Find you a wood splitter, heft that thing up, and tell me that that thing, which is basically a SLEDGE HAMMER with a blunt blade on one end would do any less damage to a human body than a fire axe.... I mean really? If I were to take my wood splitter and hit someone in the head, Id break their skull and their neck in one good swing. Limbs? shattered. Chest? would leave a HOLE. Not a deep cut, but a deep HOLE several inches wide. I don't even want to IMAGINE it. Even though I just did a moment ago. And again just now.

Water wells that don't tell me im drinking from a pond... Canteens not labeled as "water bottles"... Canteens, Canteen pouches, and Canteen cups as separate items that are found and "crafted" into a single item. Canteen: the container itself, takes up two inventory slots. Canteen cup: can be used to boil and purify water over a portable stove. By itself takes up one inventory slot. Slips onto the bottom of the Canteen itself, so that together they still take up two inventory slots. Canteen Pouch: can hold both the canteen and cup, and in addition, has an external pouch to hold purification tablet, all combined to take up only two inventory slots. And lastly, a military equipment belt, which the canteen pouch and all items can be attached to, freeing up those 2 slots in your inventory for other things.

Ok, I glanced through most of this thread, and if I missed someone saying what I am about to say, I apologize for reiterating it. But I DIDNT see anyone say anything like this, and I feel it needs to be said: If a streamer is using hacks/scripts, shame on him. He deserves whatever he gets. That being said.... Weather or not you like a streamer, or if you hate his channel, or are annoyed by the sound of their voice is IRELEVANT. If you "stream snipe", YOU are no better than any hacker/script kiddie out there, and do not deserve the pedestal you stand on. Why? Because you are using a live broadcast to acquire foreknowledge of another player's location, and are USING that knowledge to gain an unfair advantage, enabling you to pick an optimum angle of approach and opportunity to kill them. Explain to me how, other than the lack of an actual script or other 3rd party software, this is ANY different than a radar/ESP hack? You are using an out-of-game source of intel to give you an unfair advantage. You can't pin this on the streamer. At all. If they are hacking, by all means, I say. Kill the cheating bastards. But if they are just playing the game, you cant justify this in ANY way. "I don't like streamers" = NO JUSTIFICATION. Don't watch them then. "I don't like THIS PARTICULAR streamer" = NO JUSTIFICATION. Again, don't watch it. His/her life is none of your business. "They are doing a live broadcast, telling everyone where they are, they had it coming!" = STILL NO JUSTIFICATION. You are cheating. You call the other guy a faggot for using a hack (or script, whatever) to teleport you into the ocean, yet what were YOU doing? This time it happened after a server restart. I backed out to tilte screen (and there I see my guy, with all his stuff...), I pick another server, and BOOM! on the coast with nothing. I hadn't even finished outfitting the guy yet! Didn't even have a gun! Had been playing him for several hours, and now its back to square one, before I had even FINISHED square one. Whats more, is that when I quit the server and got back to the title screen, I see that my default character has changed to a black guy in blue jeans and a white t-shirt. Not only did my character data get wiped, but my default too? Im starting to think that there is no point in playing right now. Character data wipes, empty servers (or full ones with massive desynch issues and constant zombie grunts and soda cans over global comms). I know; alpha. Believe me I know. but....gerrrrr...

I really like AgentNeo's idea of a stat tracker, either in game or as a 3rd party service. Don't care about "achievements" too much, per se, but THAT? THAT would be a nice novelty to have.

improvised explosives made from flares, fuel canisters, and duct tape? YES. All for it. running from military loot spawn to military loot spawn to find tons of M-67 Comp. B fragmentation devices just lying around inside barracks buildings? No. I find THAT unimerssive and unrealistic. I have lived in a barracks before. I happen to know that you wouldn't find weapons just lying about. Certainly not in garrison. Probably not even in a combat area either. Soldiers don't just leave that stuff lying around. In garrison, its ALL (guns, ammo, EVERYTHING) locked up tight in a box, which is locked up tight in a storage locker, which is locked, inside a room of THICK concrete walls, probably underground (although not always), which is accessed via a large, heavy steel door, which is locked. Tight. And that room itself is going to be inside a heavily secured building, also locked, surrounded by a fence with razor wire, and a locked gate. Guarded by MP's and security cameras. All of which is located somewhere deep inside the base, behind a secured perimeter and controlled entry points. In a combat zone, its slightly different, with soldiers, marines, or whatever, carrying the weapons and ammo they have been issued, and any explosives like grenades, or launchers, locked up in a heavily guarded armory, to be issued out as needed for missions and returned after if not used. This stuff should NOT be so damned easy to find, just lying around everywhere at military locations as if everyone there INSTANTLY dropped dead, the apocalypse happening totally without transition...

Hmmm. As a separate, 3rd party website idea, I don't think it will take off too well. I doubt (could be wrong) that most of the veteran DayZ community would care much about achievements. I know that I don't. And unless it is a mechanic built into the game itself, I don't see how players could PROVE they have met certain requirements, without the possibility of fraudulent claims. But that said, I see no reason why you shouldn't TRY. I wish you luck. That said, I don't think that running from A to B should be an achievement idea. Its kind of the core element of the game.... Some things that might be "achievement worthy", IMO? Long range kill shots. A large number of zombies killed in one character life. Visiting a large number of locations in one life (explorer?). Staying alive for a long time. Some sort of medical assistance achievement. Giving a lot of supplies to bambis. TAKING a lot of supplies from bambis. That's all I got for now.

Also, just to be clear, losing my gear isn't what is frustrating me. I've had a 3 day old character die from bandits, and another one get lost to clipping through the 2nd story wall of an office building. No problem, the adventure begins anew. But lately, I cant even get an "adventure" started, without getting wiped or killed by a bug (bandits are another thing. that, IMO, is a "legitmate" death caused by something that is an intended element of the game). This may not make sense, but I'm not bothered that I lost my fully kitted character, I'm bothered by the fact that I DIDNT. No adventures, no roleplaying, no chance to explore, find bugs to report, test game mechanics, and then discuss them or ways to improve them. And when I do? I get trolls attempting to derail my topics. If the idea isn't popular, that's fine. Its not all about what "I" want. But do I get constructive criticism? No. I get trolls.

and one other thing. Minor little detail I should just go ahead and ask about: Why the HELL doesn't the quote feature work? I see other people quoting other posts, but it doesn't work for me. The button just opens the text window, and I type, and post, and no quote.

Blacklable, you may be right, I need to chill a bit. It IS alpha and all. I just cant help feeling a little frustrated. I want to play this thing. Whats more, I EVEN want to test some things, do a little experimentation. But im finding it difficult to even do that, because in game, I get killed by bandits (which is fine, nothing against them) bugs, or character wipes. And I cant be constructive HERE, because I get instantly derailed by trolls, or people who whine about having seen this before (seriously, why do you CARE?). Cant be constructive in the forums. Cant be constructive OR have fun in game.

I have made constructive threads, proposed ideas, engaged in useful discussion. If you have a problem with what I have to say, then why don't YOU make some constructive ideas or suggestions.

I didn't change the defaults. I logged in, played for about an hour. The server shut down (no message received for "x" seconds), so I backed out to title screen. There, I see my character, as he just was, clothing, axe, backpack, helmet, etc. I pick another server, and log in. Fresh spawn on the coast. Out of frustration, I imeadiately quit back to title screen, and there I see a NEW default character. My old default was a white guy, beige shirt, blue jeans. THIS guy is black, white t-shirt, blue jeans.

Amazing. I find it absolutely F-ING AMAZING! I make a well thought out thread proposing an idea and a fun way to implement some experimentation, and what happens? It gets attacked by fucking trolls with less than 30 posts in this forum within MINUTES. I make another thread about a legitimate game issue, which IS a rehashing of a known issue, ill admit, but should still be brought to attention, and I get people trying to shut it down because "Ive already seen this thread somewhere". So what I am learning here, is that unless I am complaining about KoSers, Bragging about KoSing, or talking about combat logging, ghosters, or server hoppers, I will either: A: get attacked by trolls B: get attacked by people complaining that they have seen this thread before.
