in the thumbnail I see a guy using 3rd person to look around a corner and I already know this video is gonna be fucking boring

notice how with the addition of the new team members there has been a dramatic increase in content creation, I think if you wait all this stuff you are talking about will come. I suspect that at this point in the game people dedicated to assets could be very mobile in what they are working on and that might be a good thing for creativity. To have one guy sit down and make hats from now until next year would be soul crushing and unecessary and I suspect the easter eggs serve as fun diversions. As for the weapons I cant really comment excpet that Im sure there is a map of what needs to be added and artists are just chipping away at it. If you follow Chris Torcia on twitter you will often get sneak peeks of whats coming and discuscion on why weapons are or are not being added so I suggest that. All I want in the end is a diversity of deep choice. One of the cool things in dayz mod is that you can often balance weapon loadoat for pvp and pve and that makes choices interesting. Options like the .22s for quietly dispatching zeds add to gameplay, whether or not a gun makes locational sense to me is not a huge deal as Im not enough of a gun nerd to have immersion broken by that I do hope they put a makraov in though just for old times sake.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

you realize that without binoculars the LRS is one of the most useful items in the game right now, either for fighting or avoiding engagements entirely. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
shagohad replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
the age old problem with zombies has always been the aggro, it hit a sweet spot a few times in the mod where being stealthy was rewarding, but the truth is the zombies arent fun if you cant stealth past them, at the moment when guns seem to have the same audio effect, zeds see you through walls and from far away when you arent moving, and other bullshit, expect to hear people complain about it, you would have to be completely blind with fanboyism to accept the current state. Maybe acknowledge that a bit of criticism in the right places can help the development? edit: just to be clear this post was in response to an OP that got merged and removed, OP was ridiculing people on reddit for complaining about zeds. While sometimes people on reddit need to be ridiculed, the OP was a bit over the top :)- 2286 replies

Okay, my turn to complain about stable branch updates.
shagohad replied to PhillyT's topic in General Discussion
ugh... elder scrolls online sounds worse than this game immediately after release any game will burn you out if you play it exclusively for that long, its a tired argument but you bought into this, no opportunity is being squandered. It just is how it is. Just bitch to your friends like I do, dont bother with making these posts -
well myself and some friends refer to it as 3rd person haxing. To suggest we actually think its hacking would be ridiculous we are just mocking the fact that in 3rd person you can look over walls, ledges, bushes, ect. I think as others have suggested you are active enough on these forums to have heard all the arguments. I think the majority of 1st person players couldn't care less about what is going on in regular hive, they just aren't interested. Very few of us believe the whole game needs to be 1st person and the name hardcore is only useful as a way to separate 3rd from 1st (and crosshairs off when that is available). So I'm not sure what the objective of this thread is? Were you just looking for some positive affirmation? Ill just say what I say in all these threads. A lot of the complaints from people playing on regular (getting constantly killed by KoS snipers ect.) is fixed by 1st person. Play carefully and you will be rewarded its a simple as that. You will look at your surroundings in a completely new way. In MY opinion this makes the game more immersive. Of course you are welcome to your own opinions as well, but this topic has reached the point of a dead horse severely flogged.

why would you want to remove Helicopters? I just don't understand why people want to take away from some of the great and simple aspects of the mod. The only issue with the helicopter was a balance one, the balancing being 1. too easy to fuel 2. small arms innefective 3. armed with reloading LMG's (fundamentally broken) 4. parts easy to farm All of those issues could be easily fixed. Or you could remove helicopters and lose that feeling of stress when you hear the distant thrum of an approaching helicopter, the tense rush to repair one and the ensuing ambushes. The ambushes around refueling points, the coastal pick ups and scouting. Honestly use your imagination, don't ask for the removal of a great piece of dynamic game-play just so you can have your ridiculous tent base with no cover on top of a hill in the North somewhere.

Concretely: what differs the pro from the noob?
shagohad replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in New Player Discussion
play 1st person know the map spot other players first being a good shot ect, is less important -
the only thing that has really bothered me is the crashed BMPs, I mean they are APCs and you would have to lie down to be in the back of them. Of course this is just nitpicking and not really a huge issue
-
so what is different in this idea from any other that punishes banditry? (banditry being a legitimate play-style that is a core part of the game) Dayz offers perhaps one of the most immersive gaming environments out there where people roleplay without even trying to and yet all these suggestions want so badly to incorporate something to break the atmosphere, to shout LOOK YOU ARE PLAYING A GAME, why? I dont get it.... please stop suggesting things that when put up against the core principles of a PERSISTENT, REALISTIC, survival game just dont make any sense.

just watching people play in 3rd person is infuriating

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

arent you that hacker from Redux? dang maybe you should'nt cast the first stone ect. -
It'd be ludicrous to think there WONT be a functioning train
shagohad replied to autoloon's topic in General Discussion
exactly, I think it would encourage a lot of interesting gameplay as far as hero groups fixing it up and maybe armouring it and then saving newspawns and bandit groups ambushing the train. The cool thing about it is that if you found a group of friendly guys all on direct chat you could suggest "lets go fix the train and get it running" It has to be somewhere along the tracks. Cars on the other hand could be anywhere and hard to find. I think in the interest of fun some things in this game need to be prioritized on the realism chart. For example I hope they never remove helicopters but the idea that functioning helicopter exist maybe doesn't make the most sense considering context. They are just fun to have -

shagohad replied to Gekkonidae's topic in Servers
you guys have yer own forum? been playing here a bit, its nice when servers have a separate forum if the player base is consistent :) -
well a couple of things. First if you find a patch to be unstable or not to your liking then you should pro***ly take a break. For example when bodies dissapeared when the player re spawned I decided it was time to wait for a new patch as I am the kind of player who only makes a bug report if I find something I seriously think has not been adressed. Second, if you set your cloud settings to "Very High" you will likely (but not necessarily) have very bright nights without any gamma adjusting. And yeah, havent really had a problem playing on day servers in the hardcore hive (which has lower pop) from about 5pm to 5am if Im really no-lifeing it. And btw in Canada and I suspect the UK enough is spelled with a u. Cheers

Played on a 1st Person server last night...
shagohad replied to libertine's topic in General Discussion
welcome to the fold. Im not sure if you are saying you want head bob? Or just a better headbob. I just turn that shit off, it gets tiresome over time. Movement could be done better, I played on a dayZ Redux mod server that was 1st person and used ST_movement which dramatically improved handling indoors. I suspect a fix like that would not be difficult. -
You misunderstand. OP is upset because he tried to be friendly and it backfired, it backfired because he assumed that cornering himself with a freshpawn who had nothing to lose would be ok. Being friendly when you are geared is all about control of the situation, he didn't have control. Just always ask people to lie down or let you handcuff them. Its insanely easy to knock someone out and whats the worse that could happen to the newspawn if he gets killed? He'd probally spawn again 100 meters away

Another person who doesn't understand that having a gun on you in dayZ doesn't mean you are in control.

To read/watch guides or not to and learn 1st hand?
shagohad replied to -MadTommy's topic in New Player Discussion
dont watch guides and dont use the online maps. Assuming you enjoy exploration, orienteering, and learning from the mistakes that get you killed. I started playing the mod with no ARMA or DayZ experience and before dayzDB existed, finding a map and compass was better than a gun. -
this is a sad, sad thread

Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
shagohad replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
not to sound critical of something I am perhaps misunderstanding, but is there an item called "sawed off recipe" or does this just mean you can saw off the end of a shotgun? Needing a recipe for that doesn't make a lot of sense. -
I just had a great fight in Berezino. We were at the school getting shot at from the factory. We assaulted it, not realzing the sniper and his support had withdrawn. The sniper was now inside one of the new houses looking though a window. He killed 2 of my friends, both with headshots. Nervously I inched around an opening scoping the surrounding area, because this is 1st person I cant see him if he cant see me. I see him at the last second, catching the glint of his helmet in the corner of a window, I hit him in the head. We must have fired at the same time, the bullet hits the door beside my face. Man it was fun. In 3rd person we would have both been lying down looking over our respective ledges till one of us got bored and made a mistake. I dont want everyone to have to play 1st person, but it seems clear to me which is the more compelling way to play this game. From all the diehard defence of 3rd person exhibited here I say let people play what they want. You will never convince these people, why waste dev time on bandaid solutions for people who are happy to play an easily exploited camera angle. Ill stay on my 1st person server and love it and I invite you all to join me and see how much fun it can be :)
