The mod is just way too repetitive. And don't tell me that I don't use my "imagination" enough because there isn't that much stuff to do. Actually surviving (in the mod) is boring and frustrating. It was fun at first, but now it's the complete opposite. This is why most of us are extremely anxious to play the standalone. That's also why people now resort to just killing each other. Most of the mods (Origins, Breaking Point) are all trash, too. Tedious and buggy. You like to watch Frankie and others play DayZ more than playing it yourself because they only show the interesting and action-packed moments. All the walking, running, and scavenging is cut out. 60% of DayZ is walking and running through forests and empty towns, this is probably why you don't feel like playing anymore. There's no real survival feel to it. Starvation and dehydration isn't something you worry about. Finding a place to stay for the cold, wet night isn't something you worry about. Putting forth effort to hunt and feed yourself isn't something you worry about.

Chernobyl + DayZ really needs to happen. Imagine being alone in Pripyat during the night, total darkness... sends shivers down me spine.

Probably the most original (in a good way) mod I've ever seen. The custom areas actually look like they're part of the original Chernarus map, which is extremely hard to come by nowadays. Can't wait to play it. :) I especially loved the cave systems. That was REALLY damn cool. Never seen anything like that before.

In the wilderness, towns, and airfields I get anywhere from 60 to 90 FPS, but it drops to 40 in cities. first world problems

AA is the only thing I have set off and post-processing is only on high, everything else is very high. Can't really tell the difference with AA on, it just hinders performance significantly.

Not entirely true. I can easily pull 80-90 FPS on very high settings, ArmA 2/DayZ is just like a gamble, you either get great performance or shitty performance.

The infection rate is ridiculously high, and it shouldn't onset immediately. Melee, though, is OP. Tell me, do you have a magic hatchet or machete that hit things from 4+ feet away? No. It's easy as shit to kill zombies via melee without getting hit. Perhaps you just need some more practice.

Just have a spam filter or something. I'm pretty sure it's also possible to block all bad words if you want to be that extreme. I've seen plenty of large forums with a chatbox, none of which had abuse problems. If you abuse, your account gets banned, zero shits given; simple as that.
