If you don't like the six launcher there is a torrent with an archive that you can extract straight to your ARMA directory. Also, are you seriously complaining that there are too many updates and bug fixes?

I'm sorry, are you suggesting that the dev team attempts to simulate human behavior? Are you not a human? Is your behavior not inherently human? P.S. Tons of people are playing in groups. They just aren't grouping up with random strangers.

This isn't going to help that much if all you put on there is the DayZ folder. All you will be loading quickly from your DayZ folder is zombies, tin cans, and a few weapons. The vast majority of content that is being streamed in DayZ is from the chernarus, buidlings, objects, plants, and misc .pbos in your ARMA 2 directory. Edit: Altogether it's around 3gb of data that you would want on your RAM to stream perfectly smoothly.

Yeah that all sucks, but what sucks more is bad performance.

Just letting you know that turning up the gamma doesn't do anything with the beta patches. Gamma values are enforced serverside now.

I feel like a lot of people are posting without reading the posts that came before. Light pollution or ambient light isn't the issue. Human eyes adjust over (a long) time to darkness. Currently, at least on my monitor, there is NO detail on a dark night. I'd just like to be able to make out the bare edges of objects. Pretty sure knife fights are notoriously brutal and deadly; often for both parties. Also, it's a lot harder to stab someone where you want when they are moving around. Not that any of this matters because Day Z isn't real life. P.S. The vast majority of stabbings are multiple stabbings.

The way I see it is that zombies are just there to give you something else to think about with regard to players. For example, they force you to sneak through towns in order to avoid being detected by players, as a gunshot will give you away. You might have to think twice about shooting some dude in a large city because you will be swarmed by zombies, presenting a difficult getaway. You aggro a zombie while looting and are forced to shoot it, possibly giving away your presence. Do you want to risk it and go on, or bug out and hit somewhere else? It might be cool to have some areas be more difficult through zombie numbers, health, or damage in order to force a bit of cooperation, though.

Logging out to avoid zombies is such a minor problem that (in my opinon) it is basically a non-issue compared to logouts in PvP. It's one of those situations where who really cares if someone logs out to avoid death by zombies? It has no effect on other players and you will never know if someone else is doing it.

I was not on the side of night being too dark before the latest beta patches (and it is the beta patches that are responsible for the gamma changes, not Day Z) but with the new changes my gamma is being forced to that of the server. This results in everything but the sky being pitch black. It looks like a cardboard cutout is floating in front of me, resulting in a complete lack of a sense of depth. Unless there is a light source wrecking your night vision, you should be able to at least make out basic outlines of objects that are a few feet in front of you.
