Whats so bad about combat logging? I don't understand all the hate.... Its just another honorable military profession. Sure, its not the god almighty blessed INFANTRY, but where would they be without combat loggers? without combat loggers, the combat engineers would have no lumber to use to build bridges the infantry uses to cross rivers. Without lumber, no barracks buildings. No construction PERIOD. The military NEEDS brave men and women willing to risk their lives to enter the forests under fire and bring back felled trees...

THIS, however, is totally ok to be pissed about. spawn camping is low. Is it allowed? yes? within the rules of the game? yes. An absolutely DOUCHEY way to play the game? Most certainly.

I did it extensively when I first got the game. Learned where loot spawns, where it doesn't, what spawns where and with what frequency. NEVER used any of the gear I found to kill other players, and more often than not, died while doing it, usually due to clipping through the walls on the 50th floor to fall to my death (also a valuable learning experience). In THAT circumstance: a minor sin. But if you use any of the equipment or weapons you find in any kind of player interaction, you are utilizing an exploit to gain an un-intended advantage. In essence? CHEATING. Having said my piece, I leave this thread to the inevitable flame war it is sure to become. EDIT: It could be said that having learned where everything spawns by server hoping was utilizing an exploit to gain an unfair advantage over others. IN ESSENCE? CHEATING. I cant deny it. I wont. But to be fair, I never used the stuff I found in any kind of interaction with others. AND I was trying to learn more about a game I knew little about. For example, I knew almost imeadiately that there is no point in gathering shot gun shells. Or wood. Or matches. Or wrenches, hammers, and pliers. or defibs. or cooking stoves. Or cooking pots..... anyway. goodnight. im tire.

OP, I suspect you are mistaken. I had one character that was alive for several days. In the span of those days, I found 4 or 5 testers, and I used them all. Across different servers, different log ins, and different days, with the same character, I consistently got a message informing me that my blood type was o+, every single time. My input. You may be wrong. You may be right. Either way, we are all doomed....

I predict that you will have that equipment for a very short period. IV kit is useless without another player. Syringe is useless without an injection vial, which itself is only useful if you become sick. Rags are no better or worse than bandages. Not really what I would call "STACKED". And lastly, some real advice: DayZ is brutal. So brutal that it is one of only TWO games (the other being EVE online) that has given me an ACTUAL adrenaline rush, a pounding heart, and sense of fear, all at once. A lack of PVP would eliminate this feeling entirely for me. But hey! Play HOWEVER you want man. I fully encourage anyone to play in any manner they wish, so long as they don't mind me doing EXACTLY the same....WHICH may or may not entail shooting your dumb ass from 400 meters away because you were a dumb ass and stood out in the open. THIS IS A PVP AS WELL AS PVE GAME. Get used to it, or wait until private hives are out, and play on a carebear server, where everyone can hold hands around the campfire and sing songs, and peacefully harvest beans from the local market, and gather endless amounts of milspec gear that will never be used, aaaaaand get killed when a troll joins the server. Don't worry, it will happen. I am SO sick of people who want to dictate how I play this game. Sure, you COULD say I was forcing my playstyle on you when I shoot you, but that would only apply in a private hive where such rules could be enforced. CURRENTLY no such rules are allowed, and all players on all PUBLIC servers are playing a game that involves PVP as well as PVE. Running along the coast, low pop server (about 6 or 7 people). Just running about. Not really anything I am trying to do, or anywhere I am trying to go. Just kinda going from a to b, except I don't really know where "b" is... When suddenly, I notice about 100 feet (not meters) in front of me is a female (character model) player running straight at me. Im pretty alert when travelling, even on low pop servers. Even if there is only one other player. Hell, even if im the ONLY player, I still keep an eye out. You never know when someone will log in. So when I SUDDENLY see this woman just 100 feet away, my knee jerk reaction was that she was waiting in ambush. At first glance, I see a moto helmet and a fire axe on her back, cant make out anything in her hands (like a pistol?). So I stop, strafe left a few feet, and pull my pistol out and up, but hold off on the ADS. She didn't stop running, and didn't change course. She continued to run straight ahead. I fired a warning shot, and she didn't stop. In fact, NOW she had changed course, altering to run right at me after I had stepped to the left slightly. By now she was about 10 to 15 feet away, running right at me, ignoring my warning shot, so I let her have it, and dropped her. Later inspection revealed that she had a single can of tuna, a backpack, moto helmet, and fire axe. Nothing else other than her clothes, all ruined from the shooting. What were her intentions? Why did she alter course and run RIGHT AT ME after a warning shot? Her only weapon, the axe, was on her back. And in the heat of the moment, I didn't have time to check her hands to see if there was a magnum in them. I will never know. What I DO know is that I killed her because I thought she might be a threat. Sorry to send you back to the coast so soon, but thats the way of things, I guess. Not ten minutes later I had continued on my way, when I encountered ANOTHER female character, this one was black, and had nothing (that I could see) but a shovel. I pulled my pistol up and out, and she put her shovel away, and put her hands up. I cautiously approached, and asked if she wanted some food. Her response was to put her hands down, and run off to my side, and stop and turn to look at me. Clearly, she wanted to go her way, so I let her and continued on mine. The lesson? When you see a fully milspec kitted special forces looking mother ******, don't run right at him and be surprised if he responds defensively. If he sees YOU first, and doesn't immediately cap you, he probably wont. The correct response is to either surrender, or run AWAY, either way indicating to said mother ****** that you are not a threat, and intend to stay that way. Of course, be aware that surrendering may result in your being handcuffed and robbed/bleach sprayed in your ears. But that is why the option of running away exists. Of course, if he CHASES you, well then I doubt its because he wants to share a can of beans... now that I think about it, you cant know for sure what that mother ******'s intentions are, so succumbing to an all out YOLO charge and hoping for the best might result in a few minor injuries and a free full millspec kit.... Sorry. I guess there really isn't a lesson to learn here...

But if, like in the above circumstance, the shooter is still a good 50 feet away from you, stepping out of your path, and fires only one shot, without aiming directly at you, and without any kind of follow up, CLEARLY holding off on any further shooting as you continue to approach to within 15 feet? Had I been in the young ladies' shoes, I would have interpreted it as a sign that the shooter did not WANT to kill me, but rather wanted me to go away, or surrender. But again, surrender may have resulted in my being cuffed, robbed, and bleached to a sparkly, disinfected clean.... Such a chaotic world we live in...

defibs functionality and cooking of any sort, including rice, are not yet implemented in the game. Therefore I refuse to team up with you. Also, accuracy with any weapon other than a moisin (and even then), is up for severe speculation. EDIT: I also hate Skype. But good luck in your search for a fellow survivor friend. who wants to live forever? Im actually really bored with my current character. I think im gonna do something really stupid, and try to interact with other players when I get a chance. Which will play out something like this: Step 1: find other player/s. proceed accordingly to step 2 or 3. Step 2. Interaction will occur, and fun will be had. Repeat step 1. Step 3. Interaction will be dispensed at muzzle velocity, and fun will be had. If dead, proceed to step 4. If alive, repeat step 1. Step 4. Spawn at coast and commence trolling ideas. Fun to be had.
