"CQ CQ CQ DE C1. GOTO 0" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morse_code_abbreviations Excellent work! undoubtedly the "go to 0" was to be followed by more numbers, probably coordinates. Are you interested in joining the official investigation team on steam? -
JUST last night something like this happened to me. I joined a server, but could not move any items in my inventory, use any item, or place them in my hands. I also could not use any of the hand gestures. I checked, and according to the player list, I and the one other person in the server had zero ping, and zero bandwidth, and zero desynch. The only thing I could do was move around. I was in the middle of nowhere in the trees, ran to a cluster of bushes, crouched down, and alt tabbed to check the dayzdb map. When I came back less than 20 seconds later, I was unconscious and bleeding. I eventually died.

is it ruined or badly damaged? I had one that was badly damaged, and it wouldn't work. try to find one that is worn or pristine.

I have now looked into this video quite a bit, and here are my conclusions thus far: At about 1.22 in the video, listening closely, I can hear what appears to be an air raid or other emergency broadcast siren behind the morse code. Turn up the volume and listen closely. The morse code is playing at a fairly high RPM, making it difficult to manually translate using a morse code cheat sheat. Whoever is responsible did not want to make it easy to decipher. In addition, as previously stated, the broadcast also contains a binary transmission, which will likely produce an image if the right software is used. This, even more so than the ENS (elektro number station) broadcast, is highly elaborate, and is not something your average player would know how to produce. It would take time, effort, research, and knowledge that most people do not have the expertise and equipment to produce. Not impossible, but as I said before about the ENS, an awful lot of effort for a simple prank on the off chance that someone MIGHT be listening. I still find it more likely that this and the ENS is an artifact created by the game developers. Something they left for us to find. And something that would take a community effort to decipher. The only big reason that I am still not 100% sure is that these or other broadcasts have not been detected on more than 2 different servers. We need to be checking more servers than just the "Civil Warriors" server (not very civil, as ive been killed twice there, lol). To all those that have posted recorded evidence, please message me with your steam profile name, so I can invite you to the official steam investigation group. There you can fill out a STRIP report and information can be organized for easier access and analysis, and for posterity. After that, you are of course welcome to stay with the group and continue to help the investigation if you desire. Also, I would ask that those involved in the hunt and investigation of the radio towers also join us, as the information may very well be relevant to the investigation. -

Thanks Rydekk, but I have to say a few things as well... "I" created the group, so it is "mine", however I want to emphasize that although there are some BASIC rules that will be enforced, and although myself and Rydekk maintain administrative authority within the group, we (myself and rydekk) and any other "LEADERS" that may be created serve ONLY as administrators and rule enforcers. At no time will we or any other "leader" (admin) be allowed to issue orders or demands to other members. At this table, which is round, we are all equals. So come on in, and let us coordinate and communicate our way to the truth! EDIT: The rules I spoke of. Nothing unreasonable. Rules and Regulations We are all here to have fun. Follow these simple rules, and we will all get along. !: No leader or officer of the group can GIVE ORDERS to other members. They are only administrators. We are all equals here. 2. Be courteous and respectfull to fellow members. This is an adult group, therefore adult language should be expected. However, racial, homosexual, or religous slurs and insults will NOT be tollerated. 3. NO TROLLS. If you are working with another member on an investigation, you may not kill them for the lulz. This is a banable offense. You CAN however take a break from your investigative efforts at any time, at which time you and everyone else is fair game. However, using group comms or forums to gain intel on the wearabouts and activities of members to kill, maim, troll, or otherwise sabotage them, is a bannable offense. 4. Have fun. THESE RULES MAY BE UPDATED, CHANGED, IMPROVED, OR ADDED TO AT ANY TIME AS NEED REQUIRES. IF SO, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED TO CHECK THEM. There are no requirements or expectations on memeber play time or presence. Play when you can, when you feel like it, and if you feel like doing it with us. At no time will any member be kicked due to inactivity. -

lets set down some basic ground rules for the investigation: If you manage to detect a signal: At all times, exercise caution. You cant help the investigation if you are dead (at least, until you gear up again). Every action you take will be a risk. Those who are able to record should be especially careful, as crucial information could be lost if you die. STEP 1: STOP and press "P" and take a screenshot of the player list if you are not recording. If you are recording, simply press "P" to show the list in the video. STEP 2: If you are recording, proceed to move towards the signal until you can hear the broadcast clearly and there is less static. Then STOP in the safest place you can quickly find, and record the entire event. If you are NOT recording, proceed as far as possible towards the transmission, getting closer as it comes in more clearly. Try as best as possible to find the source of the transmission, or at the least, its general area. STEP 3: When the transmission ends, press "P" and take a second screenshot of the player list, or if you are recording, once again show it in the video. STEP 4: When appropriate and/or safe, return here and fill out a "STRIP" report: S: Server Name T: Time of day (server time) R: Recordings (if applicable) I: Information (Location and direction of movement when broadcast is detected, any players you spot and their movements, etc. Especially important section for those that do not have recordings) P: Player list (before and after) Rydekk, I would recommend copying and pasting this to the first post in the thread, so that it gets better exposure. -

NEW INFORMATION: The prime suspect player, ADMINDESK, is NOT responsible for the transmission! Go back to the first page in this thread and watch the second video. At EXACTLY 0.57 ADMINDESK disappears from the list of players, yet the broadcast continues. Despite the fact that this player is the only player KNOWN to have been present during all broadcasts, we can now say for certain, that at MINIMUM they were not solely responsible. It is POSSIBLE that he or she is in collusion with one or more to make this broadcast, but while it is POSSIBLE, it seems unlikely that the perpetrator or perpetrators would make this hoax so unnecessarily complex. If it is a hoax, I suspect that we are dealing with only ONE prankster. The more and more I think about this, the more I suspect that it is legit. Consider: -The image of the radio next to the statue. (why would the devs have put that in? What is a statue doing in the middle of the woods next to a ham radio? Its clearly meant to be SOME sort of easter egg). -Devs put in working transmitters, then we start to detect this broadcast. (Why add in functionality for transmitters NOW, when so many other more important things could be worked on? The devs KNOW we don't need transmitters to communicate. We have Skype, TS, Steam, etc, which is FAR better. Who would use THIS over those things, which has a limited range and require batteries and inventory space? So why put them in? To discover in game broadcasts). -This thread (whose last post was in july 2013) may have been the inspiration to give the devs the idea: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/141778-sa-uvb-76-and-other-mysterious-radio-stations/ -The broadcast, player or not, is stationary. Players that detect it in elektro and then MOVE AWAY find the signal gets weaker. If it is a prankster, its a very patient one, logging into a server with different names, sitting in one spot, and broadcasting (what? a homemade sound file? It would HAVE to be. Those numbers aren't random, they point to GREEN FUKIN MOUNTAIN. What are the odds that a sound file found on the web would have the same numbers in the same, correct order? AND its in Russian? It would have to be a homemade job, and if so, its a very elaborate job) a signal with NO WAY WHATSOEVER of knowing if anyone is listening. If we are dealing with a hoax, then the MOST LIKELY scenario is this, and that's an AWFUL lot of effort and time spent doing it on the OFF CHANCE that someone is in elektro, has a transmitter, AND has it turned on. Pranksters and trolls want their pranks to be SEEN. This seems to me to be way to much effort and formulation for something that would go undetected 99% of the time. I think it is far more likely that the broadcast is an artifact of developer programming, and that its occurrence is determined by as yet unknown factors: time, population, randomness, location, or anything else. *sigh. All this, and I have yet to even hear it for myself in game.... - -

the broadcast gives coordinates to green mountain, but that does not mean that the broadcaster (player) is moving that direction. Every time the signal has been detected, it was in electro. Therefore it is probable that the broadcaster has chosen a location, probably an obscure one, to sit and make the broadcast. If so, it would be possible to pick up the broadcast, and track down the general location of the signal's origin: As you move farther away, the signal weakens and becomes staticy, as you get closer, more clear and less staticy. If we get close enough to the source we MAY be able to find the person responsible and confirm that it is a hoax. OR we may find the source of the signal, and find that it is a radio or some other in game asset. The broadcast has, to my knowledge, only been found at night, on hi population servers, between the hours of 1900 and 0100. It is not known for certain that it does not occur in other towns, or at other times. The only discernible pattern thus far is high population (10+), night time (1900-0100), and the two servers it was detected on. -
LOL. Ive already been doing this. Whenever I find an M4, if I don't already have a gun, or if I am trading my M4 for a mosin (which I prefer), I will ALWAYS take the sights, handguard, and butstock off the gun, put them in my inventory, and dump them somewhere nearby that a player would likely not look (like in a bush, or dense grass, etc). Of course, IRL I would simply pop the rear retaining pin, flip up the upper receiver, and pull out the entire bolt carrier group, which would be much quicker and simpler. But that's IRL....

well, that theory is debunked. Nonetheless, it is still possible (although unlikely) that this is the game, and not the actions of a player. If it is a player, than as I said above, in order to be doing this, they MUST be playing the recording into a mike, which then sends the sounds to the game, and THEN through the in game transmitter they are using, and finally to us through our transmitters. WHICH MEANS that a player nearby the perpetrator would be able to hear the broadcast without a transmitter, as if they were hearing them speak. This remains the best way to find the culprit, if there is one. EDIT: Which would also mean that in addition to the broadcast, the perpetrators mike would ALSO pick up any background noise: a cough, movement, sounds in the house, opening doors, crunching potato chips, etc. Something to listen for the next time any of us manage to find the broadcast again. -

A new thought JUST occurred to me, which supports the possibility that it is NOT a hoax. IF it was a player, we would see two things: 1: The player would have to be broadcasting over the in game VOIP, and into his/her transmitter. Which means that we would be able to HEAR the player playing the message into their transmitter over direct comms if we were nearby the player. This would make it so that a player perpetrating this hoax would be announcing their position to anyone nearby, a risky venture. This means that if a player IS responsible, they would be very easy for a decent sized search party to find them somewhere in elektro. One player could be listening for the broadcast, then inform the search party to begin the search when it shows up. This makes it somewhat less likely that a player is doing this, due to the risk. But the other, more important reason: 2. Having listened to the broadcast in the recordings, it comes through the transmitter with an alarming amount of CLARITY. No stutter or lag or cut out due to server lag, ping, etc. It comes through COMPLETELY and TOTALY unbroken, something that is not likely to occur in real life (if you have ever used civilian or even military communications, broken and unreadable transmissions are COMMON), never mind across a less then perfect internet connection, through the game, and finally through you. I would expect, if it WAS a player, to hear stutter, cut offs, or even to not hear it at all. Even when thrasher and his group moved away and the signal became weaker, the transmission's weakness was clearly heard in the form of static. Almost as though the static was artificially generated to give the IMPRESSION that the signal was weaker as you moved farther away. Is this static heard in player to player transmitter communications as they move further away (someone confirm?)? If not, if in player to player transmitter comms the communication just gets QUITER or simply cuts out altogether as you move out of range, then the static heard in the Thrasher video is almost certainly an artificial aspect of programing, and NOT due to another player. -
another reason why I think this is bad: It encourages even MORE KOS. Nobody will bother attempting to hold you up, cuff you, "catch and release", or whatever, because of this. They wont interact, tell you to get back. Nope. They will just fuking SHOOT you because they know you can run really fast and knock you out. Its going to turn this game into an arcadey mosh pit game with survival elements...

I REAAAAALY think this needs to be adjusted. Not because of gear loss, or realism (its absolutely possible), but because people are starting to do THIS, instead of "playing" the game. Theres no reason to bother looting dozens of towns and all the risks that come with it, when you can just put up your fists and run really fast (in a laggy server, this would make you extremely hard to hit with the way ADS works in game) and punch out the first geared player you see. What do you stand to lose? Worst case scenario, you end up on the beach again, no worse off then you were. Im not saying it should be "fixed" because bambis should be defenseless, or because I don't want to lose my gear, etc., but because I have a bad feeling that this play style will ultimately be bad for the game in general. I KOS occasionally, if I am hunting (to which there is a ritualistic process I adhere to, and make something out of it, rather than just killing everyone and everything in sight). And I SUPPORT KOS as a play style, in that I don't think it should be punished. Personally, I don't LIKE it when people KOS me without making something of it (playing COD-Modern zombie appocolypse). But I also think it should be allowed. I realize this is kind of contradictory, but if you try to think about it you will understand what I mean. KOSing, while not wrong IMO, is bad enough for the community in this game. But this added to that will degrade the overall experience too much. If you manage to find an oblivious geared player, SNEAK UP ON HIM, and smash his head in with a pipe wrench, even a ballistic helmet would not stop the acceleration of your brain slamming into the side of your skull. And guess what? He was an IDIOT, and deserved to be flattened, robbed, and possibly even killed. But if you are just running down the road, see a guy with a gun up ahead, and put up your fists to run faster, strafing around and stopping (running evasively), the guy with the gun will have a hard time hitting you, not just because you are moving around too much, but because the server will get confused. He might actually hit you, but YOU aren't actually there anymore. Then you get up on him, and *sock, unconscious. This is not realistic. Its ridiculous. KOSing, while not WRONG per se, is bad enough. With this, I fear this game is going to devolve considerably. And the fact that some people can manage to do this to THREE armed players working together, or 2 people who are holding down a CORRIDOR? Sorry, but this is ridiculous.
-
great. Just GREAT. Its bad enough that people actually do this IRL. But now we have the knockout game in DayZ? Just like IRL though, it can be dangerous. Two people attempted this on me in elektro. I killed them both with my 357.

It may be that we have our culprit. It doesn't tell us WHO this ADMINDESK person is, but it may be that they either aren't changing their name, or are changing it to ADMINDESK for the broadcast. It may be that the culprit even WANTS to be found out. If anyone hears the transmission again, be sure to check the player list and see what names appear. I was also thinking that it may be possible to triangulate the signal, to a degree, although it would be very difficult, especially without having several people, and even then may not work.. One person waits in elektro until the broadcast happens. Meanwhile several people spread out in a perimeter outside of elektro begin to move in when the broadcast happens. As they move in, the signal will come through more strongly. As they move away, weaker. Eventually they will all end up walking in the general direction of the broadcast, playing a sort of game of "hot or cold". Once they all think they are pointing towards the direction where the signal is strongest, everyone pulls out a compass and shoots an azimuth. Using the map and the azimuths, we may be able to see where those lines intersect, and form a search area. If you are having a hard time imagining what I am suggesting, think like the excavation mini game from FF7, where you position the workers around, then set off the charge. Then all the workers turn to look in the direction of the item. If you dig in the right spot, you find it. SORT OF like that. Regardless, this would take time and effort to organize, AND to pull off, and still may not work. But I cant think of any other way to track down who (assuming it IS a player, which its still possible its not) is broadcasting. EDIT: when I get the chance/time (im still in elektro), I am going to start collecting transmitters and batteries. Maybe we can set up some sort of search party. Its not like I have anything better to do in game. And I got a head start yesterday when two bambis found me at night (thanks to my headlamp) and attacked me. I killed them both with surgical precision headshots from my .357, and claimed their batteries. -
just remember: Dicks also fuck assholes.... Oh, and Pearl Harbor sucked.
