Need help with DayZ and other PC build
Death_Dealer replied to Ace6564's topic in Technology/Programming
Does everything include monitor, keyboard, and mouse? As for the build itself, this thread should help you - http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/196501-gaming-pc-budget-builds/ -
How expensive can setting up a custom water loop get? Say if you only water cooled the CPU? I have no experience with custom water cooling.
-
I didn't see it till after reloading the page  Why'd you give me beans for quoting a post? lol Anyway, 60-65 C under load is not dangerously high at all. Those are actually pretty good load temps. 80+ C is when you need to start worrying.
-
To me it seems incredibly stupid to spend an extra $100 on a processor JUST for DayZ, especially when the future of the game isn't looking very promising.
-
No, gr8mghtyp00 suggested a build then said "leaving $220 for case/psu/ram". Why would you get a 3570k and a $300 GPU but then leave only $220 for ram, psu, AND a case? The PSU is one of if not the most important parts of the build, and the case can be one too if you want your PC to actually look somewhat decent.
-
$220 seems extremely tight for RAM, PSU and case, unless you went with subpar quality parts.
-
Wow, that edge.

Er sorry, I didn't mean to look at the google results. There should be that little shopping section in the top, all of the filters shown are from Silverstone which is a reliable brand. Apologies for the vagueness This would work fine, though it's a bit large - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999249 I don't think they come in smaller sizes as these are intended to be used on computer cases. If you do get a laptop cooler and it's made of metal, you should be able to slap it on the back to help prevent gunk and dust getting into the computer
-
It's just frustrating when people ask "where do I get this please give link" when it takes literally 5 seconds to google and get a whole list of stuff. There is no reliable brand for dust filters, it's just a piece of plastic mesh with magnets.
-
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=magnetic+dust+filter I also suggested that laptop cooler on the other thread, which is only $30
-
DayZ relies more on CPU power than GPU power, but you should be able to run it fine (at least by DayZ standards) as the 4700HQ is a pretty beefy mobile processor. And this is why I hate the term "bottleneck"
-
You could DIY an elevated laptop stand, where most of the bottom is completely open for airflow. Hell you could also add some magnetic dust filters to it as well.
-
Oh that's the clip to hold the USB cable, it can be moved wherever or you can just leave it off. The picture that shows all the parts included shows that the clip can be taken off
-
I don't see any mention of that problem in the reviews. Which clips are you specifically talking about, the little things poking up from the fans? If so, I doubt that would be a problem at all. Even if they do touch the laptop, it should all sit evenly.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997872 3 fans (powered via USB), non slip support, 19" (for the extra side room), $30, supposedly quiet from reading the reviews, fans can be placed wherever, and it's made by Cooler Master so it should be a pretty solid product.

What screen capturing software do you use?
Death_Dealer replied to archamedes's topic in Technology/Programming
What a tremendous help you are @OP Dxtory is a great program to record with as frame loss is usually minimal, however it costs about $30. Here's the site: http://exkode.com/dxtory-features-en.html -
Well that's disappointing. Nevermind on the wait then

I haven't played DayZ in quite a while, but the game isn't very GPU heavy, it depends more on the CPU. But the 770 runs all current games on max settings fine. I suggested waiting for the 800 series since it's coming very soon and it seems kind of silly to go with a 700 series GPU right before the 800 series GPUs come out. I would wait till they are released so you know what the specs and pricing are of each new card, and make your decision from there. And if none of the interest you or they cost too much, then yes the price of the 700 series GPUs should decrease in due time. Are these builds you're showing hypothetical or are you actually wanting to upgrade? If so, what is your max budget? Just a little confusing to me since it went from $2000+ to $1000
-
I would suggest going with the 8GB (2x4GB) kit of ram instead of the 16GB kit if this is a gaming rig, you'll save literally $100. Put that money towards some aftermarket fans for the H105, such as Corsair's SP120 fans or even some Noctua fans. The included fans are pretty shit. I would also switch the PSU out for a Corsair AX760, it's more efficient, cheaper, and fully modular. I also don't see a hard drive, just a 500GB SSD. I would downgrade the SSD to 256 or 128GB and get at least a 1TB drive (Western Digital Blue/Black or Seagate Barracuda are all fine choices) for mass storage. The processor choice is kind of eh for me. If this is a strictly gaming rig then I would definitely go with just a 4670k and save about another hundred dollars. Also, I would wait for Nvidia's new 800 series GPUs which are (rumored) to come out sometime later this year. What you listed is more of an enthusiast build, and pretty damn overkill for gaming. If your current build is serving you well, then don't upgrade :)

Type some random filler words/letters and post the image link itself. Don't upload it to the forums, just paste the link as text. Example: test http://i.imgur.com/zsrivC0.jpg -

As long as it's .jpg you should have literally no problems getting it to upload to tinypic or imgur -

Try posting the image link itself instead of embedding it Image uploading sites should not be an issue. If they are, then the image might have an invalid extension -

Then try uploading to tinypic.com, copy the image link, click the little picture icon (below and to the left of the smiley face), paste the image link, and post. -
