I mean, I cant even go hunting for bugs and glitches and other issues, because I cant seem to find myself enough basic gear to survive to do it...

Made this in another thread, but I don't want to distract that thread too much, trying to support the idea, SO I am making this thread to move discussion of the idea HERE, leaving other thread to be what it is...and to let my idea be seen by more eyeballs....shameless, I know. But I digress... I hereby propose a "North West Airfield Sniper's Convention" party. The idea is to get a bunch of interested people together at NWAF (large numbers would discourage randoms from interfering), and have us a party....eat some beans, have some sodas, maybe sip on a little alcohol tincture (no, don't actually do that. It will kill you...)..........and do some testing. We get some volunteers (three of them) to stand, kneel, and prone down range with a building to their backs to serve as references, and we take a bunch of screen shots showing the size of a "body" in the various scopes relative to distance from target (it will be necessary to measure out distances of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 600 meters in order to establish a KD course). What we will need: Moisin, PU and LR scopes M4 and relevant scope optics lots of ammo for zeroing and accuracy tests (no shooting people, just inanimate targets) Having a server admin present would be helpful, possibly to lock out the server for the duration of the test (?), or just to punish any dirty trolls that try to crash the party. Having a streamer onboard would also be useful. Food and refreshments. It gets hot out on the tarmac. I would know... And we take screen shots showing the size of a human target in optics at various KNOWN distances, to serve as a zeroing reference. And, I SUPPOSE we will share the research data with everyone here in the forums... If you are interested in participating, please sign here, with steam contact info. I will organize us and find a time and place that fits for as many as possible. If you are not interested, feel free to express your opinion, but keep it civil. TL;DR: screw you. you don't get a synopsis. don't be lazy, scroll up and read, damn you!

I make a useful, constructive proposal that if done would benefit the community, and what do I get? 1st reply is a sarcastic comment about my post's legitimacy. 2nd reply EDIT:....was deleted. Thank you mods... Why is it that if a post is not about KoS whiners, KoS braggers, people complaining about the state of the game, or server hoppers, ghosting, or combat loggers, it just gets buried or derailed by trolls. Go away. I invited you to reply with a difference in opinion with civility. Not to derail my constructive ideas with childish trolling in the first few replies.

Please note that as this game is in alpha, it may be necessary to gather on more than one occasion, to test new weapons, optics, or originals that have been altered by the developers.

Why? Because when I am running from town to town, finding my basic gear, the last thing I want is to listen to a non-stop stream of random zombie grunts, hear a soda can open or food crunch every time a player eats/drinks, or press "1" to pull out my axe, and have nothing happen. Press it again, wait.....nothing. Press it a third time, I pull out my axe, then put it away again. NONE of these things happen when I play on low pop servers. I don't like avoiding other players while im getting ready for my hunting trips, but I don't like the above mentioned even more. I only join high pops when I go hunting, because, that's where the prey is. And if I want to have a chance at finding some, I guess I have to put up with the above issues...

something I would LOVE to be able to do? print out a physical map of chernarus. Maybe at a print shop, so it could be big. Then, using that, create a sort of field of fire map, with ranges marked out in a radius, which would make an excellent quick reference while playing....

Im all for high population servers. I PREFER that I play with a lot of players, because it increases the chances of interaction, wheather its a KOSer, someone who wants to perform medical experiments involving bleach, a friend, a nemesis, or someone who's only desire is to impart to me the great wisdom of the wiggles.] But until the desynching and latency problems inherent with high pop servers go away, I will continue to play low pop...unless I am hunting. Because lets face it, if I want to hunt, Im probably not going to find the only other person in the server somewhere within a 100/sq kilometer map.

Southpaw. I like you. Id like to go hunting with you someday... And jonesy, don't take this the wrong way, but when I say "unsporting", what I MEAN is that you are abusing a game mechanic. By LEAVING, then hoping servers, and then Infiltrating back in, I run the risk that my prey will see me on the way in. I have to be careful not to give myself away as I reach my hide. And, on the same hand, another player in the area, who is being sneaky, checking his corners, etc., has a chance to see me, and is rewarded for playing the game smart. But if, instead, I just hop right in at the hide, that same player, who might have checked that spot moments ago, is now at an unfair disadvantage... Do you get my meaning? Im all for putting one's self in the more advantageous position. That's how you win. But not by abusing a mechanic in a manner that gives you an unfair and unrealistic advantage. I don't mean to offend you man, but in my opinion, this is only maybe one step above ghosting...

I know, right? I feel dirty too.... But I just cant FING STAND constantly listening to zombies half-grunting non stop, or hear the "PSHKT!" every time a player pops a soda. And ESPECIALLY trying to pull out a weapon. What if I need it RIGHT NOW! No, not 15 seconds from now, NOW! Oh yeah, and placing items on the ground, and waiting for them to appear. Once, as a fresh spawn I got whacked by a zed. I killed it but I was bleeding, so I put my shirt on the ground to tear it into some impromptu bandages.....and I bled to death waiting for it to appear.

sorry jonesy, but unless you LEAVE the location first, then join your "hunting grounds" (server) and infiltrate back in, its unsporting....

I like to hunt. Prefer the moisin with PU or long range scope. The other day I, like any good hunter, scouted the territory before hand by joining an empty server, and looked around for a good hide to use. Found one, popped a few zeds from it to find my range, and left the area before logging out. Logged into a high pop server, and infiltrated my way back in to the area (didn't just server hop into the spot. that would be un-sporting), made it to my hide without incident. Waited patiently for my prey. After about 30 minutes, I saw him pass by beneath my hide. He wasn't no rabbit either. This guy was big game. Fully kitted. I waited until he had run farther down away from me, and at about 300 meters, took the shot. Clean kill. The beast didn't suffer....

This is all assuming that they haven't already thought of this themselves, of course. So, what if player owned bases (specifically underground) could not be made ANYWHERE, but rather could ONLY be made at specific locations? Say you are wandering around in the woods, when you find a wooden panel on the ground (or some other marker indicating a dig spot). You start digging, and BOOM! You have your underground player base, right? But I can here you saying it... "But Kage, if there were only specific locations to make a base, then bandits could just camp those locations, and would kill me the moment I arrived/exited!" AND you'd be right. They definitely WOULD do that, wouldn't they, those damn scum........DONT EVEN TRY TO DENY IT YOU BAMBI KILLING BASTARD!!! LOL. sorry. I got nothing against bandits. They add one more element of survival to the game. And I like to hunt myself, so I cant judge... But I digress....so how to prevent bandits camping the known locations of player bases (since you MUST build them on specific spots)? Make it so that there are, oh, I don't know, 500 possible build sites. Maybe have 4 or 5 different varieties on the layout of the underground bases. Hell, some of them could even be INSIDE houses (dig under the floorboards?) With so many locations to choose from, a bandit wouldn't bother with the odds of camping one specific base spot. Not when he will have FAR better chances of finding prey at one of the hotspots...UNLESS he followed you to your base. In which case, shame on you. This way, bases can be on the hive, exist on EVERY SERVER, prevent the likelihood of two players on one server (40 max) just HAPPENING to have the same base, AND arrive at the same time, AND prevent dirty campers from camping at your camp site. AND since you (devs) can control the locations where bases can be built, you can prevent someone from using an underground base as an exploit (like allowing a player to build a base in the center of NWAF). Thoughts???? ? ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Ok, so hows this? First, I changed my steam profile name to "CobraCommander" (was AMAZED that it wasn't already taken..) Logged in, found a guy (full mil cammo, moisin, helmet and gas mask) in one of the barracks at bolota, cornered him, and this is what happened: (from this point, it helps if you imagine me speaking in the same voice as the 1980's Cobra Commander from "GI JOE". I do an EXCELLENT impression. no joke. Its REALLY good.) GUY: "friendlyfriendly don't shoot!" ME: "I AM COBRA COMMANDER!!! YOU WILL OBEY ME! SURRENDER EEE-MEDIATELY, OR DIE!!!" GUY: *puts hands up "ok man. what do you want?" ME: "I DEEEMAND THAT YOU TELL ME OF THE JOE'S PLANST TO STOP ME AND MY WEATHER MODULATOR!!! SPEAK, WORM!" GUY: "what? look man im friendly, don't shoot me, ok? maybe we can" ME: "SssssSILENCE, WORM!!!! TELL ME NOOOOW!!! WHAT ARE THE JOE'S PLANS TO STOP ME AND MY WEATHER MODULATOR!!" GUY: "uhhh....I don't know anything about your weather match-u-bator man...." ME: "FOOOL!!! ITS MODULATOR!!! I suspect he was a bandit, and was trying to buy time for his buddy to come help him. My killing him forced his buddy to act before he was ready, but he missed (that's what I SUSPECT. don't know for sure). I ran up to his corpse, and saw that he had handcuffs, several opened cans of food, a full bag of blood, 4 or 5 medkits, and a moisin and some ammo. Took his bayonet, and ammo (didn't need anything else he had), and made a clean escape. SO: how'd I do????

I tried, man. I REALLY did. I had an idea, decided I was going to get kitted out, then start building "care packages". Put a backpack loaded with food and water inside MY backpack, then went to Kamyshovo and waited. I saw a fresh spawn show up, so I ran down the hill and caught up to him as he was getting a drink at the well. Scared the shit out of him, but was easily able to calm him down. Gave him the backpack, told him "good luck brother. I recommend getting off the coast, that's where all the bandits hang out." His reply? "Well Im just trying to get to balota and gear up. Thanks again man!" I facepalmed (still think this needs to be an ingame gesture). I gave him a pack, food and water. He already had a wood splitter....he had EVERYTHING he needed to go north. Instead, he went to balota to "gear up", and since it was a high pop server, probably made it there, found it picked clean, then got captured, my food and water stolen, and bleach sprayed in every orifice. The next guy I gave a storage box full of food and water, took it, put it in his hands, and tried to kill me with it. I killed him and took my stuff back. Don't get me wrong, I am all for more roleplay, but I don't see it happening. Not with the game still in alpha, for one. But until there is more to do, I will play the PvE role of surviving long enough to be "kitted out", and once that is done, I am going hunting. When there is more to do ingame, I will do it. till then, however... EDIT: I will, however, also say that I, for one, ONLY hunt big game. Rabbits and deer don't interest me. I go for the elk, bears, cougars and mountain lions. You get the idea...

I am a US Marine, and although I was not Infantry, I WAS a 3rd award rifle expert (that means that I qual'ed expert 3 times in a row. FIVE times overall tho). I could, at my peak in the Marines, EASILLY land 10 out of 10 shots in the black at 500 meters, with iron sights, any day of the week, wind, rain, and shine. I don't know what it is, but something about me understands how to shoot this weapon effectively like its intuition. I may not be a l33t skillzorz ultra sniper, able to put all ten of those rounds through the same shot hole, but I DO know how to use it effectively. SO, it goes without saying that if I KNOW a thing, then I SHOULD be able to teach a thing... My friend Nate, who had never in his life fired a weapon (other than a 22. when he was like, 12), took everything I taught him and showed him, put my Dad's Bushmaster AR in his shoulder, and, from the standing, put 30 rounds down range. All of his shots hit the target (100 meters). It wasn't a very tight grouping, but all of them were there. It is NOT hard to shoot an M16 style AR, be it the m16a2, a4, M4, or a bushmaster, they are all essentially ("") the same. One the basic fundamentals and principles are explained, any decent shooter can use these things effectively short range. With little to no practice, hitting a target 50, 100, or even 200 meters away is NOT difficult. With some practice and understanding of how to use the iron sights elevation and windage knobs properly, 300 and 400 meters is NOT difficult. At 500 meters, prone, with a little experience and understanding of fundamentals, consistently hitting your target is moderately easy with a little patience. Pros can hit center mass easily at 600. I have used BOTH the M4 and the Moisin in the standalone, and I can say, that the accuracy of the M4 at 50 meters makes me think that my character is an 8 year old, scrawny little chode that bruises easily and has NEVER held a weapon in his life, AND thinks that the weapon will shoot more accurately if held sideways... I AM TELLING ALL OF YOU, AGREE OR DISAGREE, NO GROWN ADULT, MALE OR FEMAL, WOULD SHOULDER THAT WEAPON AND NOT BE ABLE TO HIT A TARGET 20 FEET AWAY, RESTED AND IN A CROUCHED POSITION. Yet, in game, I have done the same, and missed 5 times in a row... Also: ALPHA....

^agreed. Adding to my other ideas then: Hypothetically, if I follow another player to his base, and see which one he goes into, I can wait for him to leave, then go in, loot what I want and burn the rest to the (under) ground. His own fault for not being smart enough to watch his back.
