[New Mod] DayZ Civilian [Work in progress]!
grishnakah replied to purplish's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Couple of questions. Is this meant to be a gamemode for a small group (or solo play), or is it meant to be mass multiplayer? There's currently no servers running this mod at the moment. Is it because of lack of support at the moment? I forgot to reset my filters... If you need help with finding bugs and what-not, can I help out? -
Anyone else experienced this?

That was a character sheet bug. Before they upped the amount of character sheets the servers could support, quite a few people spawned as someone else, but with their own name. I spawned as someone else's character, with winchester, heaps of ammo, but on the coast, and dieing of dehydration. Although it's not a legit spawn for me, that character was the longest surviving one I've had (just hit 4 days, killed upon logging into a bandit's hideout). -
Has Problem With DM, Gets Classed As "Carebear"

I don't wonder why I'm being called "care bear". I just don't see why we have to be forced to murder other players in order to survive. Before the 1.6 patch, we could all easily tell a bandit from a fellow survivor, and easily make groups, run through towns, grab what supplies we needed, and run inland. Now, everyone is quick to fire at the first sign of another survivor, because they're afraid of being shot first. Why can't we be friends? -
Oh rocket.. you sly dog you.

Slowbro. He announced this, and has been mentioned several times by several different sources. He is getting his own stand at E3. The essential reason behind this is because DayZ is whats bringing people back to ArmA2, and it's eventual port to ArmA3 is what Bohemia is relying on. They're using his and his mod's popularity to help boost the popularity for ArmA3. No, it's not becoming a seperate game. Not yet, anyways. -

Most of you will probably just regard this as another "Carebear" post, and you'll tell me that you enjoy my tears. Well this is the audiance that this post is targetting. I know since the recent increase of new players connecting after the mass popularity and attention this mod has been getting, that player killing has been on the rise. Ofcourse, I only started a week and a half ago, and I already have (nearly) mastered the ability to survive in this game (with friends ofcourse, as that's the only way). However, with the 1.6 patch taking away bandit skins, players have been alot more trigger-happy. This means that the newer players who genuinely want to survive, but don't know how the mod works and such are usually the first to die. This then causes rage, followed by the player quitting. Now, apply this to nearly every new player who comes. The problem here is that this means less people will play the game, and 'Rocket' will lose his audiance. He can't run a game on the small number of players who have followed since the beginning. That's how the popularity of a game dies, and as such, the game itself. These unmarked bandits are essentially ruining the game. Now I know most of you will reply with "In a real world scenario, people will kill each other for beans, blah blah blah". This is actually not true. The majority of people who actually play this are most likely scrawny, weak teenagers or morbidly obese. No, I'm not trying to offend you. Just stating a fact. Do you honestly believe that you will come across an M249 SAW in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? Do you really think you can just "raid" a military compund for supplies? You want to try to fight other people for their supplies? Good luck with that. Truth is, you can't. No, you can't just "raid" a military compund. That'd be one of the first things that gets bunkered down, by the military themselves. Most of you will even struggle to outrun zombies. Alot of you don't even know what kind of food will last for the years to come. The real key to survival is companionship. You must rely on other people to help you, and thus, you help them. Really, you'd raid several shops to try to find cans of spam, spaghetti, and ofcourse, beans. You fortify your homes, and wait for the whole thing to blow over. Or, you go out, trying to kill other survivors for their supplies and/or weaponry. Most of you, being as unfit as you are, will die attempting that. Yes, there will be real bandits out there. People who will kill other people, steal supplies, rape the women. But those people are not playing this game. Where are they now? They're out there body building, fucking women, picking fist-fights with people in nightclubs. You are not one of these tools. You are a gamer. You have a problem with the outside world, and find peace in this virtual world. Don't act like a bandit. Act like a real survivor. Team up with people and fight the hordes together. Or, if you must choose to kill people, take on people AWAY from the coastal areas. Don't pick on the noobs who don't know how to play. Teach them first so they can atleast learn to defend themselves from you or other players. Go have a deathmatch out in Stary or NW. Leave Cherno/Elektro for the players who need the help. Let them learn to play. Don't drive away the new players. Thats my opinion. It is neither correct or wrong, just like your opinion. Everyone is entitiled to one. tl;dr: Don't be a noob. :D -
I've seen Zeds spawn when I was nearly half a kilometre away. Near empty server. Scouted town. No other players in the town.
