  1. Yes it sounds like you are trying to join a mod not running the proper files for it, like kichilron said how are you joining these servers?
  2. Try deleting your arma 2 and arma 2 other profiles folders under documents, anytime full fresh installs don't work the problem usually lies there. You can also try deleting your arma 2 and arma 2 oa folders from *yourusername*/appdata/local/

  4. Yes I noticed that wasn't on the roadmap, thinking maybe they wanna try it internally before putting it out like that or they were grouping in it with optimization or the renderer. The beta optimization I was talking about were the heavy optimizations we will likely see at that stage. I'm sure with the renderer they will do some client side optimization to see what they will have to play with object count wise in a given area.

Around 7 months ago when they first started talking about the new renderer I saw one of the devs (rocket I think) talking about multicore/multithreading for clients as well as the servers and 64bit clients. This coupled with the improvements in rendering from DX11 should net some serious performance gains down the road. Traditionally optimizations don't occur until beta in any software, since alpha is for adding the feature set and beta is for bugfixing and code optimization. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle

    Ages ago on reddit they confirmed multicore/multithreading for both server and clients along with 64 bit clients, I tried looking through to find the links but it got drowned out by the toxicity of that terrible place. I would imagine work will start on this towards either after the renderer is implemented or closer to beta when heavy optimizations will start.

    Intel users are also getting low fps in cities, hopefully most of this will be fixed when client side optimizations start to occur after the new renderer is implemented. Directx 11 itself should also give us some increased performance when the renderer gets implemented so can't wait for that.

    Which DayZ mod are you attempting to join? Vanilla DayZ or one of the mods of a mod such as epoch, overpoch, overwatch, etc.

    1st person only for copters and cars

    This will definitely be doable with modding support. It may be better to leave it to that as many people are heavily against first person (personally I only play first person) and play third person only. This was easily doable with a simple script in the arma 2 version of dayz that forced first person when someone entered a vehicle. You could even configure it to also do the same thing while in combat, or only for specific vehicles.

    Just so people have a better understanding of why the loot is currently spawning like it is I'll clarify a bit. Currently the loot spawns are split into regions having ~2km radius. Everytime an item is picked up in that area a new item spawns within 5 seconds in the same region. Currently there is no tech for distributing the loot evenly so it just finds any open loot spawn position and spawns it there. This ends up leading to massive amounts of loot piled up in some buildings with very minimal loot in others. They've said via Eugen they are working on proper loot spawning tech and this system seems like it will help cut down loot cycling quite a bit when implementation and tech is finished. As always though alpha and we'll just have to wait and see how it works out.
  12. I really hope we end up seeing something like this on the tracks throughout the map. Imagine running through the woods near the tracks to hear some squeaking and then see someone goin by on one of these.

    Gotcha, hadn't seen anything on it and didn't see it on the combined thread for vehicle suggestions so I just wanted to make sure I threw it out there.
  14. Overpoch is the epoch files/features with overwatch weapons, vehicles, and skins added. To be clear all epoch features are included in overpoch and the overwatch assets that will be there are up to the servers developer. As for hardest to play that all depends on the servers and other factors. Hope this helps clarify.

    I and 3 friends were able to easily get fully geared last night in 2 hours on public hive servers with persistent loot enabled. Certainly no shortage of loot, if anything many gamebreaking buildings with far far too much loot in them.

Yea we most likely won't see any real major optimizations until beta since that's when that type of stuff usually occurs however when the new renderer comes I'm sure we will see the beginning of some optimizations client side and should help performance quite a bit itself. We still need to wait and see how it plays out but I'm hoping for some large gains and I believe 64bit clients and multithreading both client and server have been discussed by the devs at some point which would lead to massive performance increases all around if done properly. Hopefully we'll get some more information on this since I haven't seen the 64bit clients or multithreading mentioned in quite a few months.
  17. Did they recently change to overpoch? If so then you may not be launching the game with overwatch enabled and the server host didn't properly implement it. Are you joining through DayZ Commander or DayZ Launcher? DayZ Commander uses a slimmed down version of epoch mod for epoch panthera and if the host server is running the full version and adding buildings not in your files but not added correctly they will appear as invisible for you and not for others that are running the full version. If you are joining through DayZ Commander and it is an overpoch server go to settings and then additional launch parameters and add "-mod=@DayZOverwatch;" without the quotes, also download DayZ Overwatch 0.2.5 through commander. Otherwise try DayZ Launcher as it will install the full version of epoch including those buildings. If not I would say to reinstall the game and mods completely something may be corrupt.

    Yes I agree with Conky, try dayz launcher. If that doesn't work I can try and help you out on our teamspeak. See if we can't figure it out.
  20. In the top right there's the settings option, under that the paths will come up. http://i.imgur.com/biVji4F.png this is what it should look like but with your new paths obviously. Mods folder going to your OA directory is probably the best, If you still have trouble after that let me know.

    This means the version you are trying to join doesn't match the version you have or you are running an addon that the server is not allowing (JSRS,CBA,etc) What file names are coming up with the error message?
  23. What server specifically are you trying to join, I'll give you the launch parameters for that server.
