Admins Shutting Servers Down When They Get Killed
CrazyCorky replied to Solopopo's topic in General Discussion
One way I could see to combat this is to still allow the admins to shut the server down but not bring it back up until some sort of investigation is done. However I do not know if there would be anyway to check previous events that happened in the game. If they can confirm something happened from a hacker then allow the hive to be rolled back. Sadly I know that after typing this out and thinking about the resources would not be available for something like to go into effect. Its one of those things that is hard to combat when the community has control of servers. Now if it was BI hosting servers I could see something along those lines working. -
150+ Hours in Day-Z and I have only seen once where the individual teleported directly to my position, kill me and then the same to each of my friends who were in strategic places around Elektro. It was not De-sync as there was no way for some one to know where they were at with that accuracy to teleport behind each of us and 1 shot us.

Admins Shutting Servers Down When They Get Killed
CrazyCorky replied to Solopopo's topic in General Discussion
I believe that you openly admit to server hopping shouldn't be held against you. However people have made suggestions on how you can avoid such things. You're not the only one to complain about and has been reported. As to your post referring to what I said I will gladly test it multiple times to help prove or disprove what's being said. However if we really want to implement a scientific method we would need more than just 1 server, and would have to possibly try it 100 times or more. If it's a known issue that's fine. Yes it is stated to be a known problem but it does not work 100% of the time. Even if the server is shut down right after the death you would be moving on to a different server anyway. So all that loot you thought you were getting you can get from a different server. -
Another big NEAF catch, 2 glitchers down :)
CrazyCorky replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
Nice!! I don't trek to the NEAF for this reason really. That and everyone else seems to go there to loot since all the spawns are on the East/NE coast now. -
Admins Shutting Servers Down When They Get Killed
CrazyCorky replied to Solopopo's topic in General Discussion
It's funny how you say I have had nothing to add to the post. I have tried what you suggested happens and can prove that it doesn't give gear back. All it does it keep the person who killed them from looting the body. Mind you when you kill some one 75% of the stuff is ruined anyway. So as I stated in my previous post just move onto the next server instead of killing the only other person on the server. Or god forbid move onto a new area to get loot. -

Let me go test it about another 30 times and I will let you know the outcome.... Wait.. Then I might get reported for abuse by someone server hopping and killing the only other person on the map. The death is instantly registered on the hive and it saves that position unlike when you are just standing around on a restart doing nothing. -

I can assure you that a server restart DOES NOT restore gear. After seeing this thread I tested it on mine with a friend. He killed me, I instantly restarted the server, Came back as a fresh spawn. Something such as death is something instantly recognized by the server and is saved to the hive. I also have to say that it's quite suspicious that you kill the only other person on the server. Why not just leave him be and move on to the next place? -
Not sure if trolling or just an idiot... I bought the game for the survival aspect and I understand that it's not fully developed. People will play the game for PvE when the content is there. The problem is that there isn't much to do now other than track down people and kill them.

Some people may be joining for the first time looking for a low pop server to get stuff done on. Or to get familiar with the map. So not really sure how I feel about this.

In a real life scenario military clothing is crap. It does not hold up as well as some of the alternatives out there. It's mass produced and its sold to the lowest bidder so the government can save money. Most of the hunting items/cargo pants and tact shirts would hold up better as it's meant for quality and to sell well. As for the tactical shirts that stuff is meant for general public who is/has worked in some sort of law enforcement or security type job. Overall I feel like we should have more options for "civilian clothes" that are equal to the military gear because I assure you I can find clothes that have just as much inventory space as the military stuff. In the end I don't feel like civilian gear needs to have some sort of bonus to it, i just feel like it needs to have more of a variety.
-
The question I have is: Why is everyone against having a lot of military gear in the game? I would like to think that if something like this happened the military/police would be the ones to respond. Therefore it is my idea that military loot would be as random as civilian loot. Everyone rushing to leave and find a safe place to live would not even bother with picking up items off the ground. Maybe I'm just looking at it from the wrong perspective. Edit: 1) Not only referring to weapons. I'm counting in the clothing/vests and equipment. 2) Also speaking of vehicles when they are implemented. 3) There is no "gun" that is strictly for military. Unless you're looking at some of the high end explosives/grenade launchers. Almost every weapon the military uses has some sort of civilian counter part. Meaning most of the time they are no longer fully automatic.

I'm interested to see how this will be implemented. I was hoping for some sort of deeper character immersion!

why isn't the zombie fix rocket's priority?
CrazyCorky replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
Also as they add in new things other things get broken. So I'm guessing that's what's going on. -
Just ensure that the gpu you're getting isn't using the ACX cooler. I've heard horror stories of the temps from those coolers. EVGA has 2 different coolers for this series gpu.

Why are you against many military items in game?
CrazyCorky replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
We don't know that it's specifically a military variant either. Games never get stuff right.. -
Who gives a shit if he died. The asshole skipping across the screen is clearly a hack. It's not desync when that happens. Desync is when you can't see shit around you moving at all. Stop down voting and trash talking all the people posting about stuff like this. It's the only way shit can get fixed. People trashing talking one another doesn't do anything besides make people want to keep quiet about problems.

Why does everyone consider the M4 to be a mil spec weapon?! It is also used by police all over the world as well as just in the US. -

Nah. Can still have it called the M4... People will still find a reason to bitch about it. -

Which gun is ONLY military? If you're referring the M4... My .308 rifle looks just like an M4. Same barrel length. Has a rail system. I don't have an ACOG but I do have a RDS. As I stated in my edit there are civilian versions of the M4 out there. And you can just as easily mistake a civilian built Rifle for an M4. Hell even the ones in use for the Military all across the board aren't fully automatic. -

I do agree with what's being said about C4, rockets, grenade launchers, as well as military vehicles. I feel like the vehicles should not primarily be military as you would just have people flying around mowing other people down. -
Something I was thinking about is a dynamic zombie ratio. Meaning that as player population increases in a certain radius the zombie population would increase. I understand that something like this could not be implemented until the zombie/item respawn system is in place. Also wouldn't be as effective unless the zombie strength is increased or a way to make zombies more of the actual threat. I believe this would make it interesting for the large groups that roam from place to place or camp the more focused loot locations. Could also cause problems as "clan wars" break out. Something I thought would be interesting and might add some more depth/survival aspect to the game.
-
That's the problem without the respawn of Z's in the game it's really hard to make any sort of suggestion about it. Hopefully it's something they fix soon so we can see how it will work.
-
I think I may not have gotten the idea across that well. Let me try to add more detail to it. So depending on server capacity you have a set minimum amount of Zs. In cities you would have more than in an outlying town. As player population increased in said area the Z population would increase. This wouldn't be as drastic as one person causing the increase, it would take at minimum 5 people to cause this increase if not more. For those of you saying this would give you an idea of people being in the area... Well depending on your play style you would know anyway by watching from a distance. I never played the mod so not sure how this idea worked there. But if done correctly it could create some exciting adventures
