Ok. I think ive picked a good server for the event. Its regular, but with 3pp off and its a daytime server. In a little bit ill be posting a new thread announcing the start of the event. Also, to add to the list of rules I will be adhering to, during the event, I will NOT be using any out of game comms. No teamspeak, no steam, no nothing. So anyone that will be joining me on MY side will be doing the same, however it looks as tho at the moment I am alone, so it may be irrelevant.

I really don't understand how people CONTINUE to argue that the dispersion in game is NOT ridiculous. It has been CLEARLY established that dispersion in SA is highly random and is a WIDE cone, and has been established with the use of SCIENCE.... Even Dean Hall has seen the wisdom of the great science, and has agreed to implement changes to the ballistics system based on the findings of that science...

Well folks. Good news: After a quick trip to NEAF and NWAF I managed to round out my kit a bit, find some more mags, ammo, etc. Got a prreeeeeety nice set up, if I do say so myself. So im currently hangin out somewhere just outside berez now (logged out, of course. don't bother looking for me yet). Ill move in and set myself up before I make the thread announcing the start of the event. But for now, Im gonna lay down some ground rules. For me. Not you. I have no way of enforcing rules on other participants (nor would I want to), but I DO hope anyone participating "plays along". I fully expect to lose in the end (although ill be trying not too), but im hoping that I don't get l33tnoscopeheadsniped right at the beginning. Although that DOES present a funny visual: "I AM COOOOOBRA COMANDER! AND ALL BEFORE ME ARE SUBJUGATED TO MY WILL!! ALL WILL OBE*BLAM.....thud. But I digress. The rules I will adhere to: I will not kill another player unless I believe them to be an IMEADIATE threat to me, an assumption to be formed based on what is happening at that moment. Im not doing this to farm some KOS kills, but to have a roleplay event. I WILL shoot AT you, but since everyone knows that COBRA has a horrendous marksmanship program, it will probably miss. And so will the 20 other shots that follow. But don't get comfortable. If I think im about to be killed and the event ended too soon for my tastes, the Marine in me will take over and ill put 2 in your chest and one in your head. Death is a possibility, and more, a likely outcome. I will accept this. I will have fun. I will not break character unless I ABSOLUTELY have to (although I may eventually rip a hole in my vocal chords. the CC voice is hard on my throat after a while, and as a result the quality of the impersonation my degrade somewhat. But Ill push through. A good Marine can scream bloody murder from the bowels of hell all day and not stop until his throat implodes).

sadly, I don't have any kind of recording software, but will probably get fraps or something in the future when I have money to do so, since I DO plan to make this a recurring event. No, it will be tomorrow afternoon, roughly around 2pm US eastern standard time, regardless of how many people are available to join me. If I end up alone, so be it. For now, I'm off to gear up a bit more and prepare, eventually move to somewhere in berez. If I don't die in game, or if something IRL doesn't come up (such as dying IRL), ill post a new thread here in general titled something along the lines of "Transmission from cobra commander detected in berez" or something. Again, I highly encourage any streamers, recorders, frappers (ewww), etc. come along and do their thing. Ill try to prolong the event for as long as possible to keep it interesting. "Tomorrow" is technically TODAY. its 1:30 am where I am. so in about 10 1/2 hours, give or take.

hooooowww DAAAAARRE you.... Do you think me some sort of COWARD!? (everyone knows he is, of course). *ill be alone, against any comers. so of course I will take advantage of strategic opportunities. But I want this to be an EVENT. That means I HAVE to be careful, lest the first guy to waltz in kills me. As such, I may, or may not KOS the first guy I see. It is certainly a risk any comers will have to take. But, then again, a solution to this is to come in greater numbers. I would have a hard time taking on a group of 5. Or 10. Or, potentially, an entire server....

Unlike Gews, I don't have the technical knowledge to read script values, and produce fancy pants visuals that eloquently explain my concept (his threads about ballistics were awesomeness). Im also lazy. The problem with my proposal, I think, is that without visualizing what I mean, it can sound like a realistic system, but complicated to both implement (on the coding level) and use (in game). I agree that the CURRENT system is by and far better than the mod. Ill take its user friendliness over realism any day. But I believe it can be BOTH user friendly, AND realistic, if done right. I do, however, also agree that implementation may be difficult, but then I don't expect the devs would be able to implement it any time soon, IF at all. Its alpha. SO, because I am lazy, but still want to visualize this (as we say in the Marines, "break it down barney style"), I have just finished making a video, which I will post on tube, and link here for your viewing pleasure. I apologize ahead of time if it sucks for any reason. I also don't know how long it will take, so bear with me.

I just thought of this as well: Stretch. Say for example, I want to put a can of beans into my jeans pocket. The bean can has slightly greater volume than the single pocket, but not excessively so. IRL, I might be able to cram that sucker in there, but then have no way of getting anything else in with it. So in game, a little bit of leeway is granted. If a single inventory slot can hold say, a pistol magazine, and still have half its volume empty, and I want to put a radio in there as well, if the radio does not exceed the total volume by an excessive amount, the pocket (inventory slot) is "stretched" to allow it to fit, however the pocket can no longer have any other items added to it, where without the radio, I might have been able to add 2 other, smaller items. This way, the system doesn't become too unforgiving...

Im going to find a pen and piece of paper, and write this message: TURN BACK NOW! Then leave it in the middle of the road on the coast. Then ill go down the road a ways and wait.... at least they wont be able to say they weren't warned...

Which gives me an idea for a myth to test: I have blown up several gas stations, just for shits and giggles. But ONE time, after blowing up the pump, while I was busy reloading, a second pump exploded! I was the only one on the server at the time, and didn't fire any more shots. I am thinking that one detonation can possibly set of another secondary explosion. needs testing to confirm, I think.
