Indeed. But seriously? I find it irritating as well. Im sick to death of hearing half formed zombie grunts, soda cans opening, and crunching noises every 5 seconds on hi pop servers. THIS. THIS IS WHY.... THIS IS WHY I PLAY EXCLUSIVELY ON LOW POP SERVERS. I HATE that there aren't many people around to interact with (weather that's talking or interaction that moves at muzzle velocity), but I hate THAT even more. I know, its alpha. I fully grasp that concept. I just hope they find a way to fix it soon...

Well, thanks OP. You've gone and done it now.... At the same exact instant that you made THAT ^ post, hell froze over, pigs learned to fly, and the apocalypse started.... All because you had to go and see reason, and be mature. THANKS.

Hatchet as an alternative to axes (idea proposal: discuss)
crazykage replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
well, it seems that my understanding of the difference between a "wood splitter" and a "splitting maul" was incorrect.... But regardless, it seems that thus far the general opinion is that the game should, at some point, include a hatchet as an alternative melee weapon. AND thus far, nobody seems to have any issues with my proposal on how it should function and be implemented as an ingame item. Anybody else? -
Lost everything after getting scared off heavy breathing
crazykage replied to MadMedic (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
soooo. You heard heavy breathing and then what? Did you log? If so, this is the first time I have heard of PRE-combat logging. Or did the mouth breather kill you, and THATS how you lost everything? -
Hatchet as an alternative to axes (idea proposal: discuss)
crazykage replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Then maybe make it a common item, but the trade off of enabling one to carry two long barreled guns is that it takes 3 hits on a zombie to kill it (lighter weapon maybe also means it can be swung faster?)? -
This is the single greatest DayZ troll I have EVER seen. Punching rocks... run faster without pants.... AND THE BANDITS>>>> BEANS sir. For the lolz you have given me I give you beans....

How? Depending on the caliber, you WONT die instantly. You will bleed out. Even a shot to the head is not INSTANTANEOUS death. UNCONSCIOUSNESS? yes. Unless the bullet is so big it just takes your head OFF or otherwise completely obliterates your brain housing group, you will still need to bleed out. Unless, of course, you get shot in that little sweet spot just above the base of the spine. Right in the madula (spelling?). THAT will drop you like a sack of bricks into a black hole...

And so now you resort to insulting me. WE KNOW HACKS ARE POSSIBLE! WE DONT NEED YOU TO POST VIDEOS OF THEM, TO KNOW THAT, WHILE YOU DELIBERATELY OR INADEVERANTLY ADVERTISE THEM. Good bye and good riddance. Remove the SECOND video you posted, and don't let the door hit you on your way out. "I just want people to see that it is possible..." No shit. There are hacks in EVERY game. You haven't told us anything we don't already know. You have only promoted the hack itself. well done.
-
and then you put in a NEW video. WHY? Just when I thought this thread was evolving from a hack complaint/advert, into a debate about how the game is being developed in relation to hacks, you do this. STOP ADVERTISING HACKS. Its one thing to talk about what happened and why you think it was a hack, or even to BITCH about it. Its another entirely to repeatedly post advert videos about them, and help promote them, either deliberately (what I am now suspecting is the op's objective) or not.
-
This 100%. In addition, take solace in the fact that every time the cycle of "hack released, Hack detected, time is given to let hackers get comfortable, mass ban, repeat" runs through, the hackers who get perma banned have to re purchase both the game, AND the updated hack if they wish to continue hacking. So while that poor kid is crying, because he is a kid, and because he is being unfairly bullied, the hacker is having a hole opened up inside is wallet, which is so small and dense that not even pennies can escape its pull.

sukka, you need to edit your reply to remove the video from your quote of the OP. OP already removed it from his post. But you inadvertently brought it back by quoting him.

Hatchet as an alternative to axes (idea proposal: discuss)
crazykage replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
I could see this being done with the fire axe, yes. And then it would function like a hatchet. But the wood splitter? No. You really NEED that longer handle to use it efficiently IRL. I have a wood splitter at my house. It is basically a sledge hammer with a dull, steeply beveled blade. Without the long handle, you would just have a very heavy hammer that would easily slip out of your hands. In addition, the long handle is what enables you to swing that thing with enough force to get that steeply beveled blade to actually do its job; splitting logs. without it, you would still be able to hurt someone, but not as easily. Basically what I am saying is that without the long handle, it becomes a poorly balanced and clumsy weapon. -
I bet those guys that make this stuff are loving the free advertising you are providing them. EDIT: OP removed video link. Smartest thing he has done in this thread. (OP gets shot in the middle of the night. It must be hax...)

Since the last thread where I made this comment got its discussion derailed by a troll, Ill leave this here in the hopes of further intelligent debate: Personally, I think vehicles should either be non existent, extremely rare, or so complex as to require a large amount of team effort (several people working together, not just 2 or three). I think they just make the game too easy. You don't have to "travel" anymore. No need to plan your route, worry about food or water for the trip (currently not a huge concern, but "alpha"),infiltrate, observe, loot, then leave, retreat to the tree line, and wipe the sweat off your brow. Now, we can just hop in the sedan and drive real fast down the road. Stop at the first town we happen to see. All the doors closed? Good. Loot loot loot. Drop everything into the trunk. Now on to the next...Which leads to the problem that entire servers will end up looted dry in a matter of an hour or two by 2 guys and a truck. Honestly, I would rather there not be any vehicles. Bicycles, I think, would not be too bad. But that's where I draw the line. Thoughts?

Crazykage's 6 step survival guied for newbs (how to not get KoSed).
crazykage posted a topic in General Discussion
I made this in another thread, then decided that it was so good, it should have its own thread. So here. DISCLAIMER: If you already know how to find Bashnya with your eyes closed while bleeding and on an empty stomach, you don't need to read this. This is my general game plan as a fresh spawn. I have refined it to the point of near perfection, due to the number of times I have died (only twice to a player, oddly enough). Try to follow it to the best of your ability. Improvise, adapt, and overcome whenever necessary, as nothing ever works out exactly as planned. Follow these easy steps: 1. The instant you gain control of your character, crouch and visually scan the area. You are looking for several things. The first is any immediate threats (zombies or other players). Next you need to identify (through experience) your spawn location. Once you know the town or area you are in, proceed immediately to the nearest water source and drink until you are full. On the way, keep an eye out for open doors, as these indicate that either a player is nearby, or that the place is already looted. In addition, keep an eye out for particular buildings that are known to have good loot (pubs, piano houses, etc). If you can, find a food item or two. Once you have drunk your fill and have a food item, its time to proceed to step 2. 2. LEAVE ASAP. DO NOT stay here, it is dangerous. From wherever you are, your next step is to find a melee weapon. Again, through experience, try to find the nearest structures that commonly spawn axes (other melee weapons are just about useless. But even a shovel is better than your bare hands). Try to pick a location that is off the beaten path if your are familiar enough with the terrain. If none is available or known, find what you can. Once you manage to find one, step 3. 3. Now, you need to get off the coast and proceed inland. Find an obscure town down the road a few miles (stay away from military loot zones). Loot these towns for everything they are worth, but at all times keep your head on a swivel. Eventually, by looting these small towns, you will get lucky and find better gear, and even a gun. Once you have a gun, proceed to step 4. 4. continue to loot small towns until you have, at minimum, the following: A gun and ammo. A backpack. Either a hunting, or a green one of the large variety (hunting pack is preferred for its relatively large storage space compared to its color and low profile). A helmet (moto or military). A pair of gloves. A pair of boots (civ. or military). A fire axe (no substitute. keep looking until you have one). A better shirt (minimum of 4 slots) A pair of cargo pants. A source of bandages (torn shirts, or those found in medic pouches). Do NOT stockpile your food OR your sodas. Eat/drink them as soon as you have a "safe" spot to do so. The added energy boost will keep you from needing to eat/drink again for some time, and the more energy you get from food and sodas, the closer you will get to healthy status. Additionally, unconsumed food and sodas take up inventory space, when they SHOULD be taking up stomach space. EAT/DRINK THEM. Once you have this minimum kit, its time to go to step 5. 5. Head to NWAF. Once you get there, you will need to BYPASS the entire place. Do not run through it, but around it. Head all the way to the back until you see the tents city. Near it is a road. Follow this road up a hill and to a small complex. Scout it out carefully. If it is unoccupied (no open doors or gates, presence of zombies), head in and clear it out of zeds and loot. There is also a well inside the complex, so drink your fill. Here you will likely find one or more items that would be considered an improvement over whatever you already have. From this compound, head back down to the airfield, and, if you are feeling brave, loot as much as you can. As ALWAYS, your head should be on a swivel. If you even ONCE see a door that is opened on a major loot building, LEAVE the airfield. At this point there is only one more step. 6. SURVIVE. Do whatever you want. At this point you could be said to be fairly well kitted. You may not have a matching set of TTsKO clothes, 4 storage boxes, a fully stocked ammo box, 2 pistols and a fully outfitted M4, but you don't NEED all that to survive an encounter with another player (although they certaintly help). Survive long enough, and you WILL look like that. Then the boredom sets in. In any survival situation, boredom can be a dangerous enemy. To alleviate the boredom, go hunting. And no, I don't mean for the rabbits that don't die. Pursue more dangerous, predatory prey. This is essentially how I play the game and survive. It is a modular concept, in that you can add or take away as necessary to suit your style of play. It can also be done with a friend. Follow these rules (in addition to whatever changes suit your whims), and you will RARELY get KoSed. AND you wont have to complain about it in the forums. Good luck. -
As I said: It isn't hard.
-
.... yeah. really. It isn't hard. Apply fundamentals of marksmanship and properly adjust sight apertures with a well BZOed weapon, and anyone can do it. Thus, the M4 should be much more accurate than it is currently.

Bliss, one thing to remember is to NEVER get attached to your gear. You WILL lose it. In 5 minutes, or 5 days, it WILL be gone. To another player, a zombie, or by clipping through the wall of the 3rd floor of an office building. Also, this is my general game plan as a fresh spawn. I laugh when people suggest decreasing the range of the M4. If anything, it needs to be made MORE accurate. It SHOULD be accurate out to 500m. When I was in the USMC, I went to the range for yearly rifle qualification, and regularly placed 10 out of 10 shots center mass on target at the 500 yard line. With iron sights, on a windy day, rain or shine. Also, KoS whine thread....
