    CHALLENGE!

Ok, so here's how it went down from my perspective: http://dayzdb.com/map#set=15057 After coming back from our mutual smoke break, I was in the general vicinity of the red circle. I checked the forums, saw that Black Dynamite (hence forward B.D.) was also back. I started slowly making my way, from tree to tree, using cover and concealment towards the next point, the blue circle (at all times I had my mosin out, and raised, and was at all times in 1stPP, despite my server currently being set to regular). About halfway to point blue, I checked the forums again to see if B.D. had responded with an ETA. I saw that he had, saying he was close enough to stop checking the forums until we were done. Likewise, I closed the browser down, and proceeded with the hunt. Continuing to move from tree to tree, never running unless I needed to clear a large open space quickly, otherwise moving slowly, and stopping frequently, I continued to move towards point blue. Along the way, I was constantly checking my 3 o'clock and my 6. At the time, I was expecting that I would most likely find him moving between the buildings on the other side, or to come towards me from the rear, using the trees as I was. My intent was to move around the back of the tarmac, and attempt to sneak around to the other side with all the buildings, and continue to search for him there. Once I had arrived at point blue, I stopped for a few moments, and then made a rush to the back of the two large, double door warehouse buildings nearby. From there, I proceeded into the tree line opposite the warehouses, and resumed my slow pace, moving from tree to tree. Eventually I arrived at point green (roughly). At that time, I took a moment to plan my next move, while continuing to scan about for my prey, when I finally saw him: There he was, directly across the open field from my position, running nearby the wall on the other side of the open field, moving towards the tents. I immediately ducked behind the nearest tree, then leaned out. With my rifle now ADS'ed, I followed him with my sights (zeroed to one hundred, aiming slightly high to compensate for the actual distance being closer to 150m (using the map just now, I see that my estimate was on the money: actual distance was 145m)) as he moved along the wall, passing behind trees and bushes. I picked a spot further ahead, where I could see he was headed, and that was in the open, and waited. A few moments later, he began to cross the small gap I had chosen between the trees, and I fired. He continued to move a few meters further, then stopped behind some bushes. At that point, I fired 3 more shots into the spot where I thought he was. With only one shot left in the mosin, I put myself into my opponent's head for a moment: "He knows I have a mosin, which means he will assume I have 5 shots before needing to reload. He might therefore wait for me to fire the 5th shot before making a move, knowing that I will need to reload at that point." So, I reloaded then and there, ejecting my last round, and loading a fresh set of 5. At this point I continued to observe. Seeing no movement for several moments, I began to think that he might either be dead/unconscious, OR he might have managed to crawl to a different position. I decided then that further shots might give away my position even further, assuming I wasn't already totally compromised. So I went prone and crawled further along the tree line, in the direction of the tents. I then made my way (still crawling) to a clump of bushes out in the field, all along the way utilizing the curvature of the terrain to gain the most cover and concealment possible. Halfway to the bushes, a zombie attacked me, having made no noise on its approach. I turned and shot him, then moved to a crouch and rushed the rest of the way to the bushes. Once there, I put away my mosin, trading it for my FNx45, deciding that if he was still in the same place where I last saw him, and due to my closer proximity to that spot, I might need to be able to put more rounds down range more quickly. I stayed there for several moments, seeing no movement in any direction. At this point, I Alt Tabbed and checked the forums. As I pulled up the thread, the first thing I read from B.D. was "G.G". Reading that he was unconscious, I decided to do the honorable thing, and patched him up. I perused his gear, but only out of curiosity, rather than to take anything from him. Based on the ruined items, it would seem I had shot him center mass, in the chest, like any good Marine should do. Once he had regained consciousness, we waved and parted ways. All things said and done, it was fast, fun, and intense. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and will likely be issuing more challenges in the future. GG B.D., GG....

very well. I will tell you this much: I am somewhere inside the walled in portion of the base. So don't bother checking the tents, or the facility on top of the hill "Bashnya". Also, I may or may not be inside a building, but either way, I am down on the ground. NOT camping the top of the firestation or the ATC... How long until I can expect you? *do I have time for a cigarette?

Still here. Still alone on the server. No friends to help me. No scope for my mosin. Just me. And an itchy trigger finger. Are you pansies scared to loose all ur phat lute???
  15. Ok, so I just got myself my own server. But I thought of an idea. What would you say if I made it into the Un-Official trading server? We have a thread here in the forums to arrange trades. But we DONT as yet have a server owner willing to "dedicate" his server to the purpose. The problem is that many players may want to trade on regular mode, or on hardcore, and that arranging a trade is difficult on the forums, as you wait for response, and the thread itself gets buried by KOS threads, or "ohnoes roket iz leavings us" thread. What I am proposing is to have this server of mine serve both purposes. I would probably need to rent a teamspeak to help with it, but basically anybody wishing to conduct a trade would inform me, then I would reset the server and change it back and forth from hardcore to regular as needed. I could also possibly serve as a "trade official" of sorts. Naturally, my server has only one rule: the rule of the jungle (there are no rules). So it would be possible for betrayals and scams to occur, but any carrying out such things would mark themselves as untrustworthy in the future. So if you want to continue to use the service, you would not want to do anything shady, lest you be reported to the trading guild as one who is untrustworthy. Basically what I am suggesting is something similar to what the TMW medics have set up, but rather than offering medical assistance, I offer a trading system: teamspeak server (which I will get if the idea sees support from the community) on which one seeking a trade can connect to and negotiate with others to arrange a trade, and serving as a means to contact me to change the server to/from hardcore/regular as necessary, and offer any trading arbitration services (a middle man with no stake in the trade, who is there only to ensure the trade is conducted fairly and honorably). If the idea grows enough, I could see there being more members of the trading guild, serving as traveling traders who scrounge for desirable items like scopes and weapons, or higher ranking officials that serve as arbitrators, etc. There's lots of opportunities for roll play here too! Later, if the idea takes off, I may be able to arrange some sort of donation system, and expand the thing to include 2 servers, one hardcore and one regular, thereby eliminating the need to switch one back and forth. As it is, I only have enough money to maintain the one by myself. Well, what say you community? I am willing to set this up, if the idea gets enough support. YEA or NAY? As a side note, this server, while serving this purpose, would CONTINUE to be a normal server in every other respect: players will be able to do what they want, and when they want. Including kosing, ambushing trades, etc. There would not be any "rules".
  16. Not disrespecting your view here, or anyone elses for that matter. Its the reason why I created this topic; to see if many in the community would get behind such an idea. wouldn't even have to be a majority, just enough people to justify it. But how is it ruining immersion any more than the TMW medics are? There are OPERTUNITIES for immersive roll play here. Im basically envisioning a traders guild here. We're in an apocalypse folks! Its back to the dark ages. Traveling merchants and traders would almost certainly pop up in such an environ. Im proposing this as an option for players to roll play into: We have people playing heroes, medics, bandits, snipers, hunters, sociopaths, 12 yr old spoiled, pre-pubescent snot rags, mercenaries, mad scientists that test the effects of bleach on the human tongue. Why not traders? Technology isn't gone in the game. People would find a way to restore some form of long range communications (ham radios, walkie talkies, etc.), form communities, gangs, commonwealths, and yes, trader guilds. TeamSpeak is part of things, no getting around it. Eventually, certain items will become very rare and hard to come by. Trading, and having a place to quickly and efficiently discuss trades, will be a nice thing to have when that time comes. What do you mean? Are you referring to people backstabbing during a trade, or plotting to ambush a trade? Of course. Its the nature of the beast...and makes it that much more fun and interesting. How would this have any effect on private hives whatsoever? They will still exist, and still be doing their own things. Obviously, this will only work for public hive, but I fail to see how it will affect private hives in any way...

    LOL at those who think

nope. more zombies wont change KOS. More dangerous, AND more numerous zombies, along with more content, options, and reasons for cooperation, will. But nothing will ever get rid of it completely. As it should be....
  18. I had two MOS's (military occupational specialty) in the corp: 7011 (expeditionary airfield systems tech), and 1345 (heavy equipment operator). As an HE operator, I met many marines that were crane operators. They all thought they were special, or something, just because they had a license in their pockets. Arrogant bastards! *sarcasm.
  19. Only if enough people in the community agree to the idea. Otherwise it wont be worth the time, effort, or money. Let me be clear folks. I want to this to be something that enriches the game and its community. Theres not a lot to trade for right now, but eventually more things will be brought into the game. And there is also lots of roll play opportunity here, as said. But if there is just no interest, I cant deem it worth my time and effort. And let me just say, that if there is not a lot of interest, then I will find it kind of sad. How many people complain about having nothing to do, or "kosing". Well, here is an idea that would contribute a lot of positive aspects to the game community. At least, I think would...

When does your "switch" flip during an encounter?

A player approaching me, and shouting "FRIENDLY! FRIENDLY!", or "HEY MAN, YOU FRIENDLY?", will be executed in the speediest manner possible. I HATE it when people break my immersion with that shit. You don't have to roll play, but neither do you have to remind me I am using a key board by telling me to "PRESS F2!" (in that circumstance, even if you have the drop on me, im still gonna try to stab you with bullets).

    Crazykages house

thanks. already seeing some activity, but would like to see more. putting up a poll for public opinion.
  22. First, read this thread and get up to speed on all relevant information, so that you understand why this is being proposed: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/177372-new-town-nw/ Done? Ok. My comment from that thread, transcribed here: странно город That is to say, "Oddington" in Russian. I typed "oddington" into google translate, but it didn't work. So I separated the word into "odd", and "ington". "странно" means odd. Sadly, "ing" does not translate into russian, so I took the basic meaning of "ington" and assumed it referred to a city, or pollis, and instead typed in "town", which gave me "город", which, according to google translate, relates to "city, town, place, borough, burg". Hence, странно город....... I hereby move that this^ be made the official, in game name of this town, in honor of its first officially declared discoverer, Sgt. Oddball. All in favor, respond to the poll with a "YEA". All against, respond with a "NAY".

Heart Attack Mystery Solved ( I think)

actually, the truth is that there ARE no heart attacks as yet (at least, not on stable branch). The "mystery" turned out to be a server message made by the admin, set to pop up after a long delay.

    ultra rare katana

Its not totally unreasonable to think one might be found in that area. I don't live in japan, yet I own 3, fully functional, full tang, forged, high carbon, sharp as shit katanas. They aren't true "Nihonto" (made in japan) swords, but they are ABSOLUTELY able to chop your fukin head off. But while its not impossible that one might be found there, I think it highly unlikely. As much as I love katanas for their aesthetic, as well as their lethality and efficiency, I feel that a katana would be out of place in this game. So, no...
