I have noticed this as well, op. Good job spotting this Jum, its VERY faint. You can barely see it in game. ALSO: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?!?

I don't see 4 pristine yellow storage boxes in there! You could store MORE full ammo cans inside them, as well as food and stuff, then you would have room for even more food and ammo. I also don't see a 357. or a sawed off....

Bump for updated information in the "ongoing" section. Updated list of sites requiring investigation. Checked black forest a final time. From my understanding, they do NOT work atm. I think its less that they are broken, and more that they just haven't had any functionality put in yet. Either way, they are just swag items. As far as subsonic ammunition goes, that would NOT be required for them to suppress the shots. Suppression doesn't mean silenced. It would just make the shots less loud, which is a benefit. To get SILENCED you would need subsonic ammunition. Which in the case of the M4 is nearly useless. There is a reason why the us military, which uses M4/M16/etc weapons as standard issue GI weapons that fire the 5.56 nato cartridge, don't include silencers. To silence the shot, subsonic ammunition would be needed. But making the 5.56 subsonic changes its ballistics such that it makes the round pointless. It becomes about as effective as a .22. And while that can still kill, it lacks the stopping power, the raw ability to wound you so much so quickly that you DROP. I have heard stories where people are shot in the head at near point blank range by 22. bullets multiple times and survive. TL/DR, you can suppress the M4, but to make it silent you would essentially be shooting a 22., which has almost no stopping power. EDIT: forgot to mention, that silencers/suppresors will muffle the report of the weapon, but do nothing to silence the supersonic crack of the round, which is WHY subsonic ammunition is necessary for those "stealthy ghost kills". -

CAREFULL OP!! If we keep this up much longer, we will soon have flying pigs. Do you know how bad that would be????? When was the last time a bird crapped on your car? OR YOU JACKET? Yeah, now imagine PIGS..... Furthermore, if pigs start flying around, we are gonna have serious problems in the sky. Jets are designed to handle impacts from birds to the canopy and engines. NO PIGS. Our 747's are gonna start dropping like FLIES. FLIES I SAY! And lastly, hell will freeze over, because not only is a long and intelligent and respectfull debate happening on the internet, but FUKIN PIGS ARE FLYING!!!! If hell freezes over, then all those people that die to pig shit impacts and crashing planes will have nowhere to go, and will be forced to roam the earth, undying. ANNNNNND now we have a zombie apocalypse. With pig shit raining from the skies. Sorry op. but I have to do this, as you leave me no choice: You are wrong and dumb. I am right and NOT dumb. I understood exactly what he was saying. M4s are easy to break down. Pop two retaining pins loose, separate upper and lower recievers, and VOILA! you have split the gun in half. Result? Easily fits in a backpack. With just a little practice, I was able to completely disassemble my M16A4 AND reassemble it in less than 30 seconds. That includes removal of the sling, handguards, separation of the upper and lower, removal of the bolt carrier group, separation of the bolt from the bolt carrier, disassembly of the bolt down to the brass extractor, and removal and separation of the buffer and buffer spring, THEN reverse it all back to a single, functional weapon. I made a point in the suggestion thread about something along these lines as well, essentially point out that while our current inventory system is by and far better than that of the mod, it could still be just as user friendly AND realistic if item volume and storage container volume were factored in. There is no reason whatsoever why a broken down M4 could NOT fit in my backpack, YET I am able to shove a 600 round ammo can full of ammo into my jeans pocket? It just doesn't make sense. DEAN AND DEVS: I hope one of you sees this, and passes it around. THIS is what would be truly wonderful as far as implementation of base building goes. Frankly, I find the dead linger system to be ugly and out of place in dayz. If construction were modular in some respects, that's fine. But PLEASE do not just copy pasta this system. I realize that implementing this image and everything it implies would take a lot of time, but frankly, I would GLADLY wait if it could be the end result... -
OP, thank you. you clearly expressed your opinion and views on the matter in a way that was logical and respectful. A rarity around here. I especially like how you respect other play styles that you disagree with by seeing the merits or understanding the other viewpoint, while adhering to your own. Very mature, with a strong sense of integrity. To answer your question, KoS IS and IS NOT an issue. Right now, it does get out of hand sometimes. I KoS occasionally, but primarily from a lack of anything better to do. I have played the helpful/friendly/hero/whatever route, and had fun with it. But I have ALSO found it to be highly disappointing at times (help a bambi gear up by giving him a backpack full of food and suggest he go north, but he just says hes gonna go to balota to find a gun. Mind you, this was on a hi pop server where balota was likely already cleaned out and full of bandits. My efforts were wasted on him. Just one example). Sometimes I like to find a really nice hunters hide (high ground, top of building, deer stand, whatever), scout it out, plan escape routes, take practice shoots to find the range, then come back later and wait. A player shows up, comes within my zone, and I kill him. Sounds empty and uncomplicated. Maybe even trollish at first glance. But for me, its not about the kill. Its the whole ritual of the hunt. Pitting my wits against that of another HUMAN BEING in a life or death struggle that both parties get to walk away from un harmed. The adrenaline rush of knowing that this person is just as capable of outwitting me, becoming the hunter, not wanting to miss the shot for fear of failure, and the ecstasy of successfully defeating my opponent, or the possibility of defeat (which would mean the potential for growth, improvement, and further challenge). I have said all this before, and caught a LOT of flack for it. But what a lot of people fail to realize, is that I don't do this all the time. I have KoSed another player a grand total of FIVE times. First two were hunts, the third was a poorly geared player running straight at me that may or may not have intended harm, the 4th was a server hopper that dropped into the shower room of a barracks RIGHT NEXT TO ME, and the last was another hunting kill. Any other player kills were the results of combat I did not initiate. Eventually, the game will have more items, concepts implemented, greater threats from the zombies, base building, vehicles, etc. ALL of these things will become tools that players can use in friendly interactions that will make those interactions more numerous, more varied, and more interesting. Right now, we just don't have many "tools" to work with. So some people, myself included, turn to other thrills. Which themselves get boring and tiresome after a while. There is much more coming to this game. It hasn't been out in a playable state for even 3 months yet. We all just need to give it time.

its also important to note that there is a very large swath of land up north that will eventually have more towns, buildings, and cities added in. In addition to that we will soon have respawning loot, and presumably around the same time or soon after, zombies that are more dangerous and more numerous. Bandits, killers, hunters (like me) will always be a threat. but with these things, there will be more reasons for interaction and teamwork, and therefore more entertainment derived from it. However, I do feel that ONE HUNDRED man servers might be a bit much. I imagine 60 or maybe 80 tops, would be better for balancing. But who knows? maybe it will work out in the end....

Cool picture! Did u make or find? I fully condone KoS, and do it myself from time to time. Problem is that player interaction is limited by how much we can actually do together or for each other. I want to see more of it, but as it is, its difficult due to limitations which force us to have only a few options, which get boring over time, leaving us (me) with a desire for something different (in this example, KoS). Naturally, some will disagree, which is fine. But when the game is a full release, and we have private hive communities that enforce roleplay rules in which KoS is only allowed when it is relevant to the roleplay, THIS picture is where I see this game going eventually. Players will have to work together, form a community, repair vehicles for transportation of manpower and material, gathering tools, lumber, generators for those lights, fuel for those generators and vehicles, tents, barricades, etc. I am already thoroughly enjoying the game. But its nothing compared to what it will eventually become, I think. And this picture is a perfect image of my hopeful imagination of that eventual outcome. I would give you beans, OP, but I cant give out anymore today, it seems... -
