EDIT: Since I do own ArmA 2 on Steam, I have done the "verify integrity of game cache" option and received an interesting message, "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." This has happened before when fixing other games, but nothing has ever been fixed. Is there something else I need to do the reacquire this file?

Hey guys, I've been getting fed up from deaths from survivors and even heroes such as myself when I don't respond to their 'Are you friendly?' messages. The reason for this is because I can't see/hear anyone's direct communication. This is not server related, I know this, I can see my own and others can see mine. The only hint at solving (or in this case knowing its origin since I can't backdate I don't think) is that my friend, on his old computer, had a Windows 7 system and he could see/hear direct communication fine. I have a Windows 8 system and have never been able to see direct communications. When my friend got the same computer as me he could no longer see direct communication. If this is not the problem and someone knows what it is, please share it with me. It would be much appreciated. - Thanks!
