  1. Is anyone else having this happen to them? I have not made a bug report on it, but I will if it hasn't been done yet, or if others have this issue as well. Several times now I have logged in and found items I had before I logged out missing from my inventory. Yesterday, I logged out about 30 minutes after finding a magnum. I had the gun attached to my hotkey bar, and continued to play until logging out. Several hours later I came back and the gun was gone from my inventory. I even had a white "ghost" image of the gun still in my hotkey bar, as if I had simply taken it out of my inventory and placed it on the ground. I have also had protector cases disappear on more than one occasion, one had a medkit (which was on my hotkey bar and was now a white silhouette), and later I also lost one that had an ammo can (also now a white silhouette on my hotkey bar). I haven't been able to determine a pattern that points to a cause yet, and it seems to be happening on multiple servers. Anyone else experiencing this or know what the cause might be? EDIT: thus far, all of these items that disappeared where NOT items I had JUST picked up moments before logging out. All of them were things I had been carrying for a while.
  2. I also had that happen to me; logged in to find myself completely naked, every item gone, and nothing but white silhouettes in my tool bar. I didn't think about it as I was writing this, because in that instance I lost EVERYTHING, not just one item (or one item with other items inside it). I don't know if its related, but now that I think back, the time that I lost everything, and one of the times I lost a protector case, both happened after a log out forced by a server restart.... as to the search function: I don't use it. I CONCIOUSLY choose not to. It sucks. Half the time I cant even get it to find my own threads where I know EXACTLY what the thread title is.

Why Day Z is "Fundamentally Flawed"

good read, op. But I don't think that's quite what he meant. Look at it from an artist's standpoint. I have some ("SOME") talent when working with clay. Ive made quite a few pieces in my college classes I took, that turned out to be quite good. My professor would always congratulate me and tell me how good the work was. But I would always be quick to say "no, its NOT that great." to which the answer was always something along the lines of "yes it IS".... Point being that when you make something yourself, you will do so with an intent for the final product. And when you are done, you, the creator, will judge your own creation. You will see all of the flaws and mistakes you made, down to the most MINUTE detail. Everyone else may look at it and behold loveliness, but YOU will always look at it, and be unable to ignore the flaws in your creation. Flaws that others miss, because they don't know what to look for. But you do, and you see them. I think that dayz SA isn't quite exactly what he envisioned. I think its actually impossible for him to see it happen perfectly. And I think that he knows this. Therefore the concept is "fundamentally flawed". Despite its obvious flaws and issues, its still a great game. It still gives me a sense of immersion, and causes me to experience an actual adrenaline rush. _end rand abruptly. Got somewhere to be.
  5. It amazes me how many people are panicking and freaking out! I honestly think its all just the people that came into this thinking it was a fully functioning, playable game. I, and many others, bought into the game with the understanding that we were alpha testing the game, and in EXCHANGE, we get to own the complete version on release, and have paid half price for it. In addition to enjoying what the game has to offer during the development process. But so many people cam into this thinking it was a fully functioning, playable game. They think they got "ripped off", or are upset because a bug killed them and they lost all their gear. How many RAGERS have come on this forum for NO other reason than to bitch and moan because their characters got reset, or the fell down a ladder, or whatever. I get killed by that shit more often than I am killed by players BY FAR. Has bothered me not one bit. People need to stop treating this like its an actual game, and start treating it like something that will BECOME a game. Why do you think so many people bitch about getting killed in game? Because they are trying to PLAY it. And so are the killers. Im all for having some fun, but buying into this project was supposed to imply that you are doing so with the full knowledge and understanding that we are alpha testers, and what little there is to enjoy in the game currently will become boring very quickly. Its not like any of you bought this game, being SPECIFICALLY told it was a finished product, only to find out it was shit, like Day One Garry's incident, aliens colonial marines, X-Rebirth, or battlefield 4 (which even NOW still has issues). Now THERE are some games where the companies that made them took our money and fucking ran. You want to talk about a game that was TRULY a fuking scam, look no further than garry's incident. Excepting BF4, which at least is still being worked on, but still never should have been released in the state it was in. If you had been mislead into thinking this game was even fully PLAYABLE, then you would have room to bitch about bugs, missing features, or the fact that the lead developer is planning to leave the project. Seriously, people, get over yourselves. Dean hall wants to return to his FAMILY. Can you not grasp THAT, if nothing else? He wont be leaving until its in beta anyways, and by then his "vision" will already be implemented, and the rest of the work will not require his creative input. NOTHING whatsoever has changed. The game is still in alpha, many features are still missing, we still have game breaking bugs and issues, the project still has a lot of work left to be put into it, and we are all still alpha testers. The project continues to move forward, the pace of development hasn't changed, and all you whiny asshats are accomplishing is to make yourselves out to look like spoiled children. So stop your bellyaching, and get back to "playing" the game so that you can find issues, bugs, think of ideas or concepts to suggest, etc. so that the final product will be that much better when its done. Good fucking god.

Now I know why they call him 'Rocket'

so are you leaving then? if so, bye.
  7. Personally, I JUST got done upgrading my PC. Went from an AMD sapphire HD 7770 (which was starting to have issues) and 4 gigs of ram, to adding an extra 8 gigs, and upgrading the GPU to an AMD R9 270x 2gb. SIGNIFICANT increase in performance and appearance. I noticed right away, that even with the graphics settings still on low (didn't change them after swapping out the cards), it still looked a LOT better. The game looks down right GORGEOUS on high settings, but sadly gets a little too choppy for my tastes. So I turned the settings back down to low, and am enjoying the better graphics even at that stage. I was considering also replacing my hard drive (sata) with an SSD, but hadn't decided to make the leap yet. If I do, I will report on my findings as far as performance/appearance goes...

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

Don't care what the man chooses to do with his personal life. I have no reason NOT to have faith in the rest of the dev team to carry on with the project in his absence, especially when it will not be until a year or more from now. Going to go play this game and test some shit out, and have fun, even though it is still in very early alpha. Why should anyone give a damn? Let the man go do his thing.

Have you/have you not seen a hacker?

keep em coming. Data is valuable, one way or the other.
  12. Ok, so what the hell is going on here? I found myself at NWAF on several different servers throughout this morning, and I have borne witness to some downright ODD things. And every one of these instances occurred on an empty server, with (other than the oddities) zero, and I mean ZERO indication that anyone had been looting the area. No open doors, plenty of loot, no piles of empty mags. Just these strange signs of player activity. The first (and the strangest) was a aggroed zombie standing and swiping at the open air. Odd, but not unheard of in and of itself. What was interesting was that on approach, I can see an object at her feet. Its an M4. I kill the zombie with my FNx, and approach the M4 to see if there is anything good attached, and as I walked up to it, a bullet impacted the ground RIGHT next to it! I INSTANTLY checked the player list: EMPTY. Why was this zombie aggroed to this spot by a player, that left behind an M4, in the middle of the tarmac, and not looting anything? And where/who did that shot come from, on an EMPTY server??? Next, after a server restart, I found myself at the tent city, and decided to say "fuk it" and make another run. Once again, the server was empty. I found ONE barracks building that had all its doors open (2 story version), but seemingly none of the loot taken. 3 60 rnd mags, 2 gas masks, an ammo can, food and sodas about, backpacks, clothes, etc. Just opened doors. Continuing on, the only sign of player activity was a ruined M4 RDS sight in the last hanger building. Who came through, opened all the doors of a single barracks building, touched NONE of the loot on the entire base, failed to kill any of the zombies, and left behind a ruined red dot? Next, after leaving for a few hours (the game), I came back and....said "fuk it. Im already here. might as well". Yeah, im about .01% shy of server hoping at this point, but its not a deliberate thing. Besides, had I not made another trip, I wouldn't have seen the next oddity. Once again, no doors opened, lots of loot, and (forgot to mention this next bit, which was also true for the previous cases) lots of zombies around. Once again, generally no indication that the place had been touched. And what do I find? On the TOP of the ATC tower (top floor, climbed the ladder to get on top of the glass house) I found about 20....TWENTY....PRISTINE.....sheets of paper..... WHAT?! Who the HELL goes to the trouble to find 20 freaking PRISTINE sheets of paper, takes them all to NWAF, and puts them ALL (BLANK, btw) in the most unlikely, obscure spot, with next to NO chance of being found, on an EMPTY server????? This blew my mind. But there was more.... By now, Im getting curios, so I start deliberately hopping, and I am seeing some WEIRD shit people! In all cases, the circumstances are the same: No indication of prior human presence (zombies about, plenty of loot, no open doors) aside from these strange occurances. In one trip, I found that every m4 and fnx mag, and every speedloader I found, had all of their bullets taken but ONE. All closed doors, zombies around. I found another server wherein I found an ABSURD number of 9volt batteries around (as many as 5 or more in each loot spot). Yet another server yielded a bunch (about 10-15) of rotten kiwis in the middle of the tarmac between the firestation and the atc. And more that I have forgotten! So, my question is, what in the good god damn is going on at NWAF? Why are players leaving behind intentionally bizzare or odd things, on empty servers?

    POSSIBLE bugg that cause damage

done this several times with protector cases, searching my inventory for the one I need, and never suffered any injury to it. Ill keep an eye out and speak up if it does happen tho. good looks OP. I HAVE however experienced running into an object (in this case, the sandbag wall on the top floor of the lookout tower (the ones draped in camo netting found at the tent cities), and having my screen flash grey as if I just took a hit. Afterwards, my character suffered no injury, but my pants were ruined. I tried to reproduce it, but was unable to.

"I realy hope in an real apocalyptic scenario, the people come to value life more. And that there are much less guns." I SINCERLY doubt it. Go to Detroit and, especially, the surrounding suburbs. Or any "ghetto" city. Gang violence runs rampant in many places throughout the world. And there aint no apocalypse. And as to less guns? SHIT no. My house alone has 9 of them. And plenty of ammo for each.

plenty of bridges in chernarus to hide under. Go for it. *yeah, so, I know that the proper term is "ROLE PLAY". but the damn auto correct on my pc changed it. Big deal. What is it with people on the internet always being grammar/spelling nazi's..... EDIT: Oh yeah, and since you apparently DID read the post, and did so carefully enough to pick out a spelling error, your troll is now a fail DOUBLY so.
  18. This thread has nothing to do with cheating. Its about "signs of ""odd"" player activity at NWAF". While I assume its possible some of this strange stuff could be done with scripts, I also do not assume it WAS done using scripts. Just discussing the nature of the events, why players would bother, and other's personal experiances with odd events. And tacos. Any thread I make welcomes the discussion of tacos as a side topic. But cheating or hacking? Irrelevant to this thread.

    Goodbye Dayz

You know what? The next time I see a player, and they say something like "FRIENDLY!", "ARE YOU FRIENDLY?", or "PRESS F2! PRESS F2!", I will shoot them on the spot. Not for the pleasure, not because that's what my character just "does", but for ONE REASON: YOU ARE SCREWING WITH MY IMMERSION! Never mind the fact that the game is still in alpha, that many features aren't implemented yet. Never mind that KOS is RELEVANT to the game, and is a legitimate form of roll play. The game can STILL be fun because of the way it sucks me in. And when I am traveling down the road, LOOKING for player interaction, and the first words out of your mouth are to tell me to press a GOD DAMNED BUTTON on my key board, you are snapping me back to reality, RUINING the experience for me! Or shouting "FRIENDLY!" over direct. It makes me WINCE. WHO THE HELL would do that in a real, apocalyptic scenario? SO GET STABBED! IN THE BRAIN! WITH BULLETS! YOU WHINERS WHINE ABOUT KOSERS AND WANTING "INTERACTION", BUT NOT A ONE OF YOU UNDERSTANDS PROPER ROLL PLAY! You don't have to get all "serious" about it. Just use a little intelligence and verbal WIT and leave out key words that are immersion breaking like "press (button)", or "player" or "log in". Do you want interaction???? Or are you here for social fucking networking?!?!?! So I ask you: which of these two scenarios is more realistic, relevant, and "proper" roll play? #1 You and I pass each other on the road, wave, shout "friendly", then agree to team up and go "loot" NWAF together, all the while talking about combat loggers, our RL problems, school, etc. #2 I am following a road, off to the side of it, moving efficiently and deliberately from cover to cover. Up ahead I see a well equipped person. They are wearing a lot of military clothing, and are carrying a lot of firepower. This person poses a SERIOUS potential threat to me. They MIGHT not be hostile, but I don't know that. I could stay hidden, but he might spot me as he passes by. No, better to play it safe. I crouch in the tall grass to stabilize my shot, put the rifle firmly in my shoulder. I rest my cheek on the smooth wood of the buttstock, attain a good eye relief on my LRS, and line up the reticule. I take a few deep breaths to calm my heart rate (and my nerves), then breathe out slowly. As the air is leaving my lungs I smoothly and slowly, so slowly, OH so slowly pull the trigger to the rear. It seems to take forever to come back to the point of releasing the hammer, but an accurate shot depends on proper trigger control. Further and further back it goes. I start to wonder how much further it needs, it feels like ive already pulled it back a mile. How much long!!!!!!!BANG!!!!!!. The hot lead screams out of the barrel chased by superheated gasses, knifing through the air and wind to impact on the target's skull, mushrooming against it even as the skull shatters, flattening out as it smashes its way through masses of neurons and dendrites, lobes and oblomgatas, tearing apart the very fabric of that person's....person, destroying more and more of him as it moves through his brain. He drops like a sack of bricks. I quickly run and check him for any chance of survival, and also to briefly rummage through his belongings. I take what I need, and leave. Quickly.
