Encouraging more co-operation in the mid-game
Slyguy65 replied to Yeah Cain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agree. See what you people don't understand is that since it is not your actual life at stake people will just kill for shits and giggles in fact right now thats all people do since there is no reason they shouldnt...to compensate for it not actually being real life shit like the stuff TC mentioned need to be implemented there needs to be more forced cooperation but more in the form of how bloodpacks work. Bloodpacks are THE ONLY thing that requires another persons assistance. But now that hunting and cooking is out steak apparently is a nice alternative to that now... It is asinine to have more reasons to kill than to cooperate in a survival game with other people. -

DayZ has become Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch
Slyguy65 replied to underpaidorphan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game is meant to be ambiguous. Not a straight up survival or PVP experience. I wish people understood that but than again most gamers are one dimensional to ask them to view a shooting game as something other than a shooter...well some people just say NOPE its a shooter so i will shoot people and only that. With the popularity growing the majority will soon be under the category of "most gamers" -
OMFG yes i know there are many towns where there is only one enter able building in the whole town all that is needed is to get rid of some of the closed ones and replace it with opened ones nuff said.

Nya...i like the way ya think kid... More realistic way to have friends spawn on you...or spawning together, i saw that there are these random shacks of concrete with blue doors, that look to be underground bunker entrances. I was thinking those could be spawn points instead of the coast and if you wanted to spawn with or near friends you just choose the closets bunker entrance. I might make a topic later if this thread dies cause i think its a great idea...no not just cause i thought of it on the fly but because i think it could actually work. P.S it would make sense to spawn at a bunker with a gun and minor supplies than a coastline with gun and supplies...just saying. It would be kind of like how vaults work in fallout ya know?

By private parties i of course mean teamspeaks, mumble, ventrilo, steam talk. Due to the new mindset of players in DayZ now, which is: "OMFG EVERYONE IS A BAD GUY THEY ALL MUST DIE" Or something along those lines, everyone just shoots first and asks questions later. Now i know there are other topics dealing with that specific issue but what im hear to talk about is how it is affecting other aspects such as teamwork and communication. I feel as though this mod IS degenerating into a class system. THE POOR- will be the lone survivor who just wants to play the game it was meant to be played; surviving, taking calculated risks, just treating things like a gamble. Except it isn't a gamble anymore it is nothing but keeping your head down and doing nothing but avoiding other players. This is what bugs me it has turned a MULTIPLAYER mod into this, you should not view all players as a threat, but that is now the mindset and for the "poor" there is no reason to play this since there is apparently a single player version out somewhere. THE MIDDLE CLASS- This and the poor are most players, the middle class are people who have some form of outside communication app (vent, TS) and browse for a DAYZ channel, While that is all fine and dandy it then only feels as though i am now playing a coop zombie mission with hostile NPCs and a group of players....which seems to satisfy most but IMO becomes boring since you know that the other people should be unknown factors...not obvious threats. Plus there are not very many dayz teamspeaks (the app i use) i found about 3 or 4 public ones with only around 5-15 people on at a time and it tends to be the same people so it feels very closed. THE RICH CLASS- Your probably wondering who the rich are right? Well i can tell you it is a small percent but not why you think. The Rich class are like the middle class but are in clans or specific groups of people and always play together. Becoming "rich" is not hard if your middle class since it is a sort of unspoken rule that people on the teamspeak, mumble, vent, don't kill each other. So it is easy to play with some random people and talk to them for an hour or two and become friends then rinse and repeat till you have your own dayz group. The downside is the same as middle class you essentially just end up playing like a coop zombie with hostile NPCs (this is why rich is rare since the rich are essentially the same as middle class just more adamant on playing with specific people instead of random friendlies) another slight difference is that when your "rich" you will actually be the hostile NPCs in the other players mind since when your "rich" you will most likely hunt down other players since there is nothing else to do. (NOTE: middle class do this too but rich are more likely to all agree and hunt people down since middle class usually are always trying to decide what to do) (The oppressed always become the oppressors and vice versa) The point of this post is just to point out how eventually the "lone survivor" will be extinct, if that happens the game really wouldn't be what it was meant to be i mean the motto is "This is DayZ this is your story" when in reality it will be "This is DayZ...you better get teamspeak or something or your F*CK'D". P.S I think later down the road it might just become rich vs rich meaning instead of deathmatch as it is now...it will just be TDM, then it really will be Elder Scrolls:CoD Long Story Short: Today-Deathmatch Tomorrow-Team Deathmatch Can it be prevented?

See i saw that and i thought i should point that out. I have seen many a game where this is true and your right. But the community (people on the forums) the people who are quite interested in this game. Don't wish for it to be a straight up FPS deathmatch (at least for the most part...i hope) The point is the "community" that is causing the game to suck in some aspects are like people who are struck blind deaf and dumb. There is no reaching them on a mass scale. Except by changing the thing they are affecting (which is the game) So while you are correct in saying it is the "community" or players fault it doesn't mean the game can't be changed to change how they act. If there were more elements that required teamwork this would not be such an issue but as of now THE ONLY REASON TO TRULY cooperate with someone is bloodpacks. There needs to be more things added that force cooperation. If that is done there would not be so much insensitive to shoot on sight. But if features that force cooperation are implemented too late (by the time everyone just sticks with their own private party) then it will have been too late since the Team deathmatch age will be in affect. But that still does not mean groups shooting other groups on sight can't be solved. If there was a way to inspire cooperation between groups then that would solve the future TDM issue. One thing i can think of is taking over towns and making them a settlement or a "safe haven" of some kind if teams become a big thing like shooting on sight is now hopefully the zombie count will be big enough to require such cooperation. Well i said all that really could be said from me on this topic ill just let people post. -

It is just lazy to kill on sight since everyone has the same mindset they don't feel like breaking from the cycle and attempting communication. People are supposed to be an unknown factor a GAMBLE when they shoot on sight it is the same thing as playing against AI or any other FPS out there. Playing like that becomes very one dimensional. Which is what most shooters are so it is very understandable why dayz is becoming this way. It is just sad to see something unique degenerate into something that we already have in some other form. -
Adding the element of "Escape" (Zombie movement, adrenaline, Line of Sight)
Slyguy65 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
NOTE: This is not meant to make the game "easier" i just think it would be nice to add some way to escape without demanding you have bullets. Since last time i checked guns were super rare in zombie/apocalypse settings and that most of the time you had to "RUN" and "HIDE" and with this sneak system and gun rarity i would assume the developers think the same way. NOTE:This suggestion deals with line of sight and zombie movement. Ive been playing for quite awhile now and i have noticed some things. One thing i noticed about this "survival" mod is that you can't really "survive" unless you have some kind of ammo for some kind of weapon. Yes yes i know you can "sneak" past the zombies and what not but if you get just one zombie on you and you have no ammo...your done for, which is just lame. --=My suggestion is this.==-- Would it be too much to ask for zombies to run at the same speed or some what slower so that prolonged running will eventually lead to a distance gain by the survivor? Also to have the zombies follow a line of sight rule once they spot a survivor. Right now they seem to be omniscient (i.e i had about 3 crawlers and 2 hoppers on me i ran from one town to another, a 5 minute run, while stopping and checking some things for a few minutes i see them coming over the mountain still chasing me...) ----HOW IT WOULD WORK------ ==Line of Sight== If your in an open field and there is not tall mountain or hill ya you will be kind of screwed. BUT if there are hills and buildings you have a chance to ditch some or all the zombies chasing you. if you can run around a multiple structures where you and the zombies lose sight of each other than you have possibly escaped. they will stop "chasing" you but they will now patrol that new area they are in looking for their lost prey. For those who might think "So i can just run in a buildings and ill have lost them TOO EASY" and you would be...WRONG they would not be that stupid all the zombies that saw you enter the building would then enter that building looking for you...also if your in a hanger or large building where you can't really break line of sight than they will still come straight for you this tactic would only work in buildings like the apartment buildings in cherno where you have multiple floors and a lot of walls. to break LOS, and like i said breaking LOS in a building is really just buying you time since they will find you eventually. This could lead to new tactics A) if you are being chased by zombies and a person you can run and hide and if you succeed you have just created a group of zombies around your position that should effectively drive off the person hunting you but of course it is a double edged sword if the zombies find you hiding before the other person gives up you will have lost. B) you could lead zombies into buildings and if they have a "backdoor" you could sneak out that back door and effectively escape the horde you brought in the building with you. This brings me to zombie movement INSIDE buildings right now they walk in buildings which is good, that is how they would "patrol" the area when losing their target but if they spot you and your right next to them they would do a quick sprint at you (around 3 feet they would lunge at you) so you either run around the building, get vertical if possible or just get the F out of there. Or just shoot them in the building while keeping your distance. ==Zombie movement== I would like to see some kind of change in zombie movement it seems so clunky how they run at insane speeds than pause; which is about the only time to shoot them. I would like a more fluid zombie movement that allows for constant panic. I just wish for a more fluid running zombie. Example-The running zombies would move at a very slightly reduced speed so you could eventually gain distance and escape/turn and kill OR the zombies would run at the same speed as you and to gain distance (to either shoot them or escape) you would have an adrenaline rush, the adrenaline rush would be initiated by hitting your "sprint" button BTW but instead of how sprinting is now, where you can only do it if rested, you would be able to sprint whenever but you would get hungry and/or thirsty 2x's as quick, also a new icon would appear indicating when your in an adrenaline rush, (it would work slightly different from sprinting, instead of having to HOLD your sprint button you would just hit the sprint button to turn adrenaline ON and hit it again or stop and rest for it to turn off. -
Adding the element of "Escape" (Zombie movement, adrenaline, Line of Sight)

I am just stating how i think zombies should work in this game. When its an interactive experience there should always be multiple ways of dealing with things' date=' right now its either sneak, shoot, or die. I am merely suggesting another element be added so as to add more depth. [hr']
