DayZ 1.7.1 Discussion - Others will be locked/deleted!

at first i thought the changes were awesome, adding difficulty to a game whose premise is 'maximum difficulty' seemed like the greatest thing. but now the game is too slow. the zombie sensory range is enormous, so i am walking at a snails pace for 2 hours to probably not even get the gear i need to head north. crouch walking and going prone through entire cities just takes so long (and it's not as fun as being able to go faster for short bursts), and then that one zombie who saw you on the road from a mile away regardless comes running. without a weapon, right there, loses the whole game. you either escape well into the distant mountains skipping all loot, or respawn. but either way you are starting over. it is also extremely frustrating that not a single one of my friends wants to play anymore because it is too hard for them. i think the game stopped being fun. -
flashlight equipped secondary, lots of different types of secondary ammo in slot just in case i get a gun later. every single time i drop or pick up a primary gun all my secondary ammo is dumped. this sucks. my vote is to not automatically dump any type of ammo ever. i am perfectly capable of deciding if i want to keep it or not.

i love the new hopper animations. running speed of all types and ability to get away are way in the right direction. the new sensory ranges are killing me everywhere... starting without gear is HARD and i love it, but getting my friends to our group spot is nearly impossible now heh. poor bastards. i love that the rewards of finding gear means so much again, but at the same time sometimes i just want ride up with my friends to shoot things.

just updated fully with the six software (1.7.1 and latest arma 2 beta) and joined my favorite (no crosshairs / no 3rd person) server. it seemed like every hit or every 3 hits max from zombies started my bleeding. normal zombies and military. went from 3 to 0 bandages in 5 minutes or something. anyone else see this, or is it a server setting they can tweek?

if you're in shock and log out, when you log back in you will pass out like this.

confirmed 1.7.0 with arma2 beta 9361. this afternoon i put on civilian clothing. i did lag out and log in again to the same server (ny17), then a friend came on and logged into a different server (forget which). just now (several hours after) logging in to ny22 was dumped in the ocean next to two people wearing ghillie suits and im pretty sure another guy wearing civilian. couldn't move anywhere if i wanted. it makes me feel like it is on purpose (shifting into maximum overtroll, etc) which would be pretty funny. what coordinates is this ocean on the map? is it a debug area? logging in says 'Wilderness'. i can see land in one direction, and by the sun (it's cloudy) i'm mostly sure it's in the west. it doesn't look like any coordinates like 0x,0y or similar. everyone still has their packs which is strange because in water for that long there's no way, but primary inventory and even secondary weapon/ammo is all gone. pulling items from other peoples packs deletes them right away. this is the last time, never wearing clothing again until i see confirmed reports of them working again.

don't forget about people who may be legitimately disconnected from servers. i have lagged out several times and had client crashes (one time i am pretty sure it was the server that ran out of memory and crashed everyone). also, i don't know what the desync timeout is right now, but it is very large. i have experienced the full use of it many times (saving me from being completely disconnected). connection in general to the game servers is pretty... loose, which at this point i consider a good thing. the point im trying to make is if it is easy to differentiate between people who hit the 'exit' button, and people crash/lagging out, then by all means, fuck a server jumpers day up. 15 to 30 seconds gets my vote.

adding this back since it was wiped during the db restore. requesting the bandit skin as a loot item.

few times now friends and i have looked at our watches at the same time and seen completely different times. last night on the same server some of us were playing during the day and some at night (people who connected later were entering with day light while the people on before transitioned into night already). does the time of the server sync accurately between everyone? does it do like a rough estimation only when you connect? can server admins change the time of the server whenever they want to suit their needs? do watches simply not work (on purpose)?

been playing 10hrs now, this game is fucking awesome. i am a frequent gun reloader though, and one thing that would help is being able to see how much ammo is in each clip to possibly replace the lowest ones or to combine rounds from one into another. woot.
