Have you actually tried to use any of those melee addons?

I like how everyone continues to ignore the fact that melee cannot be implemented in ARMA in a remotely usable way. Not to mention the fact that even if the game DID have melee, unless the weapon had a substantially longer reach than that of the zombies, you would get hit by them every single time.

TrackIR does take a little getting used to, but it never made me feel sick. I have a feeling that many of the players complaining about TrackIR making them nauseous are playing with a low framerate.

Yeah there are a few text files in the .pbos that look like to do lists or ideas for the future. The sfx.pbo also contains sound files for a cell phone and geiger counter. Doesn't really mean that any of that stuff will be implemented, but they're potentially cool ideas. Especially the stuff in the story.txt would be difficult to implement in ARMA in a persistant world scenario. Also, almost every post-apocalyptic game (included Fallout 1 and 2 by Interplay and Black Isle) has included trash all over the place, old cowboy guns, survival skills, and old tech. Also, scattered audio files are by no means a new way to tell a story.

Ok this is a link to a list of every weapon that spawns in the game. I am super lazy and pasted them in the order I copied them from the config. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/20460662/weaponlist.txt There, no one has to argue over what spawns and what doesn't anymore.

Maybe if a player gets killed on your watch you could store their stuff in a tent for them to reclaim or something. Also, anyone who thinks this would be boring should consider that it's an almost guaranteed shot at PvP, since people are almost certainly going to try and attack. VVVV Really doubt that they have anywhere close to enough players to pull this off yet. -
Did a quick search through the config.cpp and didn't find any references to SCARs at all. The Weapons.txt which does contain references to SCARs looks like some kind of to do list or reference or something. So yeah, you should probably ditch the Mk16.

80% of the people who play DayZ have probably never posted on the forums. The reason the forums are filled with people complaining about stuff is because they either care about the mod or they like arguing.

This "no icon" stuff has to stop. ARMA has a ton of guns in it by default and all of them have icons. This is not an effective metric for whether a gun is supposed to be included in the mod. The "no icon" thing was a reference to people giving themselves vehicle mounted or static weapons like the GAU8, M2, or Mk19, which do not have icons because they were never meant to be equippable. Given that the available loot tables are, I assume, taken straight out of the mod's scripts, they are almost certainly 100% accurate as to what is supposed to spawn. If that's not how they are being built, then I am probably wrong, although I have no idea why they would do it any other way.

I can't see any reason not to add new content. Although I think Chernarus presents more interesting dynamics. Also, Yes, because that is where ARMA truly shines.
