Because it simply wouldn't be worth it. You go through all the trouble to get the car running, then the next day it's gone. Realism taken this far is not fun. DayZ should be an enjoyable experience, not a hardcore smash-your-keyboard simulator. However, I do agree that operating a car should be much more complex than how it is now in ArmA 2.
-
^ Agreed. At that point it would just be too frustrating to operate something that will probably be stolen the next day.
-
Holy wall of text and pictures, that was actually a really interesting read. Reminds me of the old DayZ times. Man, do I ever miss them... :(
-
What about taking over pre-existing buildings? It would be a step safer than camps, but still not 100% safe. Both zombies and players would be able to break down the barricaded doors and windows.
-
There is no such thing as "phicopatism". As for the killing unarmed survivors penalty, I personally don't think it's a good idea to add restrictions like that. Once people realize how much harder it will be to survive in the SA, they won't be running around killing for sport.
-
Well that would sure keep the kiddies from driving cars. :P

About texture loading distance
Death_Dealer replied to Felixthefriendlycat's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Downloading that standalone build off the webz is basically stealing from the devs. Even if your friend downloaded it. You're playing with stolen property. Again, it's very disrespectful. It wasn't supposed to be leaked in the first place. -
About texture loading distance

No, because it's downright rude and disrespectful to the devs. -
There needs to be some sort of way for people to create maps for the standalone. Believe it or not, but Chernarus isn't going to be fun forever.

Can't Decide... Mk 48 Mod 0 or... M4A3 CCO?
Death_Dealer replied to measter85's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Mk48 obviously. One shot kill, tons of ammo, looks cool as hell. -
Not true at all. My laptop is far from amazing yet I get good performance on ArmA 2. (40-50 FPS on normal settings) CPU: i7 2670QM @ 2.20 GHz GPU: GeForce GT 540M Yeah, not very impressive. --- Anyhow, both ArmA 2, with or without the DayZ mod, is very CPU intensive and poorly optimized. It is completely normal for someone to lag significantly in cities, even with a beefy rig. I've yet to find a decent fix for this other than turning down some video settings. The sudden drop in GPU/CPU usage when entering cities could be from the poor optimization in ArmA 2 and DayZ.

What would you like to see added to Chernarus?
Death_Dealer replied to dajeroen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A second island is also being added just below Utes[1]. -
Solution: Buy a better processor. You can get a good one for around 200 USD. Other than that, you're screwed for now.
-
How dare you!

What would you like to see added to Chernarus?
Death_Dealer replied to dajeroen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket confirmed a prison will be added to the map. -
This makes reading DayZ urban legends 100x more creepy and epic. Mtn Dew curse is 100% real by the way. Also known as the Ministry of Dean conspiracy. They put many toxic chemicals in the drink... Some are immune to it, but most aren't.

I have Dayz Shell Shock - anyone else, or am I just a wuss?
Death_Dealer replied to indalcecio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think everyone felt this way with their first DayZ character. I know I did. I'd only go to small towns like Pustoshka for supermarket goodies. The rest of the time was spent running/driving through thick forests tent-hunting. I finally racked up enough nerve to hit the NWAF, then I started to loosen up. Next day went down to the coast (Berezino, Cherno) which was a huge step for me. Now I just go anywhere I want. Always tell yourself that the gear will not last forever, and you should enjoy it while you can instead of hiding in the forest. :P Explore the map, that should really help. -
Who is your best friend in Dayz?
Death_Dealer replied to G000gle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What are you, 12? Grow the fuck up. -
Yeah I don't know either. Thought it was some sort of input mistake at first...
-
Rocket stated the standalone should run much smoother than the mod. He also said, whatever FPS you get in ArmA 2 now (not with DayZ), is about what you should expect with the standalone. No sources cause I can't be bothered but I'm pretty sure this is what was stated.
-
Well, it just simply wouldn't work. As stated above, the skins would be way too complex to make something even remotely close to looking decent.
-
Good idea in theory but it wouldn't work too well. Too many naked people, clowns, strippers, prostitutes, troll skins, etc.
-
eh...

The number one issue my friends talk about is how the game has turned into kill on sight.
Death_Dealer replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can pretty much guarantee you it will be the same in the standalone. The only way to prevent a large amount of shooting-on-sight incidents is to force players to work together, which is exactly what the devs don't want to do.
