My comment was probably way too blunt and judgmental, so I apologize for that, don't really know where it came from. Clearly you do have a good idea, and I guess I just found it hard to accept that you can't possibly speak for the entire community in one thread where no one can seem to agree on anything. But yeah, I guess once mods are added, there'll be no more complaining... Actually, even then, people will complain that we're allowed to mod the game, saying that "it destroys the vanilla game". We can never be happy :P
  2. The 5.7x28mm round is also used in the Five-SeveN pistol, AR-57, and even some Thompson Contender (LongHorn) variants. It's also a fairly unique round. However, there's no real reason to add it, just as there's no real reason to add 7.62x25mm, because there aren't a whole lot of guns you can do with them and frankly they're not too special (P90 is cool and all but it's a PDW, of which plenty exist)

I'm sorry for offending you, but what I meant was that you base the weapons allowed on their mainly on realism, not necessarily whether enough people support it or not. However, yes, you have said no to weapons, like the De Lisle Carbine, which while not at all realistic, seemed to have some support. Realism is not the only basis for something that should or shouldn't be in the game, and I don't feel that rejecting a gun simply because it's not realistic or "shouldn't be in Chernarus" is a fair thing to do. The mods should judge my post, and if they find it offensive, I should get some "time off." I honestly do believe that if I was offensive, then I do not deserve to post here (for a time), but I'd like someone beyond my biased self to judge that.

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

Yes, of course. We're crafting military gear. Would you like it if they removed every single gun from the game, and there were only 10 cans of food able to exist at once across the entire board? Because I fail to see how using the environment in order to craft suits that camouflage you is creating some "tacticool militery hardc0re shuters that BREAKZ WAT DAYZ IS MENT TO B3 BECAUZ I NO WAT IT IS VBECAUZ I CRETED DAYZ". We're "supposed" to survive in order to reach a level at which we thrive. It's supposed to be difficult, yes, but the level is still there. You'll feel truly accomplished once you reach a level of satisfaction.

M1 Thompson isn't as out of place as you'd think. It was used by Poland, Croatia, Yugoslavia, & Turkey, as well as most Western European countries. Plus, it's not that people want a full set of American WW2 weapons just for it, it's simply because Rocket himself said that he wanted one at PAX. No one's really suggested an M1 Garand. M1 Carbine is unlikely because it uses .30 Carbine which few other rifles use. M1903 also isn't necessary because it's a regular 5 round bolt-action rifle. The Garand itself is a unique rifle in that respect. And, of course, just because people ASK for Thompsons, M1903s, and M1 Carbines, doesn't mean the devs will add them. People have suggested plenty of weapons that will probably never make it into the game, no matter how often they're suggested. The TOZ-122 is also used in .223/5.56x45mm and 7.62x51mm, so it wouldn't at all need a brand new caliber. That, and there's nothing special about it gameplay wise that warrants a whole new caliber. The whole reason I'd like the M1 Garand is that it's actually unique and not some generic hunting rifle like the TOZ-122 (Not saying I wouldn't support a TOZ-122, but it's not a super special rifle.) Yes, the TOZ would be an awesome weapon to include as one of many .30-06 rifles, but you need to have outlying weapons with good characteristics in order to justify it. Otherwise, there are plenty of other .223, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x51mm, and 7.62x54mmR rifles they could add. Also, being on the Community's Weapon Suggestion Thread isn't really saying much because you refuse to put any weapon that YOU personally do not want in the game at all. It's a good place for discussion but it's not really representing the community well when you only pick guns that you feel should be in, which seems to be completely based around realism.

Of course. The SVT-40 would be awesome. HOWEVER, what, exactly, is the problem with having BOTH? I've never understood the mentality of "there can be only one!" when new content is added to the game. Both of them are similar, but have quite a few differing characteristics that would keep them from being redundant.

A big island instead of generic land in north and west

Would require an extremely lengthy map re-design and a lot of the locations would need to be heavily revamped or removed completely. Not to mention that turning Chernarus into an island completely breaks all previous lore. It may as well just be an entirely different universe at that point, the only similarity being that they use the same engine. Oh, and they'd have to reposition a lot of the map's objects if they were to extend it or move it towards the map's center, which is one of the biggest reasons the devs don't even want to increase the CURRENT map's size. I say if they ever do something like this, just make it an entirely new map. It'd be much more unique in that way and honestly would not need AS MUCH work.

    Just some Ideas about Hypothermia

My point is that you'd already be screwed by that point, alcohol would only slightly numb the pain at best. The two good ideas are to either have it temporarily increase your heat level at the cost of losing heat faster, or not help at all. Alcohol should be used as a mild painkiller, decreasing your shaking as you drink more (though if you become highly intoxicated you start to shake even more), but that's really the furthest extent of it. Otherwise, it's just another source for molotov cocktails to me.
  9. I see nothing wrong with a basic RPG-7 or M72 LAW, and rocket launchers like that are actually great support weapons when used correctly. They're already going to be rare (in addition to rare ammo), heavy, and are only useful in some circumstances. Not to mention that many RPG-7s (mainly due to the rocket propelled grenades themselves) misfired or were inaccurate, and the M72 LAW is a single use weapon. Heavy machine guns are meh. If they included a Browning or DShK I wouldn't complain because finding 12.7mm ammo would be incredibly difficult, plus they're only good on vehicles. HMMWVs are just regular military vehicles with armor, and it's quite clear that the CDF had some. Tanks, APCs, and heavily armed aircraft probably won't make it in, so I don't think you need to worry about those.

I wasn't aware that it wasn't spawning AT ALL. It's probably a bug, then. However, the stock's function in spawning separately is that it does (or should) reduce your recoil and improve stability, so I can stand by the fact if removing it from spawning on the GUN was intentional. He's wrong anyway, the Kurz has nothing to do with the stock, but the gun itself. The stock comes from a very similar gun called the "MP5K-PDW". It makes sense that it might not spawn on the gun directly, but it should be spawning somewhere in the game.

The new ammunition type is the killer, but I was under the impression that .30-06 were it added would be used as a dedicated civilian cartridge so that .308 & 7.62x54mmR could be rarer. The M1 Garand is a semi-auto battle rifle, it's fairly effective, but it's limited to 8 rounds, and like you said, needs clips. On it's own the SVT-40 outclasses it in realism and effectiveness, but the only reason I saw the M1 Garand was because it could end up as the flagship rifle for a new civilian-based ammunition type. If they don't plan to add .30-06 then I see no need for the Garand, but if they do add .30-06 the Garand is definitely distinctive enough GAMEPLAY-wise to be worthy. The two-round difference, clip-loaded feature, and lack of overall modularity would differ the SVT & M1 more than it'd seem like. (Based on current attachments, of course. The PU Scope would likely work for the SVT and none of the scopes ingame work on the M1 without modification) Though if I had to pick of course I'd choose the SVT. It's one of my favorite all time weapons. If they're not going to do .30-06, then the M14 is a much better replacement (still not super realistic but moreso and different to a larger degree).

I mean, the Blaze itself isn't really authentic anyway, but your point is that in an environment where Blaser B95 rifles appear in significant quantities, optics are no stranger to them. I can absolutely agree with that. Balance is something I only concern myself with for the most game-changing issues. But on anything that's two steps lower than revolutionizing the game, I try to steer clear. I WANT an asymmetric experience, and I like the idea that it's possible for some people to have a distinctive advantage over another. The only time I'd ever bring it up is for issues like having the AKM spawning as the most common rifle, and possibly gun, in the game. In the real world, it probably would exist in the largest quantities over any other guns in Chernarus (it'd be far more common than the AKM is relative to guns ingame now.) However, you can see how this would be a pretty significant issue, even though it would be breaking the realism. I guess I'm just into "authentic balance", because even though it's not necessarily the most realistic, it doesn't "feel" wrong that military weapons are rarer as a whole. That's all besides the point. I have said that I have no problem with the Blaze getting a scope, for whatever reason. The only reason I'm not in full support is because in order to make it realistic it'd need either its own scope or a separate mount, whereas the CR-527 and Sporter-22 would need far less work. I simply don't believe it's worth the time on the developers' behalf to make one when it'd likely hardly ever see any use. Granted, I am intrigued by Gibonez' idea of having the scope and the mount/rings being separate, so in order to use the scope to begin with you'd have to find the mounts. I'm not sure how in depth they'd want to take this, though, because they'd have to revamp many of the optics in game already, and you'd also start seeing people asking to take apart Aimpoints and put them on the Ruger.

It doesn't fit in the real world, I downright admitted that in the post itself. However, Chernarus is a fictional environment, so it's not breaking the rules for it to feature guns that would otherwise not normally appear in a similar region. The only REAL explanation for why any of them would appear in Chernarus is if you had some very avid gun collectors (same reasons why the Python & Blaze are there). These people certainly do exist, but there would be so few of them that it would be completely insignificant, especially when played as THE explanation for their appearance. So yes, the gun doesn't fit the setting, fine. But I personally see the overall benefits to gameplay as a higher-priority reason than simply "it doesn't fit." (something you and I inherently disagree on) It doesn't make a difference at this point anyway, the idea of adding the Garand was completely speculative and it's (probably) not even being worked on, yet. There's always a time for debate, but maybe we should hold off until it actually becomes relevant :P
  15. Not sure that the Python on it's own warrants being made rarer, but I can agree with the Amphibia and FNX being significantly rarer. Honestly the 1911 would take the cake for the prolific semi-automatic .45 handgun, but it does have half the capacity and is far less modular, I guess the Glock 21 could take over the regular role. However, I'd still be in support of a USP Tactical or Mark 23 so we can at least have a rarer handgun that uses suppressors without needing the rarest guns.
  16. Walther PP pistols typically used .380 ACP so they probably wouldn't use P1 Mags (not sure if they're compatible anyway.) Granted, 9x19mm variants did exist, so I guess the devs could do that if they really wanted, but I'd like to see .380 ACP get expanded upon since there aren't too many guns that use it. The P22 I'd love simply because it's basically a P99 in .22LR. Would be a good way to add some more modern semi-automatic pistols without them being completely redundant (with the FNX-45, CR-75, and 1911). P38K is an absolute favorite of mine, though I would be willing to set aside realism if you had to saw off the barrel in order to create a "P1K". No real benefit in doing so, but it'd still be cool.

M1 Garands were everywhere during WW2, and considering the Armaverse version of Earth is considerably different than real Earth, the history could have very well been different. The Garand was used by Turkey, around where Takistan is, so it's not hard to believe some Garands could've funneled their way into Chernarus, just as Lee-Enfields did. That, and it was used by Greece, Norway, and Denmark, so it wasn't completely absent in post-war Europe. It's most likely been considered because .30-06 is potential for the future and it'd be both a recognizable and distinctive rifle as a hallmark of the caliber. I mean, it's an 8-round, clip-loaded battle rifle, with that memorable "Ping!" sound, so gameplay-wise it'd be quite unique for a low-to-medium end civilian battle rifle. I don't see why an SVT-40 can't be done in addition to the Garand. It's quite different in appearance, and unlike the Garand, used 10-round magazines instead of clips (making it a generally lower-end rifle.) Plus, the Garand and .30-06 were only speculative, Rocket just stated that he wanted it. 7.62x54mmR is confirmed, so that means an SVT-40 can be done either way. To say they've been pulling these ideas out of their asses... not really. Ivan and Chris had the major list of weapons for V1.0 written up years ago, and they're just following it. Rocket & the other artists obviously do their own work and put their own feelings into the design, but generally everything that we have has been planned. But even if they just did one gun at a time and decided what to do next... what guns are we actually sure of: Guns ingame: Makarov IJ-70 - Not out of placeCZ-75 - Not out of place1911 - Specific variant is not the most common but not out of placeP1 - Not out of placeSporter-22 - Not out of placeAK-101/AK-74M - Not out of placeM4A1 - Hardly out of placeCZ-527 - Not out of placeSKS - Not out of placeMosin-Nagant M91/30 - Not out of placeMosin "Obrez" - Not out of placeAKM - Not out of placeIZH-43 - Not out of placePM-73 RAK - Not out of placeMP5K - Not really out of placeBlaze 95 - Not really in place, but it's a civilian double rifleFNX-45 - Not in place, but currently it's one of the rarest pistolsAmphibia S - Not in place, but again, rareMagnum - Not really in place, but it's a collectors weapon, so who knows?LongHorn - Again, not in place, but also a civilian weapon so it's hard to judge AKS-74U - Not out of placeSVD - Not out of placeMP-133 - Not out of placeRossi R92 - Not exactly a common weapon, but they wanted a lever-action rifle and this one definitely wasn't a poor choice.Steyr AUG - AUGs are used quite heavily throughout ALL of Europe. Carbine Mosin would be next to completely pointless to add with the advent of the Obrez. There's also nothing really stopping you from putting a PU scope on an M38 or M44. Then, of course, there's no real reason to make two separate M91/30 variants just to accommodate the PU scope, so you may as well just have one that can accept the PU scope (Even straight-bolt Mosins can use the PU Scope, they're just not designed for it) Does it feel unrealistic or nonsensical? Absolutely not. And again, I've stated that I would be perfectly okay with a scope for the Blaze 95, I just don't see any inherent need for it, nor do I feel that it would be worth the time to create a realistic setup and separate mount for it. At that point, you'd be better of just picking another 7.62 rifle that doesn't need its own mounts. That's pretty much the argument that the devs are using - what's the point in spending time creating it when you have better & easier to access alternatives available? The Sporter-22 and CR-527 I absolutely want a scope for (again, not a complete necessity, but it would be beneficial and not require any extreme custom mounts.)
  19. And what good would that do for development to scrap all the work put into those guns? (not to mention taking them out of the inventories of players who have them) What would be the ideal 15-round modular .45 ACP handgun replacement for the FNX-45? There are, of course, USP, Glock, Mark 23, and 1911 models that fill a similar niche, but none would really be a complete replacement that's also a lot more realistic. The Mark 23 specifically is something I want a lot, but it's still only got a 13 round capacity. And what about the AWC Amphibia S? Regular Ruger .22 pistols are similar but I can't think of any internally suppressed .22 pistols that are MORE realistic. The Colt Python could obviously be replaced by a plethora of .357 pistols, but like the Blaze 95, it doesn't at all "feel" out of place. That, and would you be willing to consider the "replacements" as supplements of the guns, rather than removing them completely. The FNX-45 & Amphibia both have traits that could completely justify high rarity, so a lower-end variant might simply augment the role rather than ostensibly taking it over.
  20. I guess, but does that mean we should get rid of guns like the FNX-45, Colt Python, and Amphibia? Because they certainly aren't region specific and are relatively limited production (FNX simply because it's a new gun)
  21. Too arbitrary, though. Plenty of guns from Eurasia that shouldn't be there and plenty of guns from the US that should be, without spawning in chopper crashsites (unless you want Sporter-22s spawning in heli crashsites) Also setting a "real world manufacture limit" would diminish the chances of even most guns in the game from appearing.

You yourself have campaigned for the Mosin to be an ironsight-only rifle but suddenly you're in support of the double rifle being given a scope? I'm not saying it SHOULDN'T have a scope, I'm just saying that there's no real good reason for it to have one. I'd rather they put a scope on the Sporter-22 and CR-527 first.

And that's just for the Blaze. They're saying it's not really worth the effort because in the end it's unrealistic and only promotes long-ranged gameplay with a rifle that's absolutely fine without any attachments. Nowhere has that indicated that they won't be making weapons specifically built for sniping.

I'm not really seeing the equation between having suppressors for sniper rifles and having thermal optics and anti-materiel rifles that can shoot over a kilometer away. Sniping should definitely be realistically difficult to perform, but putting suppressors or various scopes on weapons that were meant to use just that isn't a problem. No, I don't want the SVD or Mosin to get a suppressor, but say they add an M24/M40 or some other platform that often uses them, a suppressor would be fine. Sniping =/= KoS Also, they're not really consistent with that. They're perfectly fine with guns like the SKS & Mosin having scopes, and the SVD is on its way. The only thing I really gathered from that post was that they didn't want to make guns that aren't really used as long-ranged rifles into long-ranged rifles, specifically the Blaze 95 & Sporter-22. My best bet was that they either didn't want to develop new models for pre-existing guns or wanted to have the snipers limited. Not that I agree with the statement, the Sporter, CR-527, and Blaze would all be great scope platforms, but I've never gotten the idea that they want all combat to be close ranged.
