPD without much problem, but I can see your concerns. More assault rifles aren't really necessary beyond the AKs we have coming, at least for a while. -

Chaingunfighter replied to preacherlr's topic in General Discussion
It's incredibly different from the AK, it's just a similar pattern if anything. What I wouldn't want is for them to do something like an AK47 or Type 56 with the AKM, that's too similar. However, an AK-74 is clearly reasonable, and an AKS-74U is another necessary weapon. I'm not saying we'll see the Galil any time soon, but it's reasonably different enough for them to include it in the end. I'd like some battle rifles like the SVT-40, FN FAL & G3 first, obviously. We should also get some more growth on LMGs, SMGs, Revolvers, Bolt-Action Rifles, Lever-Action Rifles/Shotguns, Shotguns in general, explosives, and improvised/melee weapons. -

Galil is probably a better choice than the Tavor, it's spread around quite a bit more. The Uzi is a very common submachine-gun, used all over the world. The P90 isn't the worst choice for a PDW either, and 5.7x28mm ammo would be cool, if not rare. -
The only gun that truly made sense for a region like Chernarus they added was the Mosin. Even the SKS, a Yugo one, would rarely actually be seen (Most of them are Siminovs). The whole weapon's list is based off of weapons that there might be 1-2 of in the entire country, because in reality it'd probably just be a ton of AKMs and AK-74s, with a bunch of civilians with Mosins, shotguns & the occasional SKS. Even guns like the Ruger & 870 are pushing it because you'd only ever see a few out of the entire country's populace. But, for the sake of actually having a variety of weapons, they've gotta base it on more than just some poor, 3rd-world post-Soviet economy. Hence authenticity over realism. To someone who knows nothing about guns, the B95 seems like a pretty good choice, but in reality it isn't.

Increase traffic inland by removing the tents at Balota
Chaingunfighter replied to Grimey Rick's topic in Suggestions
Well, yeah. Usually when you're looting a base, even on low-pop servers, you want to get through as quickly (but also as thoroughly) as possible. However, when you're sniping, you just sit around for long periods of time so you catch the other people who pop in. It's amazing how close some people have actually gotten to running into eachother without doing so, but that's the whole problem with the new spawns; everyone who goes west rarely sees eachother, and the east is nearly impossible to find friends for long because of the bandits roving the coast shooting newspawns, snipers in the towns, and the general chaos. -

Black Ops' weapon list, really? Whem are you ever going to find a Ballistic Knife, EX-148 China Lake, ASP, WA-2000, Stoner 63, HK-21, HS-10, G11, FAMAS, Prototype L85, or Spectre? And those are just the obviously bad ones, things like the AUG, Colt Commando, PSG-1 and SPAS-12 are pushing it pretty far. -
But you don't like it when they add guns that could feel a wee bit out of touch. Like the B95, FNX-45, Amphibia, Colt Python, Tactical 1911, CZ-75 SP-01... you know what? I have no point. Their weapon choices suck in general. It's not really authentic to find any of those, at least to someone who knows a lot about guns. I guess someone who didn't have extreme weapon's knowledge (which seems to be the majority of DayZ players) probably wouldn't question most of the weapons, like the B95.

Considering vehicles are on the list of features listed on the game's Steam page, I doubt arguing against vehicles will do any good at this point. Sure, they'll probably be exceptionally difficult to get working and use, but they will be there. Just looking at the controls, you can see they've got ones for cars, helicopters & planes. They probably wouldn't have ported them over if they didn't intend to use them.

be able to care a rifle and a bow/crossbow
Chaingunfighter replied to thefriendlydutchman's topic in Suggestions
Not without a sling or some sort of implement. Even then, a crossbow is pretty damn large and using one alongside a full-sized rifle seems pretty odd (Although hunters will do it, occasionally). -
That's the huge problem, even a pristine, "fully-upgraded" M4A1 still shoots worse than a Brown Bess musket that was broken in half and filled with cement. I wouldn't be surprised if you tried to shoot someone point blank with the gun and the bullet travelled back through the barrel to avoid actually landing on target.

Increase traffic inland by removing the tents at Balota
Chaingunfighter replied to Grimey Rick's topic in Suggestions
Meh. Balota is actually pretty low-traffic right now, I've only ever seen two people there on full servers since they moved the spawns to the far east. Everyone seems to stick to Berezino and Elektrozavodsk now (I still don't see too many people in Cherno). I will admit that it's odd to find Staroye, which is like a 10 minute's walk from the coast (with stops at cabins and houses along the way) completely unlooted (including the police station), but I doubt that removing Balota's tents will do anything. If at all, you'll see even less people traveling that far and thus the entire of the west will be completely vacant. -
Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
Chaingunfighter replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
"anti-game" You're funny. Bohemia makes firearms? I wasn't aware of that. Besides that, we don't need them to add everything that's realistic, for the sake of realism. I'm an advocate for it, but that doesn't mean I want them adding shit/piss or full-on nudity/sex systems. Not that that has anything to do with crossbow bolt vs 5.56x45mm damage, but still. -
They need to add graffiti of Che to the inside of the broadcast tower. Now. Have everyone drop everything and work on it.
