What happens after the player logs off has also been discussed much, without a satisfactory solution. I once proposed to have the character appear sleeping (even snoring :) ) while afk but u can't have someone take a nap in a hostile world for a week! I think the best choice, from the ones presented to date, is that the player "diggs in" before logging off. It would take a while before u prepare an appropriate hiding place for u and your stuff and even longer if u would like to burry not just yourself and loot, but also your vehicule. After having your hide-out ready u then log off and everything in contact with your character disappears untill u log in again. This seems to work fine with rocket's idea of underground bases that are not part of the world. -

The weather/season's good and the radio with different frequencies for exclusive chat is excellent. Other sugestions have been discussed before, but still valid for arguing about. A note to Gews about weapons: they should all be in the game, but in different degrees of scarcity and their ammo should be even scarcer to non-existent. It is not unrealistic that as infection broke loose, all military resources came to play in a global scale and from all countries. It then stands to reason that these forces fought to the best of their ability, (last shot,) before being overun. Would be cool to have to decide on your old trusty shotgun with more ammo or the .50 of two shots ;) -

The idea of getting infected when attacked by a carrier and very low on health is good. How about the equipment to slowly deteriorate over time? I can't imagine someone in a manic state taking good care of their night vision goggles :)

They are not zs, they are infected. Been told like a milion times all over. Under this perspective, screemers sounds good, for even rabies infected animals show different levels of brain function. Voodooator's right though, if screemers have their own skin, they will be peaked off first from afar. Instead, having a chance for every infected to be one sounds more interesting. -

I would think, different button for each limb/hits with whatever's there, (boot for foot, knife for hand, helmet for head etc) should be enough... if not overcomplicated.

How about drawing on cars and being able to "spice" them with explosives in different places? Then u could write: "This is mine and it's booby-trapped!"

Shoes/running relation is a good idea. If clothes/cold is implemented I don't see why they would have trouble with that. The trick is to not elaborate too much, (like different items have different qualities for such indicators). Otherwise we will end up having all people dressed similar and bandits going to killing sprees for a good pair... by the way, have you seen the new adidas technology? :-)

Modern military issue, even from other countries could make sense if one imagined that there was an international effort to contain the infection. Vintage weapons would be far harder to come by...

Someone explain plz how come it is perfectly logical to have enfields and winchesters in russia, but draw the line to shotguns...

15+ years ago, there was a period of "high political instability" in Albania. Military warehouses were opened and everyone was running about with an AK. Even today criminals use these same weapons to rob banks in Greece.

I want a minigun, firing shotgun shells and a troll that would shoulder the 23000 rounds that I would need for my less then two minute burst :-P

Octarine had an interesting idea about killing infected and their respawn. It's in this thread. If I may, how about the less spawns for an efficient z-kiler to be faster and more dangerous? It makes sense, cause all the easier ones are assumed to be allready dealt with.

Not so... Ha, thought of leaving my reponce to that ;-) For most people, npcs are anathema and this is not the appropriate subject venue to discuss it, (for like the nth time!) What I suggested was an incentive for further "interacting" with the infected. You could kill them and be safe, or you could try to capture/treat and then, just before they are on their way and dissappear, get a bit of specialized know how that they might have, or not. If you think of these as npcs, then so are all the infected lurking, perhaps we should throw them out of the game too.
