CZ-83 would be cool, and IMO the Skorpion is a must have SMG. It's the epitome of a non-Russian Warsaw Pact SMG, and honestly I'd rather have one of those than the PM-73. (Not that I'm complaining; the RAK is still a good choice, and both is best, but of the two the Skorpion is better.) An M1910 or M1934 would be very cool to have for a concealable weapon that isn't the derringer. The Walther PPK is another personal favorite of mine, not only because of James Bond but also because it's just a classic design. It wouldn't be unrealistic, either, as a good number of them were used by German forces during WW2. The numbers were less than your average P38 or Luger but they were still prevalent. Plus, the PPK actually makes sense to use a suppressor, unlike the Makarov and 1911 which should not be able to have them at all.

.32 ACP is rather pointless with .380 ACP, though, for the same reasons that 9x18 is or isn't. (9x18 would've been the best of the three, but that issue is already far over so there's no point arguing.) That's not to mention that nearly every single gun you mentioned exists in .380; the Beretta M1934, Browning M1910, CZ-83, Mauser HSc, Vz.61 (Has an identical Vz.63, as well as similar Vz. 83), Walther PPK, and Zastava M70. Nagant could just be added as the .22LR version, as we already know the 7.62x38 is not going to happen.

Most of the stuff you see in ArmA 2 is fairly standard equipment for both sides and I don't see any reason why we won't get it again in DayZ. However, some loadouts, like the Russians that use AK-107s, are a little more odd. The 107 would certainly be cool to have in the future, but it's not really necessary considering we already have four AK variants as it stands. And personally if they were going to do more AK related rifles I'd rather have something different, like an AK-105 or AN-94, over an experimental rifle. Bizon is a personal must have.
-
.45 ACP and 9x19mm for the Thompson and MP40 are already in game, so that wouldn't be an obstacle. (Though the Thompson isn't very realistic, and MP40 is passing.) The devs have hinted that 7.62x25 may be a possibility in the future so if they were to add a PPSh we'd obviously get everything else that caliber had to offer, but you're right in that its limited. 7.92x57mm Mauser is the only real obstacle there, because having three full-powered rifle rounds after .308/7.62x51 and 7.62x54R are split would be redundant, and 7.92 only has a few niche guns. And certain guns like the MG-42 have 7.62x51 variants (MG-3) or conversions (Israeli KAR-98s) so truthfully it's not necessary.
-
It would, but the plus is that you get more variation as well as utility in the end, rather than just having two nearly identical rifles where the only major difference in performance is that one is capable of using an okay WW2-era scope, while the other is restricted to ironsights. A carbine variant would at least be a different rifle that is distinguishable and adds more in the end.
-
Some rifles don't take scopes because they want to make it more involved with crafting. That's why we heard a lot about attachments for existing guns and new ones that haven't been added yet, because they're likely going to become more advanced as the time goes on. Some rifles I'm sure aren't ever going to have scopes, though. If they do anything else with the Mosin I'd love to see a dedicated carbine-length variant, like the M38, M44, or even M1907 Cavalry carbine. The 1891/30 is the obvious standard purpose rifle, and the Obrez is the improvised variant, but a carbine would basically be a mix of the two with accuracy better than the Obrez but portability better than the full rifle. The carbine variant wouldn't have the PU scope either, so I feel like they could add those as scopeless variants that also ultimately add to what we have in the end.
-
The mount may be different but several rifles are able to attach scopes just by virtue of being able to have them in real life despite not always using the same mounts, so I'm not sure this applies. Camo/ghillie wrap shouldn't be spawning on any guns, just like the improvised suppressor I believe that you should need to craft them to use them. I'd be okay with it if a small percentage of rifles spawned with a random paint job applied but the furthest I'd go for any dedicated sniper Mosin would be just the PU. And ideally the bayonet, but just like the SKS' I understand why they have them as separate attachments rather than on gun spawns.
-
I don't know. The PU scope is not the greatest, the M44 compensator does basically nothing, the bayonet is a universal attachment that would be available on both rifles (and should spawn as default on both, but doesn't for balance reasons), and the ghillie wrap and improvised suppressors are universal attachments. The PU scope and aesthetic bolt change would be the only real difference between two nearly identical rifles, and modeling as well as animation changes plus all of the standard work that goes into making new variants just isn't worth it for the amount of change you're getting. If the devs decide to go along with it, then that's fine, but I don't see any reason to split into two rifles. The gun can still be made into a low tier rifle by simply offering low availability of attachments, because there's no reason why there needs to be lots of of PU scopes or M44 compensators spawning around. The only way I'd be able to get behind this is if they had the sniper variant spawn with the PU scope pre-attached, but then that's still somewhat detrimental as you'd have to do the same for the SVT-40 in the future and PU-equipped SVTs had no major differences to the base rifle unlike the bolts on the Mosin. I mean, I'm not completely opposed to this happening but it seems like it'd be a waste of time in the end.
-
Both versions can use the PU Scope, the straight-bolt ones are just more complicated to use properly with the scope attached. There's no real reason for them to add a different variant with a straight-bolt to the game, as it's unnecessary development time for such a minor detail that wouldn't even prevent people from using the PU anyway. It would have been better for them to do so in the beginning but they decided to make one with a bent-bolt because of the LRS and they've already said that regardless of whether or not they remove the LRS the Mosin will stay as is.

1 is a good feature for inclines of a certain height, but I believe they're planning on toning it down for moderate inclines. This is a problem that's been in BIS games forever and really just needs some tweaking that isn't a high priority task at the moment. 2 is planned. In the future not only will specific loot spawns be better but also specific buildings of the same type will be able to have modifiers so that some spawn alternative or more loot. That way you can per say loot a military base that's close to the coast and it would hardly spawn anything valuable but the same buildings at the NWAF further north would have different loot values. It's just a WIP system and needs a lot of modification to be done right, but we'll see it soon enough. 3 would be great for more than just compasses, but also for other navigation or single handed items. I think that this has been commented as more problematic than before but they want to make more fluid transitions between animations so you're not held up forever just trying to briefly check your compass. ArmA 2 and the DayZ mod had certain tools bound to keys so you got a 2D representation of the compass if you pressed said button, but I'd rather they not do this simply because it's more of a gamey feature and removes consequence to using it.

You got diseases but you weren't actually becoming infected by the virus that turns you, just one of the countless bacteria/viruses that would inhabit the super unsanitary bodies of those infected. I mean, they're wearing the clothes that they died with and are covered in various bodily fluids, so getting sick from being attacked is just inevitable. But the devs have confirmed that you're not getting the zombie virus and that it will probably never be an official feature.

G3 was confirmed I believe, or at least was on the list of things they wanted to add. Of course Chris said this well over a year ago but he said the same thing about the FN FAL in the same post, and the FN FAL is now confirmed, so I think it's safe to say the G3 will come at some point. Also, the VP-70 isn't actually used by German forces, so it wouldn't make sense to come from a German-specific helicopter crash. An HK USP/P8 variant or Glock 17 would be more realistic. Hell, even the game's P1 would be sensible considering it's still used by all branches of the German military. However, I'm pretty sure any NATO force (including Germany) is represented through the USMC UH-1Y 'NATO' crashsites, hence why we have the AUG spawning there as well, so we don't necessarily need to do a specific crash site just to have German weapons.
-
G36s are used by a large number of Western and Eastern European armies, especially special operations, so it's plausible so long as it's a helicopter crashsite spawn. Plus they're cool, so I say why not.

Does DayZ need aeiral transport?
Chaingunfighter replied to Sike (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I don't think we really need to see any gunships or fighter planes and whatnot, but I think having transport/utility helicopters with side mounted MGs and maybe a directed weapon used by a co-pilot would be acceptable, so long as they spawn elsewhere extremely rarely and need large amounts of ammunition and maintenance to be made viable. Otherwise I think we should just stick to basic helicopters and smaller planes. The map is now a lot more dense and has a lot more height to it, meaning that helicopters are not going to be the only way to get a high point view. Add to that the fact that the vast majority of interiors are enter-able and you solve one of the biggest problems that the mod had; that players on the ground had no way to effectively hide from helicopters or combat them using the terrain, because it was all extremely vulnerable. -
Depends on the kind. A Mosin sporter would be pointless, obviously, and if they're going to do something with the Lee-Enfield they may as just add one of those .308 SMLE conversions, because they don't fit the game and the only reason to add one would be as a homage to the mod. Certain guns, Gewehr 98/K98 based sporter rifles, however, are really common and popular in Europe, because they're basically diverse caliber variants of well-known rifles. It doesn't really matter though, the only thing that separates these kinds of bolt-actions from others is that they're redesigned rifle systems that were originally intended for a military purpose. Otherwise, they may as well just be their own rifles. I don't recall them ever talking about a 5.56 varmint rifle, unless you mean the CR-527, which was originally supposed to be chambered in 5.56 but then changed to 7.62x39 as helicopter crashsites were just added at the time. AUG is fine considering the large amount of NATO countries that use it. If it were a general military spawn you'd have a point but it's still used by quite a few Eastern countries. AK-101s are also used by several Russian internal branches, including the MVD that showed up during ArmA 2, and considering that their canon primary rifle was the (at the time) experimental AK-107 I don't think the AK-101 is an illogical weapon to have so long as it spawns in small numbers.

What do you think is the story behind this picture?
Chaingunfighter replied to ScorePoint's topic in General Discussion
If only. Despite being redundant after a certain point, it's still far better than the "HELP I DIED AND I THINK IT WAS HACKER OR GLITCH BUT I NOT SURE" reports you get a modest amount of. (An obvious exaggeration, but people reporting bugs here have a strong tendency to leave out significant portions of necessary information that would help identify their issues.) -
The sign has been there since the days of ArmA 2, so it has really nothing to do with the current developers as to why it is like that. And paying attention to detail is important, but I don't think you can say that the devs are being unprofessional when they decide that redoing the model of a sign that most people cannot read because of one simple spelling mistake on it is unnecessary. DayZ isn't going to be some sloppy product because a random sign outside of one town is wrong... there are far larger issues to be tackled, even within the modeling department, to ensure we get a "quality product." Hell, even the sign category itself has "bigger problems", like the stop signs in the area being in English (which is true for some parts of Eastern Europe, but inconsistent with the rest in this regard.) And that's still a complete non-issue to me and basically everyone else.
-
I agree. This would be especially great for the variety guns, because 10/20 round magazines would load quickly and thus you might want to have some of them in reserve, while 30 rounds would be the "default" and the 40 round magazines would take a bit longer. And very large magazines like the 7.62x39 75 round drum or 100 round beta CMAG (apparently planned) would take a good amount of time to load. You could do the same thing for machine guns, having to manually put bullets into the tray on a belt piece by piece. Now, I don't think we need to per say have to play a slow animation of watching all 30 rounds be loaded into the magazine but it has to take a good amount of time to where it's balanced and is an incentive to use a magazine-less rifle more often.

What do you think is the story behind this picture?

"He could no longer feel the gaping wound in his abdomen, his pain receptors all but shut down and blood flowing with all but adrenaline at this point. No, he couldn't feel it, but he definitely would not stop thinking about it. Not five minutes before it was just him and his group, of a considerable number and on destination to Novigrad, where they flew blindly towards yet more softly spoken rumors of possible sanctuary in hte lawless wastelands. The bitter reality of their hope was, well, dim - but it's not like they would have ever have the chance to realize that Chernarussian Capital had long been burned down, with the closest nearby per say "semblance of order" an Islamist-controlled autocratic 'refugee camp' on Mt. Hazar Bagh, 38 kilometers from the border of their neighboring post-Soviet European state, and mind you that even they were in midst of major disruption considering conflict with the vast numbers of stranded Coalition forces who were never able to leave the Middle East. But no, they would never learn of this, because of one, simple mistake. And of course, it would be Ivan who ruined it for them. Despite the coming idiocy, the group was able to come to the smart consensus of bypassing Chernogorsk and Dubky, instead choosing to pass through Nadezhdino and avoid the seemingly large numbers of infected that would undoubtedly lie in wait inside the city. Ivan was not the brightest, but he had the keenest eyesight of anyone in the group, pushing him to the scouting position. He also flattered himself with the idea that he was good shot (it couldn't be further than the truth, but he wasn't expected to shoot anything.) Upon finally reaching the town, Ivan spotted what may have been the group's saving grace; a clearly working and possibly fueled V3S. While the main roads were dangerous, having a large truck that could fit the entire group would make reaching the capital a cakewalk in comparison to the hardships they had endured before. Unfortunately, Ivan neglected to remind the group of one simple thing. One. simple. thing. And without speaking, the rest of his group entered the truck, preparing to drive. Ivan, preparing to enter, walked forward as if he were Neil Armstrong taking his first steps on the moon. So, so proud of himself. And just as he reached out to sit inside, the truck skyrocketed off the ground thousands of feet into the air, before proceeding to fall, eventually reaching terminal velocity, and slam into the ground, disappearing beneath it. Ivan stood, shocked, and the reality hit him. That one simple thing he forgot to remember? He was playing on Alpha 0.53. Ivan could do nothing but stare for three minutes. Then a hacker teleported and killed him in that awkward position. The end." -
See this: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/218678-weapons-and-reloading-issues-explained/ They're reworking the entire weapon systems that will allow for manual reloading of specific amounts of ammunition, rather than just dumping whatever you have into an empty gun. While he never specifically commented on manual initiation of the weapon's action (because "manual bolting" would also sensibly apply to manually using the lever, pump-action, and any other single-action guns as well) this is very good news and definitely makes me hopeful that it can happen. ArmA 3 isn't doing it because they're just making a DLC for a game that's already been completed for well over a year, whereas DayZ is only a substantial way through its first development phase. So don't lose any hope just yet.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Chaingunfighter replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
It fits, but definitely not more so than the MP5A5 (or MP5A3/any other full-fledged non-SD MP5 variant.) The Vityaz is common in Russia, but it isn't used anywhere else. MP5s are used in nearly every Eastern European country to some degree (be it police or military), including Russia. Plus, any other MP5s they added would be able to use the preexisting magazines, so it adds more use to those and reduces the development time. Not that there's any reason we can't have both, they operate fairly differently and have completely different appearances. It's the same as if they were to (hopefully) add a full-length AR-15/M16 to go along with the M4A1, it doesn't inherently stop them from doing other equivalent 5.56 ARs as well. And like I said, because the parts between many of these variants share attachments, magazines, animations, and stats, it would mean reduced time in development so ultimately they should at least do the larger versions. -
More pouch types for the plate carrier
Chaingunfighter replied to stielhandgranate's topic in Suggestions
Radiotelephone, basic grenade/knife/radio/canteen pouches, and hydration packs that you specifically store water within would be good, however I don't think we need to go super in depth for medical ones and whatnot. If they didn't want to get too specific then I'd be perfectly okay with just some small, medium, and large "utility pouches" which, for all intents and purposes, just increased the amount of stuff you could carry. -
It's certainly possible, in some instances with the right flare gun and right 12 gauge shotgun shells. In order to fit the Orion-style flare gun we have you'd need to cut the shell down. And considering the situation, with Soviet-era 12 Gauge ammunition not exactly being consistent, and the apocalypse at hand, you'd still be very likely to misfire and cause major bodily harm. It's not needed at all. I can't imagine flare guns will be so common in the future that this would ever be used anyway. I mean, it definitely wouldn't make sense if they were spawning more than far more capable weapons like the IZH-43.

Is showing a players name through check pulse intentional? Especially when they are still conscious.
Chaingunfighter replied to iConnorN's topic in General Discussion
The devs have already stated that there's nothing that they really can do within reason, nor do they intend to. I mean, what would they do? Block alternate programs, force you to use your in-game mic, or what? None of those are great solutions. -
Instead of removing blood types they're going to make them more accessible and reduce the amount of health you get back by just eating, meaning it will no longer be viable or even possible to fully recover without a transfusion. This has already been the plan for some time now. The rangefinder in DayZ has no zoom button, so that suggestion doesn't make sense. Just use binoculars if you really need zoom. (I'm not necessarily opposed to them adding a separate zoom-able device in the future, though.)
