ARMA supports normal maps. You might want to consider doing a high poly bake or something. You could probably do some pretty cool splits in the baseball bat or something. It would make the tape look better, too.

Hi. Grass either needs to not disappear with distance, or be disabled. As it is right now, all it does is make it so prone players can't see while still being visible to anyone outside of like 30 meters. And, yes, I am mad. Edit: You can't disable grass in DayZ. It's locked on.

You sure showd us!

Died of dehydration... in the rain.

It would actually be pretty cool to be able to set up a sheet or something to collect rainwater. Maybe even be able to store it in larger containers to refill canteens from. -
People who play this game sure do whine a lot.

PC Gamer stream with Rocket and friends!

I think it's pretty hilarious that people keep referring to Oblivion and Skyrim as if they were good games. Or relevant to anything going on in DayZ for that matter. -
This is pretty easy to test in real life. Anyone have a pet rabbit?
-
Well I thought this was hilarious.

Classes would force players to adopt a certain playstyle. This game isn't about forcing you to do anything. It's about allowing players to make their own choices based on their situation and own personal goals. I get that people want to try and force teamplay, but teamplay isn't something that has to be forced. It's already advantageous to play in a group, just not a group of people that you don't know and trust. Skills that raise as you use them are an entirely different matter, as they don't force you to play a certain way, but rather make you better at playing the way you already do. Finally, zombies are not supposed to be the main threat. Players are.

This is pretty much the opposite of what this game is trying to do.
-
The answer to your question is no because there is no such thing as zombies.

This forum really needs a sticky to dispell this "No Icon" myth. You can very easily tell if a weapon is supposed to be dropped in DayZ by looking at the game files. They aren't encrypted or anything, you just need to download a tool for opening the .pbo files. This weapon is not supposed to drop in DayZ. Edit: Oh, and Battleye will not ban anyone for picking up guns. Especially not for weapons included by default in ARMA 2. It would be kind of a problem for all the people who don't play DayZ.

So long, because DayZ is not meant for me.

Ok, seriously though, why do people keep posting threads to say they are going to stop playing the game? I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but you have 18 posts. It's not like you are an established member of the forums and will be sorely missed. If you are going to stop playing then do it. People quit playing games all the time without feeling the need to post a whole thread about it on public forums. No one is going to try to convince you to keep playing a game that you don't think is fun. -
Bullet physics and gun limitations.
racecar replied to Toybox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Windage is strictly an ACE thing. Also, the descriptions of bullet behavior in this thread are not exactly accurate. Bullets to not travel upward in releation to the angle they were fired, they only travel downward as they are affected by gravity. Sights are zeroed to a certain range, which has them pointing at a point below the level of the barrel to compensate for bullet drop. This makes it appear that bullets "hop-up" in relation to the barrel, when in fact they just haven't fallen as far as the sights are pointing. Edit: Nevermind people posted better links. I'm not sure whether the ballistics simulated in ARMA II are accurate to real life, but ballistics are simulated. -
Is the game basically over once you have piles of loot?
racecar replied to HedonismBot's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Too many people are playing this like an MMO. I'm not saying that's necessarily wrong, but if you are playing this game for the sole purpose of collecting cool equipment, the game isn't going to have much longevity for you. There's simply not that much item variety in the mod and equipment value is subjective anyway. Consider the equipment you have as a tool to accomplish other goals, and you will probably have a more varied and interesting gameplay experience. Hunt other players, help other players, protect them, try to make contacts and group up, secure an area and charge players a toll to pass or simply kill anyone who trys to get through. The thing about this mod is that it doesn't offer any defined goals other than survival. You're going to get out of it what you put in. Edit: Also, there is not "end game loot" in this mod. You can kill someone with an Enfield with as much efficiency as with an M107. With planning and skill, a group of well coordinated players with handguns can take out a larger, unprepared group with assault rifles and machine guns. It's possible to get an M4 CCO within 10 minutes of spawning with little resistance if you hit deerstands.
