So sorry being a bandit isn't fun for you anymore. I'm sure kos will be SOOOOO much more fun. I play friendly and have only been killed once...and it was my fault...I forgot I had an axe armed and walked toward a player to leave a building...I would have shot me too. You know you can run from people with guns right? I have fun being sneaky and trying not to be seen. If I see someone that looks menacing, I avoid them. Shooting someone just because they have a gun? You fail.

DISCLAIMER: I am a long time mod player and day one SA alpha buyer. This post is not about intrinsic issues with an alpha release. This post is about the order in which patch fixes are implemented in the alpha release. I hope we aren't seeing another incarnation of the mod where we get "shiny" new functions while pre-existing fundamental game issues continue. For example: 1. Zombie bugs. 2. Item hotkeys not working. Zombies walking through walls. Multiple presses of hotkeys needed to change armed/held items. It comes down to this: Do you want hunting, vehicles, crafting, etc. BEFORE zombies are fixed, or after zombies are fixed? I want the return of hunting very much. But I think most of us would like a stable game before anything else is added. I think it makes sense to fix these issues now, sooner than later, than to have them fixed at the end of the alpha cycle. With every patch that doesn't address issues like the two listed above, I grow more apprehensive. I'm willing to wait longer for a bigger patch. I don't care if we get a patch every week. I'd rather see a patch that stabilizes basic gameplay. Right now I have not seen this addressed in any official DayZ SA post. I hear talk about vehicles and other things. Why not this? I am willing to give the alpha every benefit of the doubt. I want it to be the best game it can be. That's why I'm here. But it's a guess as to the strategy of the patch fixes. I'm going to grow tired of things being added like spray paint if zombies keep swimming in floors and player's body parts keep glitching through buildings.

Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
need matches replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
I love updates. Really I do. BUT can zombies still walk through walls?!?! I'm starting to fear that we are getting the mod again. New content but broken fundamental issues. I feel this should be a higher priority than many of the fixes and content changes that we are getting. I'm forgiving. I just expect zombies to walk through walls or swim in the floor and play it that way. But this can't go on. Is this that hard to fix? I don't know. But surely it can be. My faith will really be restored when this is straightened out. -
I like the enterable buildings, but I already ignore many spots because loot doesn't seem to spawn there. This seemingly defeats the purpose of having more enterable buildings. I should have to search all structures for loot. Loot spawns should potentially occur anywhere. I have never found loot in: deer stands watchtowers three story barns tiny sheds basic log cabins Maybe I've just had bad luck. But I already ignore all of these places.

I always found the learning curve to be very satisfying. As I learned new things and techniques for surviving bandit attacks, I felt rewarded. I think a tutorial would diminish the magic of discovering the game. Don't worry. We all started the same way and we survived. :) ps: I assume the orange chain means you are losing connection and the red is highly probable loss of communication with server.

sliding after regaining consciousness/zombie one shotted me
need matches posted a topic in General Discussion
I was showing "healthy" in the inventory and one hit from a zombie knocked me out. If a player is the healthiest he can be, one hit from a zombie should not knock him out. Maybe if thirsty and hungry. But healthy? Then, for the first time, I came to and experienced the "sliding bug". Is there a workaround of some sort for this ghastly behavior? This should be a high priority fix, along with zombies walking through walls and swimming in floors. Is this being addressed? Both the sliding bug and ghost zombies? EDIT: I just learned to search the bug reports. I knew it was happening to lots of people. Obviously it has been reported a billion times. -

I was trapped in a house. I tried crawling and I think that worked. Hope you get out. -
(quoting doesn't seem to be working. So I removed this reply)

And just think, it's only going to get better!

I have an idea for helping with the KOS problem. Rocket should read.
need matches replied to Rzach's topic in General Discussion
Um, are you old enough to remember the LA Riots of 1992? People were shooting FIREMEN and dragging people out of cars just to bash their heads in with bricks. -
I understand how the "temporary" meters work. Like, thirst can take care of hunger, just like IRL. Yellow, brown, red, etc. But, with the removal of the "My thirst is quenched" etc. Will I still get a message when I am full? So that I know that I'm getting some blood regeneration? I have tons of food and have kept my thirst and hunger from being mentioned at all for a long while. I'd hate to binge eat and find that I did it for nothing. Anyone have some info to share? :)

Well, it is easier to find an m4 than a can opener. I have magazines, m4, pistol, 2 canteens, two water bottles, 3 bags rice, cereal, etc. Still haven't found a can opener this game.

Use the mic people. Seriously, I'm about ready to just kill people that don't answer me. GET A MIC! AND USE IT! If someone doesn't use a mic and runs up to me, I will dispatch them.

Don't forget you can fill them at wells too! :)

It was night. In the firehouse stairwell. I heard a zombie and saw something crouching in the corner. Something else was moving. I axed the zombie and axed the crouching thing. Then I saw the clown mask. I thought, Oh well, might as well finish killing him now. Now, this player was most likely AFK. But in a firehouse? Really? First of all, that's dumb. Second of all, he had THREE 45s. THREE! No wonder I can't ever find any. This guy is hoarding them. Lastly, looking back, I wish I had realized he was AFK before I killed him. If I had to do it over again, I'd have looted one of the guns and given him the food and soda that I had to get rid of to make room. I think it would have been funny when he came back and saw that someone had taken a gun but given him loot as well. See, you never stop learning from experiences in DayZ. And if that guy is reading this, I'm very sorry. But don't AFK in a firehouse.

I've got over two hours going. I've got: 3 water bottles 2 canteens Box of cereal 45 and ammo and magazine lots of spaghetti 2 tins tuna 2 tins sardines bag of rice 3 pristine bandages 2 shirt bandages ammo box with assorted ammo lots of soda 2 vitamin bottles antibiotics some more stuff I can't remember Want list: m4 magazine/s morphine Most of the stuff I got looting elektro and cherno. Avoid bandits and snipers by sprinting, zig zagging, using cover, being sneaky, don't run out in the open, and use your head by not running straight to high pvp areas.

any1 know how long bodies/dropped loot remain on servers?
need matches posted a topic in General Discussion
I had to drop some stuff to make room for handgun and loot. Anyone have an idea of how long my dropped sodas and stuff stayed there for someone else to find? Has it changed from the mod? Will it be longer in the future? It would be so awesome to randomly find dropped items and random dead bodies partially looted. -
I think the outdoor combat is much better. It will be harder with more zombies which I like. I like being able to actually kill them with an axe instead of them jumping around like UFOs in the mod. However, using an axe inside is almost impossible in hallways and small areas. I guess it would be IRL. Do hand weapons work better? IDK, I just liked indoor combat better in the mod. I think zombie speed inside and out is about right. It's good. But I hope, as more zombies are coming soon, that indoor combat is tightened up first. :)

All they have to do is space server's "game time" out. Offset from GMT in different intervals. THEN give the player the choice to search servers by "in-game" time, just like the mod. As SA is now, I pity the newbie that downloads the game and then can only find nighttime servers. And, should you find a daytime server by chance, it will be completely populated and totally looted. Nighttime + current loot spawning = not fun at all. I hope this is addressed soon. Nighttime does not give a good "first impression" to newcomers who decided to support the alpha. I really think this should be priority #1.
-
I agree. We don't need only daytime or only nighttime servers. What we NEED are more options and a way to SEARCH by server in-game time. I hope this pans out. Don't get me started on newbies' first impressions coming from night play. With loot the way it is, nighttime is horrible at the moment. I see the epeen comments from the mod forums are alive and well in SA. Don't tell people they shouldn't have a choice. That is YOUR choice. Right now there really is no choice.

Night time is forever? And day does not exist? [Solved]
need matches replied to ProGamerGov's topic in General Discussion
NOTE: It is not possible to search servers by in-game time right now. I've played the mod a good while now. I am also extremely frustrated with server times. In the US they are all pretty much in sync. Forcing a newbie to play for their very first time during the night is not "badass" or "real DayZ". Quite frankly, as the alpha SA is now, it's more like torture. These are people that in good faith paid money to support the alpha. I hope this is addressed because we should get the choice. Even the mod has the search by time function. ESPECIALLY with loot the way it is right now. Right now, for an extreme radius around spawn sites, there is nothing to drink or eat. And remember that in SA you begin the game thirsty. And not all towns have wells. Imagine being a new player (or even an old one) and no matter what direction you go in, you will not find food/drink. Imagine doing this when you aren't even familiar with the map. So, running in the nighttime until you die is not a very fun experience. It's not DayZ. I think alpha supporters should get the very best impression when first playing the SA. I cringe that newbies' first DayZ experience is the nighttime in its current state. NOTE: It is not possible to search servers by in-game time right now. -
Graphics always grey after being dying of dehydration
need matches replied to Tocaefoge's topic in General Discussion
You need food to regenerate blood, which you have lost due to dehydration. I haven't had to do this yet in the SA. But in the mod you eat food whether "hungry" or not. Most likely this is how it is in SA as well. Try eating food. And, like the mod, it might take a lot depending on how much blood you've lost. Unless I'm wrong, you can't self administer blood packs in SA. -
What are your BIGGEST issues in the game?
need matches replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
1. Loot. Vanilla mod spawn rate is better right now than SA. 2. Servers NEED to be searchable by in-game time. More time options. 3. Spawn with full stomach and fully quenched. Not sure why we have to start out thirsty. Especially bad due to loot situation. (Not all towns have wells you know.) 4. Would like to see something along the lines of the old HUD but with more info for energy, weakness, etc. The HUD was axed but now we have to monitor text chat or check inventory screen. So what did we gain by this? If/when the first two issues are addressed, I'll be VERY happy. I like what I see so far. Most of my other issues have been listed elsewhere.
