    This is getting old...

    It's kind of true though. Even before DayZ there were hilarious ways for hackers to fuck up everyones game in Arma2. This must be the only game engine i know where a hacker can fucking take control over server functions like this, and frankly i don't think it's easily fixable - because if it was, this sort of thing had been made impossible years before DayZ.
  2. I don't think PKers are insane, just bog-standard e-pricks who abuse the general lack of slapping distance on the internetses, unleashing their inner asshole because they are too afraid to do so in the real world.

  4. I really wish they would just not drop any of these patches on fridays. Because if they turn out to be bad, you know that nothing will be fixed over the weekend.

  6. I'm starting to wonder if the new "exponential sight range" is like exponential light falloff, which never really gets to 0 even far far away. That might explain why zombies see people from hilarious distances now. Or if there is actually a maximum range in the equation somewhere. But if there is a max-range, it must be really high at the moment.

    Getting this as well. It is most likely is a validation process with BE or something. I'm not sure, never had this happen with any of the other beta patches before at least. I got into one server ( where i was kicked for "high ping", even tho that server is in the same country as me, they must have some incredibly anal admins setting their limits ) and none other since then. I really hope this isn't a patch with a showstopper bug that won't be fixed for days because its weekend.

    I get a lot of freezing on the "Loading" screen with this patch now. Going to Task Manager shows that arma2oa.exe is using 0% CPU as well when that happens.
  14. So many Yes-Voters seem to think that bandits will let them get even remotely close enough to look at them or check them for things like "blood splatter". Good luck finding such a polite ( and stupid ) bandit ;)
  15. No. Seems too situational. Requires a really bad guy ( who probably has amazing gear by then and much to lose ) to be near you, AND letting you take a good look at him.
  16. Maybe because people don't bother trusting others any more and just evade each other as good as possible. Or more server hopping. Is Life tracked over the actual play-time or just a difference between the current time and when the character first spawned on the coast ? Because then just not logging in for a few days probably does wonders to "life time" as well.
  17. Isn't it because Arma2 simulates a person, and people usually do not twitch-move as fast as a high sensitivity mouse does ? I know, its a shocking revelation.
  18. MAYBE Not fond of the flies idea, since dead bodies have that already. Crows might be interesting tho. Or bring back bandit skins and make them unable to use custom skins, because they are bandits and bandits are too cool for school, and also too cool to bother with special outfits ;).

It's pretty funny, the "improved tonemapping" change in one of the beta patches actually made me think that their HDR eye adaption may now work properly ( eyes slowly adapting even to very dark surroundings ), or at least give us 2 more shades of grey to see things in the pitch black nights with high brightness settings. But apparently it makes things even darker now. Nobody in their right mind ( and without NVG ) bothers playing at night with the current state of the game, you're just exposing yourself to bandits with NightVision or Zombies that you will likely see too late. Switching the lights on is just an invitation to get killed, even if it looks kind of neat and atmospheric.
