    Fire -> Camp -> Shack -> Log Cabbin ?

Can't imagine that a crowbar would be too hard to find, but then again, neither would wooden boards and a hammer with nails (you'd only be boarding up buildings in areas you were temporarily defending or had already controlled and just wanted added defense for anyway). Also, you probably wouldn't need a specific breaching round to shoot open a lock per say, so long as the round was powerful enough; I'm sure a blast from the IZH-43 would knock any lock clear off. Thermic lances & explosive charges, on the other hand, would definitely be reasonably hard to come by. Still, I can imagine tossing a frag grenade/firing a 40mm shell from an M203 at a door would do the trick, so it'd definitely take some work to make it compatible with everything. It would be very weird to need a crowbar to pry off wooden planks but sit around for hours smashing the planks with a sledgehammer and not break them down.

    M4 spawns

It already isn't the highest end weapon. Even as it stands, 'high-tier' is a very vague term, because it can mean either; most effective (it really isn't in most cases), most advanced (definitely most customizable, but not exactly advanced), or whatever. Technologically, the FNX-45 is more advanced functionally and attachment wise (Pistol MRDs are very recent), and the AKM is arguably more effective as a select-fire rifle (Yes, it's on experimental, but so is the changed M4 spawn) as it is more accurate, more powerful, more common, and has a 75Rnd magazine vs a 60 round magazine. If they'd add the M203 and fix change the dispersion, then it'd probably be the game's high-end weapon (although the AKM could still use the GP-25, so...) Regardless, I'm sure some more high-end weapons will get in, but your terminology is very vague and needs clarification.

Don't worry, they'll probably call it the "Attorney" or "Executioner" and it'll be useless beyond 1-2 inches (still a quarter of a mile better than the M4A1, but well, you know...) I like the Taurus Judge, though. A revolver firing shotgun shells is definitely something cool and unique, and we know how much the devs like adding cool/unique weapons (Longhorn). You'd be better off with one. The whole reason the military uses the XM-2010 system is because of the super-customization it allows, and the fact that they only use it when they don't intend on getting into a 'shit hits the fan' situation. If they military's planning was really that bad, they have their M9/P228, and also the fact that they're elite, highly-trained special forces snipers, versus most of the people on this forum who have less experience (Plenty of people with good amount of training, and even former/active soldiers, but I doubt anyone on here was making 1KM shots in the Rangers.)

AKMs are still pretty standard in many former warsaw pact nations. Granted, many of them have been heavily supplanted by newer AK designs or other guns altogether, but you'd be hard pressed to find countries without stocks of AKMs available (Whether in service or not). Hell, even Russia still has the AKM in limited service, and I'm sure they'll keep racks of them in storage for years to come. But in Arma 2 canon the AK-74 was the Chernarussian rifle of service and only a few soldiers, mainly militia, had the AKM/AKMS. However, the Guerillas and Insurgents made extensive use of the AKMs and AK-74s, so canonically speaking both are incredibly fitting to the scenario. Both are honestly necessary to have a good set of rifles in the game, 5.45x39mm and 7.62x39mm open up a huge variety of weapons available.

Just as I suspected (read the last line) Nothing to worry about :) And he's right, for the moment we probably have enough pistols, and there are plenty of 9x19mm and .45 SMGs we can have before the PPSh-41/PPS-43/K-50M. (Don't kill me because I want a Vector, too)

    The Mosin Problem

Best plan: Mosin uses PU Scope, Blaze and Winchester 1895 use the LRS & Hunting Scope

    Weapon accuracies

The M4A1 is still atrocious to shoot, though. It's only possible to use it well in close quarters, and even then the new experimental took away most of the M4A1 spawns (save for helicopter crashes). So essentially it's going to be a rare and customizable automatic musket.

    The Longhorn Pistol

You can keep the gun, I don't play seriously enough at the moment so I'd probably lose it. On the screenshots, none are really necessary, although if you could (at some point) get ones of the AKM with the folding stock, that'd be terrific. (Still not necessary though, as I have an AKM and will probably find one eventually)

    The Longhorn Pistol

Mind if I use your screenshots for the DayZ IMFDB page? I've had no luck yet finding one of these in EXP, so it'd be nice if I could.

You strike a good point. Most of the stuff we've seen regarding calibers has been done correctly, and we do have some 'uniqueishness' regarding ammunition (Like the Magnum and .357 Caliber, which is only really used in handguns, other revolvers, and a few lever-action rifles)

    No "Specialized" Cartridges [Torchia Tweet]

I think we're all forgetting that Chris constantly loves bringing up the "current loot system". (In response to the VSS Vintorez suggestion) Why he would bring up the "current loot system" in regard to the VSS Vintorez, a 9x39mm ammunition weapon, which is used in significantly less weapons than 5.45x39mm and 9x18mm, is very interesting. My best guess is that he's saying; "If we added an AK-74M now, it would be 5.56mm", "if we added a Makarov now, it would be 9x19mm". And he's definitely right, adding in too many weapon calibers while the central loot control isn't implemented would result in problems. However, once it is implemented, they could easily have only so many 9x39mm rounds able to exist at one time, which in addition to the rare gun using said ammo itself, would be more stable. I think that, sometimes, as DayZ forum members and gun nuts, we overreact way too much (too severely, as well) and also get a little to over-zealous when we hear anything we don't like; temporary or not.

    No "Specialized" Cartridges [Torchia Tweet]

Right now we have .22LR, .357, .45 ACP, 12 Gauge, 5.56x45mm, and 7.62x51mm, hardly any variety there. I have a feeling they originally intended to have many calibers and then afterwards decided not to, as I doubt we'd have the Magnum at all (There aren't too many other .357 guns they could do) And yes, I do agree that to do something for realism and none other is generally bad reasoning, but I still believe that fictional worlds should not require you to suspend your disbelief too much. Am I willing to believe that a fictional country utilized weapons that would be too expensive/unconventional in the real world? Yes. Do I want to see depictions of those weapons butchered heavily to accommodate loot spawns? No.

    No "Specialized" Cartridges [Torchia Tweet]

They seriously can't come up with enough weapons to justify 5.45x39mm or 9x18mm being added? That also means we're probably going to be out of 7.62x25mm, 7.92x57mm, 5.7x28mm, 4.6x30mm, .40, .32 ACP, 10/20 Gauge, or honestly any other caliber not in-game. No Gewehr 98, no AK-74M, no Makarov, no Tokarev, no PPSh-41. God damnit. I sincerely hope this is another one of those "until loot is centralized" points and not "yep, 5.56x45mm AK-74M everyone!" posts.

    Easter Eggs? Aliens? Mysteries? [Official]

My guess is that the crashes are simply being implemented so they can have the system ready for later on, rather than because they actually want to go further with them at the current time. And I certainly hope we don't start seeing guns like the SVT-40 or SVD being extremely rare for the simple reason that they are (or can be used as) DMRs. Chris Torchia stated on his Twitter that no "7.62mm DMR types" would be added until centralization is added, but that's a very vague statement considering that a DMR is usually just a regular sniper rifle/battle rifle/assault rifle re-equipped for longer-ranged shooting. Hell, technically the SKS with the PU scope is a DMR, but we've got plenty of those. Now, if you want to argue the rarity aspect, obviously the SVT would be considerably rare compared to the Mosin/SKS/AKs, as it had a limited service life and fewer were produced than the latter weapons, but the fact that it shoots a slightly larger 7.62x54mmR bullet than the 7.62x39mm really irks me as poor reasoning for making it much rarer.

    Torchia's "Guess That Gun!" Challenge

I'd assume it's meant to be different than the MP-133 since Chris called it, specifically, a "new" model, while they showed this 870 over a year ago. Also, they actually have sparsely talked about it, I remember a few of Chris' posts about it not being in yet because they were trying to get individual shell loading working.

    Torchia's "Guess That Gun!" Challenge

Bottom shotgun is a Remington 870, they showed this a while ago. They've also talked about it quite a bit.

Where? Edit: found it on the dev-tracker. Wow, the first weapon that goes against the whole "No similar looking weapons" (alongside the Remington 870)

    Torchia's "Guess That Gun!" Challenge

What kind of shotgun tube-end is 40mm? Chris himself said that the object's dimensions are applicable in real life.

    Torchia's "Guess That Gun!" Challenge

Looking at the dimensions of the object (40mm by 36mm* by 22mm) <-- can't make out the 36mm too clearly, it appears to be a portion of the tube from some grenade launcher. Haven't had time to look, but that'd be my first place to start looking.

    Torchia's "Guess That Gun!" Challenge

Not sure exactly where this would go on an SVD, it's clearly nothing like a portion of the flashhider and there's nowhere else I can imagine it going. Besides, Chris recently stated that "7.62mm DMR-type" rifles would not be added until a change in the loot system, and that discussion was on the SVT-40, which technically isn't a DMR (the SVD is)
  21. Seeing the seemingly large number of people who are "leaving" isn't close to the total number of players. People on the DayZ forums are particularly vocal about what they want/don't want, but people act as if they represent the other thousands who are playing. The number of people actively playing and enjoying DayZ far outweighs those who have "lost their faith".

    M4 Silencer

Actually, if one had something like an M4A1, it would be right to assume they had enough firepower to make it somewhere with a lot of zombies and hold their own. Said person of course completely underestimated, ran into a school, and got cornered and then eaten. Obviously I don't think the M4A1 should spawn in schools or anywhere but bases. However, I don't think it's wrong to assume the Chernarussian military could've used M4A1s themselves, in addition to their AK-74s and everything else. The zombies definitely need to be made a threat, but I don't think they should ever be the main threat. If someone had escaped from a human trafficking sect in the middle of the African Savannah, their main concern would probably be the crime lords hunting them down, not necessarily the various predators such as lions. That being said, I don't what zombies to just be an afterthought. I'd actually like it so that getting into a big gunfight in Elektro would be very problematic for the survivors who would be getting poured down upon by zombies (assuming it hadn't been cleared out.) And yeah, that's probably what it will end up being for the big groups who eventually reach the end-game, but the whole point of DayZ is the build-up to the endgame. I'm fine with it being difficult and time-consuming to get to that point, but it would be the same end-game with you. People would just kill eachother with .22s and melee weapons instead of using m4a1s and whatever other guns they add, with the occasional vehicle/technical and possible helicopter/plane to support them.

    M4 Silencer

The only difference the M4A1 has from a civilian AR-15 is that it has select-fire, which is hardly ever utilized, most troops are trained to use their M4s semi-automatic unless they're in a very close range or fire in bursts. Guns like the Mosin-Nagant & SKS are military weapons across many nations, but can be purchased and owned by civilians. Should we get rid of them. What about the Amphibia S, FNX-45 and CR75? They're based on an internally suppressed Ruger MK2, brand-new 2012 .45 handgun, and a prototype CZ-75 SHADOW variant, all meant for military/police use. And should they drop all work on the MP5K, AKM, and SVD in order to work on civilian guns? The problem with your concept of not having anything advanced in the game, at all, is that it really gives nothing for people to strive for. Sure, the end-game could very well be; "get a sustainable amount of food, ammunition, and other necessary supplies so that I'm not in 100% danger 100% of the time", but that would drive away a lot of people, because essentially it would make the end-game simply going around with an ample amount of gear. The only difference between then and now is that it would take a lot longer to do so and people would just be a little more careful while PvPing. Things like helicopters add something for you to strive for. Granted, they should be very difficult to go for and should be hard to maintain and should constantly be at risk of being destroyed, but the advantage of having one would be something to strive for.

No Attachments for Attachments [Torchia Tweet]

Obviously in an actual scenario you'd probably be better off with standard height sight or simply a carry handle/BUIS. But I find having looks can be useful, the sight arrangement makes the gun look much bigger and more intimidating, which could definitely be helpful. Nonetheless, it's not a necessary addition to the game by any means, just something I personally like and would love to see (like the TDI Vector & M14) And the character in Tears of the Sun, Flea, was the team's designated marksman, so it was probably more practical on-set to put a magnified sight that raised above the front sight rather than modify the M4A1's front sight itself or install a long-ranged scope.
