Do you not read patch notes? Every patch since 1.7.1 has includes changes to zombie behaviour/fixes. Just sayin *facepalm* yes i know those consist of method of detection (LOS' date='heaing) IM TALKING ABOUT THE ZOMBIES PHYSICS....there has not been a single patch since i played that dealt with the BS of that. [hr'] Im not saying how to make the mod, i am just pointing out the obvious bullshit. If you walked into a neighbors house and you saw dog shit everywhere...would you say something or just pretend like it isn't there? OR would you be the person who thinks "oh dog shit everywhere...well im sure he has his reasons" Well i know which one i am, i will walk in examine how much dogshit is actually in the house and where it is then i will say "hey dude why is there dogshit in your hallway, kitchen, etc. I will demand what fucked up reasoning he has, from there i will accept he is just weird and likes dog shit or i will try and advise him how dogshit is smelly and how it should not be laying around the floor like decor. -

HEY! hey there buddy i believe the last two words at the end of the post. (the detention of "just sayin" disregards any potential negative feelings) great post - timesink is totally the word for the long journeys on foot or crawling. I am coming to think that Arma is a great military sim but Dayz is like Zelda - the main purpose is collecting "truffles" and other goodies. Hoarding them and then showing off like a MMPORG Each time human player finds a truffle he gets a little shot of "feel good" hormones which keep him playing. This is standard "timesink" stuff - Warfare is sooo much better. Ya i like playing domination when the bullshit of DayZ gets too tiring i like your analogy it is fitting with the MMO feel. Always getting a tad of dopamine to keep you going for more. -

actually your wrong' date=' there is a very very early black and white movie where a zombie is raised from the dead at a mansion and he goes round killing people (he is a zombie brought back to life via voodoo*) cant remember the name but i used to watch that and Night of the living dead a lot. [EDIT'] its called White Zombie... I think it was called something different on the UK release I had but its about 1 zombie going nuts... *early interpretations of zombies are the classic Romero zombies and then there was the Voodoo zombies... even in the Night of the living dead, the first zombie (cemetery zombie) kills Johnny and almost kills barbra... Then on top of that, these are considered INFECTED so you can then go down that path of 28 days later/ l4d route (and Rocket even said this on a recent video that they are alive and infected, you should check it out as its on the dayz news tweet thing) [Another edit] Just realised how much of a zombie geek I am :S [ANOTHER EDIT!!!!] I just remembered a recent movie with a CRAZY zombie fight... 1v1 too and its AMAZING (best fight with a zombie in any movie yet) the movie is called HORDE (or La HORDE) and its basically L4D the movie... a knife fighter goes crazy with his blade on two zombies... its amazing. there is a 1v1 with a chick too but I dont want to spoil the movie lol. <-------------------- WATCH THIS NOW! it is amazing... you should all buy the movie Ah yes the white zombie lol you mean GRUNDY? LOLOL seriously though i mean they are the same thing. Voodoo white... yaaa zombie strong. And well night of the living dead first off it was one of those "caught off guard" zombie deaths usually the first hundred or so victims in the zombie apocalypse will be idiots or confused or just not expecting it. BUT SEE we are at the stage where the shit has hit the sky the fan is no where in comparison. SO for you to get one hit by a zombie is pretty bullshit with super high health. Plus this is alpha and for it to be a bug is 90% more likely than it being intended. -

Having your heartbeat faster around a bandit makes no sense since to be honest. REALISTICALLY your heart would race ANY time you see another person in a desolate zombie nation (i know mine does when i see someone zoom by the entrance of the building im in) There should be more to it (more distinguishing traits between good and bad characters) I mean come on for anyone who has ever seen MAD MAX or WATER WORLD or THE ROAD, BOOK OF ELI, FIST OF THE NORTH STAR, just any kind of apocalypse like settings. EVERY interpretation has bandit types, good vigilante types and scavenger/survivor types. Mad Max, Water World, The Road, Fist of north star -crazy uniforms and crazy people doing crazy evil things Book of Eli, Fist of North star, The Road Thugs who stole and killed/ate scavengers and survivors NOTE:cannibalism would be an interesting addition due to the (should be) possibility of being "infected" and/or the inhumane need to survive also the stench and shakes could help indicate who are cannibals. Those are very very general depictions, the point is there is ALWAYS some indication of who was bad good or just scared. NOTE: if you can think of over 5 other depictions where there was an apocalypse setting where there was NEVER any distinction between who was good/non evil be my guest. (Clockwork orange is maybe the only one that comes close but even then...he still did not look like a good person) I mean the excuse for no indication of good or bad right now is "well you wouldn't know who is a killer or bad person in real life" uh ya that is a lazy excuse since the aforementioned depictions clearly portray good and bad and neutral well in a real life setting. I mean honestly it portrays all the people in DayZ as sociopaths (you can't tell if they are a ruthless killer or your neighbor). Which is just absurd and unrealistic. -

You know a way to find other people, by following trails they left behind (footsteps, blood, empty food/drink cans) NOTE:Food and drinks should leave trash behind (the items already exist in game empty tin can would be food, empty soda can would be well ya.) It would allow for people who are lonely or in the mood to kill get a nice idea of how far away other people are. How it would work-If you ever played mount and blade warband you could inspect tracks and are then given a a quick message saying how old they are (similar to "study body" on a dead person in dayz). To expand upon the whole tracking or avoidance feature if you enter a building you could "analyze" the area via smell perhaps and a message saying "nothing out of the ordinary" if no one had been there within the last 10-15 minutes. But if someone had been there you would get a message saying "Smells like person" or "Definitely not zombie" Or if it was female character who had been there the message would read "Something smells fishy" lol i kid ...or do i? But seriously one last thing that would help you know if you were alone in the area would be inspecting loot piles perhaps (some will say "well how would you know if someone had taken anything recently") For the anal realists i would have to say the way to know if a survivor had been by would to be to look at the items and see if there was smudge or recent dirt on it. If no one had been there then it would say "these items have not been touched recently" if someone had checked the loot pile that was inspected it would say "these items have been disturbed" or something. P.S the way you would "inspect" and analyze would of course be simple mouse wheel options. -

Ya the way they make the zombies "stronger" is stupid or just plain asinine choose your word. Zombies in EVERY interpretation have been shown to only be scary or powerful in large NUMBERS and not individually (aside from *special* infected but there aren't any in this game soooo ya) you should not even be able to get one hit KO unless under 5k and every 1k lower you get the rate of being 1hit KO doubles that would make sense. -

So ya i was messing with the game trying to get it to run windowed but im like F that too much hassle not worth it so i changed the file in my documents back (copy pasted so i know it is back at default) anyway. I set the video setting back to default my resolution fitting my computer resolution which is 1920x1080 but now the icons and text is all so damn small it was fine before. But now it is literally twice as small. ANY suggestions?

If it is being taken away that will be stupid it is a game. The reaction time and ability to realistically move is laughable (takes 30 fucking seconds to throw something...) Third person is good for getting a feel for your surroundings plus first person prone will just make so many people rage since the only way to avoid zombies is crawling and in first person you can't see shit. Ya i have to admit i don't think i would play this mod if it was pure first person. (i also use THIRD *fixed* person to see if the GAME actually picked up the backpack/gun i tried picking up.

i agree with him cause the hangers and comms tower (ive checked those 5+ times they never have anything except flares and stuff) I think the hangers should spawn less generic loot since they are rare buildigns military equipment like NVG and coyote backpacks should spawn in hangers.

THAATS JORDEN *catchy music plays saying jorden over and over* But seriously....the guy complaining has a point....zombies eye sight should not be good at all they are degrading flesh...their eye sight should be complete shit (as seen when prone) they should follow LOS rules for a distance of 1-5 meters while everything past 10 meters (if your standing they can see you 10 meters away) would rely solely on audible cues. Crouch movement should be more of an option. Prone should be for moving through the thick of the zombies but right now zombies see you while scouting near a town in crouch mode it is a bit silly. -

I like that idea if settlements become a reality NPC's would flock to it (soldier, doctor, trader) and the soldier would shoot any bandits on sight and the traders and what not would not trade but if you were good you would be allowed in and trade NOT saying settlements would be NPC controlled they would just start flocking there (spawning near it and walking to it) there would be a random max number of NPCs that would go there depending on how big the settlement is.

[/quote'] I wouldnt say its an empty statement mate and please lets keep this civil!! The reason I said that is because the dev team are rolling out updates on an (almost) daily basis it seems. These new updates are put out so that the testers (us) can do the testing and report back with bug reports and things that we do not like from a personal point of view. If people dont like a feature of an update and revert back to a previous version then how can they report bugs or state reasons of why they like / hate the mod with any clarity? The worst thing people can do it roll back to a previous version and then play on upto date servers. Then they come on these forums stating this isnt working or that sucks etc. The (probable) reason they have found something that is broke is because they are playing incompatible versions of the mod. In all honestly, I would love to see all servers connected to the hive running the most upto date version of the mod. That way any bugs that are reported are actual bugs to do with the most recent build. It's no use bro. This generation doesn't even what an actual "mod" is. Or even worse, an alpha version of a modification. You can thank DICE, EA and Call of Duty for allowing us to modifiy their game. I miss the old HL1/2 modding times. ....um half life is not that old i modded those games when i was 14 or so that was 4 years ago soooo ya unless there are some kids under the age of 12 playing dayz...than no we are all in the same generation.
